Busy Thursday

I'm posting to see if I can get Thursday to come up first when opening PWYC. Right now, Wed. is showing up because I think Nancy accidentally posted under Wed.

Nothing new or exciting going on in my little corner of the world today. I just wanted to say hi to everyone.

It's a nice spring day here, sunny now after some cloudiness this morning, and 80* at the moment.

After my daily routines were were done I puttered around the office; making copies of new car insurance cards for dh and I and for dgd17 who has been driving the car we're giving her to school. Also did some filing of receipts, etc. and put my accordion file folder away till next month. I've done some web surfing and caught up with family on FB also.

Dgd17 is now in Washington DC on a field trip with her high school band. Yesterday they visited Arlington Nat'l Cemetary and were supposed to visit the nearby army base for a tour and meet with the army band there. I know they are planning to visit one of the Smithsonian museums and give a concert at the Lincoln Memorial sometime during their trip. Wish I was there to hear them! What else they'll do I'm not sure yet.

I have a load of towels and couple of sheets to fold and pictures from my camera to download to computer.

I am modifying a document at payroll. I just got back from retrieving my driver's license from where I left it. Thank goodness for honest people.

Had a longer phone call with my music friend. We hadn't talked for over a week. Filing is about 2/3 done, since I could work on that while we chatted.

Dh went for his dinner while I chatted. I'm still hungry even though it was a full serving of leftovers. I'm just aching for a Diet Dr. Pepper - almost to the point of driving out to get one but it is raining hard. I'm hoping a cup of tea will distract me. This is the first day I've had trouble ignoring my withdrawal (only a partial withdrawal, I'll have a diet coke when I'm out, just none at home.) I'm out of points for the day, having had juice and a raspberry lemonade in an attempt to satisfy my craving.

I think winter is back. Our last frost day is usually April 20th but they are calling for frost tonight.

Jake and I came back in from a walk. We were fast because it was so cold.

Indiana: It has certainly been a strange year for weather here. We still have some snow left from Monday's dump - the piles that slid off the metal roof aren't quite gone, despite all the rain we've had since then.

I got the upstairs dusted and vacuumed and a load of laundry hung up to dry and another folded and put away. So a relatively successful evening.

(((Elizabeth))) (re: dd/504/etc) I know it has to be frustrating -- for you and for dd. However, I am thinking as she grows older, she may learn to manage it better. As you said, her father has learned to deal with it and many others have as well. Didn't I read somewhere that Tom Cruise has dyslexia? And maybe Cher? I'm not sure -- but I know there was an article I read somewhere once that told about several HUGE celebrities who have overcome problems with dyslexia.

Well, the last three days have just been pretty useless to me after I finally got home. All three days, I have stayed over an hour late at school, and there is still sooo much to do (trying to get last issue of school paper together)... and I am just EXHAUSTED when I get in.
Tomorrow I will get NOTHING done, b/c we are having FUN FUN FUN. I am REALLY getting too old for this.
* sheesh * We have an annual "beach party" day @ school... dunking booth, water slide, mud volleyball, etc. I'm working in the concession stand. At least I'll be in the shade... and I'll be dry. And clean. And exhausted.

I have never liked the feel of something in my nose, so have always avoided nasal sprays, OKay, but if this grapefruit seed extract gives such instant result for LO... hmmm... that sounds pretty good. I might give in and try it!

Elizabeth, a very close in-law has dyslexia but made it through college and passed his cpa exam. I hope her special education she's getting is helping.

I've heard of grapefruit spray for the nose. It's supposed to work.

LOL, Harriet, my DBiL is definitely a Duck Master! Complete with the beard. And the hunting, fishing, etc. His whole house is filled with his taxidermy. Whenever we go there to eat it is usually wild hog he's shot and butchered. Ewww. At least it's not frog brains. I wonder about a couple of them, if they're not off the wall just for the show. I think of the one who's the c e o, he seems smarter than the rest and I wonder if some of it's an act. Did you see the wine vineyard? By-the-way, this is NOT Sunny's DH!

DH bought big bag of auto parts to fix the explorer. We were out in it tonight and I was concerned it would overheat; the guage was going up, but we turned a corner and all of a sudden it started going down again. Because of that DH thinks it's just a thermostat. I hope he's right.

Many business challenges this week. DH finished his job despite employee problems. He is very calm about it all but I am all churned up inside. We brought home a truck from former employee's house tonight and ended things. If he works for us again, he will not have as many perks that apparently he did not appreciate anyway. We also decided we need to change one of our subcontractors. We think he cost us a couple jobs recently. I sure hope all the changes are for the better and the company will be more profitable in the future. It is hard to make these changes. We have real long histories with these two people.

((Emptynester)) try other types of remedies? It worries me that this one would hurt you long term even if your system adapted.

Harmony, HRH is suspicious of Jace and his impressive vocabulary but dumb ideas/inventions. Dd13 is not suspicious at all and says he's the only one she likes and thinks is completely real. She thinks the younger children are definitely coached. HRH says he can't help but think it must be 50 percent put-on, but at the same time can't explain how familiar it is! My father-in-law eats frog legs once a week and laments that he can't catch them himself anymore. I will admit he gets me to eat them, which is just as valid a food adventure as the escargot I once had on a cruise.
