I am such a slug. A happy slug, I guess, but still a slug. Funeral was graveside, in a light rain for the entire 30 minutes. My good deed was slipping up behind one of elderly women who was wearing a slicker but didn't have an umbrella, and shielding her from behind. She had already turned down an offer to share my umbrella but was leaning/sitting against a stone so I could stand behind her. I visited my MIL in the cemetery before I left also. I skipped the meal of consolation at the temple and went by the new house - they have taped and "mudded" the drywall - things are moving along.

Then I came home and took a nap. It seemed like the thing to do on a rainy day.

Dh got a business call just as we were getting ready to walk. In the 10 - 15 minutes, the sun stopped shining but it was still bright and blue sky to the south. A block out I realized there was dark sky to the west and north. We walked fast there, didn't chat, headed home but still got sprinkled and were threatened by thunder most of the way. Now it is just teeming and thundering like mad.

Which reminds me, the back eavestroph is blocked. Again.

I do need to make an errand run because we desperately need dog food. (Shhhhh....don't tell the dog boys!)

-Walmart
-produce stand for another fern
-liquor store
-gas up my car
-maybe go to the plant nursery for annuals?

I just got ds to get the rest of his stuff out of my car.

Today has not gone as planned. Was looking forward to an early walk, then setting my timer after breakfast & knocking off some pesky chores that are long overdue while checking in here for extra motivation. Because none of the tasks would take more than 30-40 minutes, I had visions of getting lots done & enjoying how good that would feel.

Instead, it was raining this morning so we slept in. When we got up the rain had stopped so we went for a late walk anyway. Over breakfast dh asked if I would help him with some computer stuff for half an hour or so. Over three hours later we took a break & there is still more to do. A lot of it was secretarial -- my typing is much faster than his hunt-and-peck method of typing :) . He volunteers for an organization & his position requires a lot of record keeping. He appreciates all the help with emails, attachments & word processing, and especially anything to do with Excel as he never learned how to use that.

I did have two enjoyable "Wednesday Wonders" today while on our walk. Saw a mama duck and nine adorable little ducklings. They swam away from us & the babies were in a big round bunch behind her, not in a line. Farther along in the woods I saw a large doe. She was so still, but she was also so brown in a sea of green grass & leaves that she actually stuck out instead of blended in. When I caught her eye she bent one ear back & her expression looked like, "Uh-oh! I've been spotted!" I quickly looked away & kept walking so she wouldn't feel threatened.

Dee, you must be so relieved that packing the car turned out so well. Praying for a quick & safe trip.

Hi Lucylee, Lilac & Twins! :)

Chilly here too, Indi. I like it though -- would rather be cool & wear a sweater than be in hot & humid temps.

Oh Nancy, I would love to see a baby horse up close & pet it (if it would let me!)

How fun for you & LO to be able to play with dgs today, OKay. Enjoy your pic-a-nic! (Sorry, I was channeling that cartoon bear for a second, heehee! Can't remember his name, but he had a baby bear friend named BooBoo :) )

Cool that dd is so interested in dinosaurs, Elizabeth. How long will you have the foster cat?

Hope your migraine has disappeared by now, Cowinkie. Thanks so much for updating us on Norma & her dh.

Kudos to HRH for getting you a keyboard that was exactly like the one you were used to Harriet. My dsis & I just had a similar conversation last week -- she was lamenting about "bells, whistles & learning curves" :) after her dh brought home two new updated gadgets.

Hi Harmony! Hope you were able to get some sewing in.

Great ideas for cleaning the knobs, MT. The dresser will be so pretty after all the work you've put into it.

What a nice surprise to have the whole day at home, Kathryn.

Hi maxsgrandma!

I see a magazine in the mail dh just brought in. Think I'll read a bit & then start dinner. Have a good evening, everyone!

Waving to everyone!

Y'all, that dog of ds & ddil's is going to be the death of me! I knew I could not PET her w/out itching... but last night, we went over to look at all the little baby stuff they received at shower in her hometown.
Oh. My. Goodness. I never even SAW the dog, but by the time I had been sitting on the couch 15 minutes, I was sniffling, my eyes were itching and watering, and my whole face & head & hands were itching!
I'm not completely over it NOW.
What am I going to do when the baby arrives???
I told dh, I will have to bring him to our house and give him a bath and wash his clothes every time I want to see him!

I think dh and I are going out to eat tonight. Y'all have a good evening!

ROFLOL @ Harriet's comment re: Carl's/Hardee's... NOOOO... we are not eating THERE. We certainly don't want to be told, "Get a room!"
Tomorrow is another day.

My wondering is over, there is a board meeting of the animal org tonight. That means I will get home late and eat late tonight. Tomorrow is also a late night. At least my house will be clean. The maids have come today.

Dove: This particular foster cat is due to be returned in two days. She has not made a ton of progress, but I need to get her back to her regular foster. She should be ok, but it will be a while before she can be adopted.

Dove, it was Yogi Bear!

Back from Walmart, produce stand, liquor store. I had a full load of stuff from Walmart - A/C filters, large bag of dog food, bottled water and lots of other stuff. I'm trying to get back on a Wednesday errands schedule. I also made a stop at a thrift shop and bought a $2 little hurricane type thing that just needs to be cleaned up.

Also just sent a long email to Admin VP who is out of town. Temple issues with roof (again, or still?) help (the maintenance guy who broke ankle is still off, and the gal who has replaced him for now had someone call for her today and say she wouldn't be there, on a day with a "meal of consolation" occurring) and other stuff.

I am hoping to work another round or two right now....
-load the dishwasher and start it
-reboot laundry
-clear kitchen counters
-start coffee for tomorrow a.m.
-change downstairs a/c filter

Done, also took out the kitchen trash (there's a lot more now that kids are home) and cleaned the top of the stove top well. Going to make myself a sandwich, and then watch American Idol.

Go, Elizabeth!
