Hugs Nancy...I hate it when my day doesn't go my way.
I've been busy today...chopped, cut and trimmed all the bushes in both the front and back yard. It took most of my morning, but the weather is so nice. I spend my working hours in a windowless basement which we have termed the "underworld" so having the sun shine on my body feels heavenly. I use sun screen but yesterday I forgot to protect my lips...didn't make that mistake today. Dogs joined me while I worked. Both like being sun puppies. Sadie TWD likes laying on the cement, while Willis prefers the grass.
I came in a little after noon to make some lunch for Sweetie and me. Then I decided to take a short break. As I was sitting on the couch I noticed the middle cushion was covered with Sadie hair. I had let her sit on my lap to watch tv last night...not something I usually do...and the cushion was covered with her hair. Pulled out the vacuum cleaner to take care it and discovered it wasn't working. So I pulled out my pink handy dandy tool box and took it apart. Belts are warn and the cleaner needed a deep cleaning. I called the repair shop and they wanted to charge me $15 each for a belt, $25 for labor and 80 bucks to deep clean it.

I said "no thank you" went to amazon, looked up the belts and ordered them. The two together cost me $2.79. I put the cleaner back together and used my attachment to vacuum the couches, chairs and pillows all the while thinking about the $135 I had just saved.
I always rotate my cushions once a week. I flip them and move each one down a spot. I don't remember when I started doing this, but it was very early on in my adult life...it something my mom taught me to do. Need to remind myself to make a card for my box. In the past I would vacuum my furniture the first Monday of the month. Last time I did that was this past Xmas. I see my old P&P patterns reappearing and that makes me happy.
Sweetie is asking me where I want to go for dinner...I said anywhere where I didn't have to get out of the car

I'm a bit dirty and tired, but happy.
Glad you made it home safely KIC. Hope everyone is having a good day....back out to the yard, I still have 2 bushes to plant. May not get them in the ground today, but I can get started on it...

Doctor appointment was useless. I got a requisition for a mammogram. Which is what I wanted to have today, not a stupid appointment but they wouldn't let me book a mammogram while I was away, they insisted on seeing me first.
Got the rest of the groceries and mail. Dh cooked dinner (we are 2 for 2 on the meal plan since returning home!) and I've just finished cleaning up all the dishes and refilling my hot water dispenser.
I'll start the third load of laundry now.
I also reset all the light timers to the correct time and adjusted the lights-on time to reflect the later sunset.
We are getting heavy rain just now (have had thunder for the last hour.) Dfs just posted he got caught in the rain on his way home from work.
Just to update you guys, ds and dfs moved into an apartment together while we were away. So there's a ton of ds' stuff in the garage and two mattresses in the front hall (things he had no room for after moving down to an apartment from a garden home.)
I'm hoping to see the apartment in the next week or so.

Hi everyone. It was nice seeing everyone here today.
Harmony, I'm glad your audit is finally done and turned out good.
Dee, hope your refund goes through with no problems.
Nice to see Kathryn is home again.
It's good to see Indiana and Helia.
Talked to ddil#1 a little while ago asking if we want to come to their house for supper on Saturday. So we'll go there and bring dessert. I thought ice cream (dgkids favorite) and cupcakes with green icing for St. Paddy's day.
I noticed the other night when I turned off the laptop there were nine updates; it took at least 15 minutes.
Time has gone by so fast for me this week. Monday we went out on errands. When we got home I noticed that dh was supposed to have a blood test. So Tuesday morning bright 'n early he went. While there he stopped in to see nurses at g.i. dr. about another test he was supposed to have. They told him to come in Wed. am; he got the camera pill and they hooked up the monitor. At 4:30 pm he went back and they took the monitor back. Dr. was off this week, so we won't know the results till next week, but we're not expecting anything but a good report as he has been feeling well.
Monday evening I happened to walk down the hall and noticed about an inch of water on the floor of the main bathroom. I got it mopped up as quick as I could. Dh had already gone to bed so when I told him he said he have to wait till today to check it out. In the meantime I used the sink to wash my hair (thinking it was just the commode leaking) and had another flood...so I guess it's a pipe somewhere.
Sigh!!! The floor is ceramic tile, we have no basement, so the pipes are buried. I can only imagine what's going to happen. Talked to ds#2 this afternoon; he said he'd look when they come down this weekend. Good thing we have the master bathroom, too.
I finished some deskwork this afternoon, wrote a few checks to mail and downloaded pictures from my camera to computer, from last September till now. Talk about procrastination...I'm a pro!
I've been hearing thunder the past half hour. I hope there's some rain with it, everything's dry again. Think I'd better go now. Waving hello to everyone!
Wanted to add....just read the last couple of posts. Nancy, sorry you've not had an easy day. Kathryn, I'm glad you've figured out your water leak! Cowinkie, you and MT have got a lot of work done in both your yards.

