MISSION MONDAY

This is actually going quite smoothly. There are three reports left to be finished but none can be done until dh sends me the expense forms. He should have sent them to me when he made them up (August and Jan) or at least when I asked for them late this afternoon. But he's in the basement now working on something (even though I told him I was waiting for them.)

It would have gone smoother if there weren't so many interruptions today. Choir was fun but annoying for me because I had to walk away from my work (and I did over dinner too, since dh decided we should watch an episode of tv so that was another 20 minutes lost.) Then, at choir, dh was in a huge rush to get home. I couldn't figure out why since he had agreed to practice tonight and to stay late to practice a quartet. When I asked him on Friday if he knew what he was doing, he assured me he had told the Monday night conference call that he wouldn't be on it. Suddenly I find myself rushing home for him to make his call - apparently things changed and he didn't share that news with me.

I'm very confused - communication is not going well right now.

I have a lot caught up. I got all the desk chores done plus today's mail done when it came this afternoon, including reconciling a bank account. We got the grass and gardens watered. I ran out and paid a charge bill and deposited a check, picked up the library book DH wanted to read and stopped at grocery for milk and picked up another couple things I had on my mind.

So that was all good. I took a nap too. My tummy isn't cooperating the past several days. It went on strike again and I've been monitoring my fiber closely and things are better. I wish this wasn't such an issue. Soup for supper tasted good.

I'm going off to sew a bit.

I've put a lot of emphasis on perfect eating today. Really tried hard and dotted all the "i"s. Hoping for a change.

Dd13 is struggling with her reading of Around the World in 80 days. Written long ago and then translated from the French into a long ago English, too. (smile) So it's very unusual reading. She says she's genuinely interested, and growing fond of the characters. It is just wearing her out with deciphering.

She and I have to get up earlier than usual in the morning because she has a math event at school.

Tomorrow I have the DPC of all DPCs and it will be tough. I have to get firm with someone who has owed me a response for weeks and is causing me a lot of trouble by postponement.

Ds called this evening and got me thinking about how much work I still have at my parent's house. That's a little depressing.

Hope dd feels better soon, Twins' Mom, and that none of the rest of you come down with it.

I'm going to bed and bury my head! DD and I started packing the car late this afternoon. Ach! I have tons of stuff still to put in and it's nearly packed. I'm thinking, thinking, thinking.....what can I leave behind. ALL of MY clothes? DH bought several things to take back north and we have 3 big boxes of shirts that dd printed for DS-A. We also have boxes of stuff for the shower. Not sure sleeping on it is going to make this problem any easier. We may be taking everything OUT of boxes and just plain packing them in the car. HELP! Can't believe this. We've taken lots back and forth before and never had this problem.

Had some pretty hefty thunderstorms tonight. I see storms are forecast for tomorrow too. I'm just praying we don't run into any on our way.

DD called me today just after we'd placed our orders at O Garden. GD had gotten into a bit of trouble at school. Principal told dd that if we could pick her up within the hour that they wouldn't suspend her tomorrow and it wouldn't go on her record. Not sure exactly what happened =there's been no time that I could talk to her. I do know that she was swearing at her 'favorite' teacher. Sure hope she can hold herself together while dd is away. Ended up that dd left work to go get her. I was between a rock and a hard place. GD's therapist was here tonight and that may have helped her some.

Got a call from DDIL (DS-A) yesterday that a very important couple had not received their invitation. DD called them to let them know we definitely had sent them an invitation. Today we got one back with no address on it -evidently the name label came off. Now our hope is that it didn't happen to others. We've not had a whole lot of RSVP's.

Dee, I have BTDT on packing a car. 21 years ago I spent most of the last 2 months of dmil life with her. I ended up with a lot of my clothes there. I was there when she was having surgery and a blood clot went thru her lung. They told us to call anyone who needed to be there. I called dh who was working nights and was sleeping. The girls were in school/college. I told them to bring their dress clothes and mine. Dd1 who was 19 at the time said that the laundry was piled up. I told them to bring whatever and I would wash it. They did! They brought everything but dirty towels. They managed to keep dmil going long enough that dh and my dds could get there. Our bil was a trucker and was in Detroit. She held on until he came in the next night. He promised her he would take care of her baby girl for the rest of his life. And he did until he died of stomach cancer 4 1/2 years ago. Once he was there, she started shutting down. She passed away May 10, the Friday before Mothers Day that year. I have never quit missing her. I could not have asked for a more wonderful mil. We had a very special connection. Every year at this time it is especially hard. Sorry to be so maudlin. Anyway, when we were going to start loading to go home, we had to leave all of our luggage there because the trunk was filled with clothes. Everything was in garbage bags. If it was folded neatly they were clean and if they weren't they were dirty. We took the girls home on Wednesday. I caught up on laundry, bills and cleaning. Saturday dh and I headed back to his dads so we could work on thank you notes. I made desserts for all the depts. that had taken care of her and dhs 2 sisters and our sisil helped me deliver them at the hospital. Once I had finished those things I could go home with a lot of empty luggage.

Well... we have a date for the shower. I have committed to make the punch, with the promised help of cousins on my side of the family. Otherwise, I think we are just having cake, nuts, possibly a fruit tray.

Now... just puzzling over that dratted guest list and wondering who to include and who to leave out and who will have their feelings hurt if NOT included, vs who will think "why on earth did they send ME an invitation?" * sigh *
I know, y'all said I was on target with my thinking the other night, but dh's cousin says I might want to invite some of my teacher friends, etc.

Also... does anyone have any idea how to guess at numbers to prepare for? Open invitation to church family, which generally has attendance of 120-150, (60-75 women, you might say, but of course they won't ALL come!) plus approx. 25 additional invitations to non-member friends & family.

I see Dee is having her own problems with guest lists & invitations... "important couple..."
Hoping I'm not overlooking any "important" guests... pretty sure I am...
