Helia, as an Economist subscriber, I'd appreciate you sharing.

I've spent all morning working on June 10th's children story. I've found a cake recipe that doesn't seem to need an electric mixer and all ingredients were in the Bible (I had to eliminate anything that had vanilla!) I've written that out and will bake a test cake. I'm working on my patter to go along with the batter! I've named the children's time ABC, Anniversary Bible Cake and the theme of the lesson is that while preachers have come and gone, church buildings have come and gone, and music styles have come and gone, the Word has been the constant in our congregation's life and following it is the recipe for success.

Happy Birthday, LurkyLou!

Sure, helia, to me you could just go right ahead and post that. Sorry it happened to you. When is ds' graduation or celebration?

Must have been an elly-someone-else whose name I remember, ellyphant!

I think the unadulterated coconut oil is good for the heart, Indiana. It's the hydrogenation some brands go through that is to be avoided. I've learned to look for the words, "unrefined", "organic", and sometimes "virgin", although they say the word, "virgin" is just a nod to the way olive oil is marketed. The one they sell at my ordinary grocery - nope, nope, nope on all three counts, and doesn't even smell like coconut, either.

I'm being good on my healthy habits today OR ELSE. ;) It is taking a lot of mental energy! And I may not have energy to give - was awakened last night when ddad had a vivid dream and couldn't get over it for a half-hour or so. He feels quite well this a.m. and I went on his walk with him at 10:45 (already about too late as far as heat/sun).

Kally, enjoy your one pleasant day when 90s are coming - that sounds like our area so often this "spring". :?
Same ole', same ole'? We find that fascinating!

No surprise to me to hear ill as a hornet. But I do think "ill" is a southern suggestion of an especially irritated kind of mad. I once had a short story criticized for using the word, "ill" in a similar way, because even though the editor said she understood in context, she felt some would assume it must mean sickness. As far as hornets go, I think a mad one might make me stop and pay close attention, but an ill hornet would find me backing up.

I just cannot get motivated to get anything done these days, and I keep adding things to the li&t. Just realized I need to write something for the temple bulletin this weekend also.

Working on three small things at a time:
-clear kitchen table of stuff that came out of laundry room
-"hot" kitchen counter
-empty the dishwasher (finally!)

After this I will s2s and get ready to head out - need to go by my office for a few minutes, then be at temple by 6:15.

Twins, I forgot, which outside view are you building? The top one or the one with eyebrow trim? I especially like the front porch. Ours is like that though it might be wider across. Instead of a railing, we put a nice stretch of pavers up to it, then we put hedges at the end of the pavers. It doubled the size of the porch for us, though only the house part of the porch is covered. I like your floor plan.

It's nice to have new gals posting with us.

I'm not getting a lot done these days. Just barely keeping up. But this is temporary and important stuff is getting done daily. I did do a big cleanup in the kitchen today and it looks better there.

My desk chores aren't done yet and there are several things awaiting. I did do some calls and faxes and have figures to give DH for proposal we're working up.

I will get caught up when my sewing is done. As long as we have clean clothes, meals, bills are paid, I'm not going to worry.

So far we don't have anything planned for Memorial Day. Sunday we'll be tied up with church and I have a funeral to help out with in the afternoon anyway.

Honey I'm HOME!!!

Did a quick run to school and stopped on the way home to do some errands. I love the idea that I won't have to do all my weekly stuff during the weekend. Nice change in gears. Friends sent my flowers for my retirement and they look wonderful on my kitchen table. Sweetie is taking me out to eat tonight. When we get home we are having some friends over to celebrate and drink champagne. Wish Norma and her DH were here as that is their favorite drink. :D

I have a whole list of things to do around the house, but now is not the time to think about that stuff. I want to enjoy the day and begin my "next" life tomorrow.

Twin's, I love your house. I know all about light fixtures. I ended up finding ones I liked and then Sweetie bought them off the internet. He's a wiz at that sort of thing and he saved us lots of $$$$. I have three bathrooms with light fixtures I want to swap out. It's one of the many things on my list.

Norma...I am killing my own toenail fungus with decolorized iodine that I use twice a day. Been doing it for almost 3 weeks and I can tell you those guys....I sort of visualize the fungus looking like the cartoon characters in that mucus commercial...don't like it at all. I've been cutting down the nails as I go and after about 20 years can finally see the pinks at the very bottom of my toe nails. Can't use nail polish or anything, but if the iodine works there will be plenty of time for pretty tooties.

I'm off to feed doggies. It still feels like summer break for me. Won't feel the effects of retiring till the beginning of Aug. We'll see then, but my guess is I'm still gonna be happy about my decision. See ya'll later......

Harmony, ours is the one with the eyebrow trim. The front porch on that one goes all the way across the front of the house. It looks pretty wide right now - enough for a love seat and sitting area at one end. We wanted a porch swing, but the builder pointed out the framing above to us and the weight of the swing would be on the 2x4 that ends directly over the window. Probably not a great idea. Our patio on the back will be covered but not screened in (a mistake in my opinion, but dh wanted just the open patio.)

I'm heading to the shower.

Cowinkie, enjoy that champagne, you've earned it!

DFriend could not go to lunch so I ate what i brought. It was not very good, I had cooked it on sunday. I probably should not have risked it, but it was what I had. Here I thought I had a good system to cook for the weeks lunches on Sunday. I only need 3 lunches per week, other two days I go out. Not such a good system after all, but it does work for Monday and Wed, Fri is too late.

I am still having trouble staying awake. Reading assignments make it even harder. Tonight I will do the bare minimum and try to get sleep. Except I will have DD10 so that probably will not work. I have got to get over this illness.

Elizabeth, can you cook up something in a crock pot and put single servings of it in your freezer, taking those for Fridays? By the time lunch rolls around, they should be defrosted enough that they won't take too long in microwave at work.

Dh and I walked for the mail. That was my only exercise today, although I also weeded for 30 minutes (which counts as low-intensity.) I've taken my allergy pill now (should have taken it before I weeded.)

Also practiced the anthems for June 10th. We have another choir practice tonight, just for those pieces and I wanted to be more confident with them. There are lots of D and one E which I'm iffy at hitting unless I warm up first so the first 2 times I went through the anthem on my own, the Bs didn't come out at all. Nothing. Not flat, not squeaky, simply nothing. I'll remember to take hot water with me to choir and sing on the way over to warm up.

Dh has headed out to pick up pizza and we'll eat early so our tummies aren't blocking our diaphragms.

Dd fly in tonight arriving at midnight. She isn't staying here but I'm tempted to meet her at the airport to give her a hug before I see her later on the weekend. Dh has a men's breakfast in the morning so this is probably a bad idea.

Publishing Billing Center. I think it has been called Publishing Billing Exchange also.

I'll need to look again at Twins' models again. At least one photo looked to me like the house might be the mirror image of Twins floor plan but I don't remember details. I think I was looking at the number of windows on each side of the front door.

Today is a wash. I'm not getting much done. I did
-finish my a.m. routine
-make 2 DPCs
-review oboe options with dd13 and send an email
-chat with dfriend who stopped by to drop off her dd15's stuff; she and my dd16 are going to a sleepover together after their girls' small group Bible study
-went with ds to pick up his car. It didn't make the clunking sound for the mechanics that it makes for us. Darn.

Well, that looks like I did something, which is much more than it feels like. . .

I need to finish devo time now. And order the flowers for dparents' anniversary party.

Interested in any toe fungus conversations. One of my DPCs was an appt. with the Dr. b/c I have a problem with a toenail. I'm not sure what is going on, but I think there is some sort of infection. I'll spare you the details.