I've just been watching the weather channel and saw the damage by storms and tornados. Thinking about Helia and praying she and her family are safe! Oh, they just said lots of damage, but no injuries or deaths! That's good to hear.

I joined Sunny in Desk Day today. Finished Desk Day for our household except for one decision which I've decided to sleep on. Was not able to finish Desk Day for my ddad's household.
Late afternoon was dominated by the meeting of parents and staff from the high school dd13 will be attending next year. She and I both went. Their elective courses are impressive and I hope dd13 can get into the ones she wants. I was impressed by many staff members, totally turned off by a couple I don't believe dd will have to know very well. Overall, I was pleased. The principal admits the school has had to "transition" (meaning be pulled up out of a bunch of problems) but says this is her 5th year, she will definitely remain, and she is very proud of the changes, invites everyone to check out the press/opinion in the community. So, though I won't bother doing that except through ds27's opinion as a first responder there, the fact she says these things gives me encouragement.
Afterward, dd and I picked up prescriptions and shopped for the pharmacy-type items needed here.
Then we went across the way to the Battery shop and had the nice fellows there change the battery in my dmother's old watch, which I admire. (Not nearly as nice as my Caravelle, but mine has a continuing band problem.) It was inexpensive and quick, so I had them change dd's battery, too. Then asked if they sold the tool to replace bands. They didn't, but took my dmother's watch from me and changed the band themselves at no charge. I will definitely remember them when we need to purchase batteries that cost a lot more!!
HRH complimented the watch when I got home - says the thin black band looks nice. I was surprised he felt that way, because my own watch is so much more dressy, but I'm glad.
Finally, we went by the healthy foods store. I grabbed a roasted chicken for our supper and we stocked up on produce. I also got the little cups they have of my favorite, Kozy Shack chocolate pudding! I think if I could just have a promise of chocolate pudding every evening, I could eat sensibly the rest of the day! I may have to try that diet!

We are all fine here, thanks for thinking of us, Sunny. Our lovely weather spawned a really nice storm. . . We got some impressive hail here, but that was about it. A neighboring village had a tornado go through/by it, apparently. . .
I like your diet plan, Harriet!
Book club tonight was very small, just 3 of us. Dinner was the full crew. . .
I am very tired. Dd16 still has lots of homework to do, but I think I'm going to go to bed.

Well we got out of here on time for the showing turned on the lights before we left like the Realtor said to. Went to dgkids house dd called and they had an invite for dinner out so we cooked and ate over there. dgkids enjoyed that as did we. Came home and lights were still on sigh so now there is a note on the door to the Realtor to please turn 'em off!

Duh!!!
[At least they came as there was a card on the counter.]
It's been raining and I had to rinse off the table cloth, un-stage the patio, h. helped with that.
Put the couch cover back on as dgd will be here in the morning for the day. Dgson maybe half day still not sure on that. H. may be going to the job site w/ his dad to pick up rocks aka play in the mud depending on your perspective! LOL! Dd had a new to her coffee maker that makes one cup at a time we could not figure it out so just heated water and poured it over grounds as h. would not settle for tea like I suggested!

Dd gave us a lesson on how to work it said she could not figure it out even w/ directions at first but her fil who gave it to her showed her how to work it. But I had creamer ~ first I had since lint began I totally forgot! Drat I was on a roll with giving that up too I've failed!

Sigh oh well. Thanks for listening / reading.
H. & I are fine h. does not have to work or play in the mud tomorrow. But were not here to
work on his job app. res. that really broke my heart NOT! LOL!
Got my e-mail working again yea! Had to re-start the p/c.
