((Lilac)) It is hard to support family from so far away.

Harriet, I respect your knowledge of yourself, knowing when involvement becomes unhealthy for you. Your influence here is always positive! :) I also respect the care you give to your ddad, and I remember the care you gave to your dmom. I also remember you "talking about" burn out a long time ago. I think about that from time to time, and have adjusted my "community involvements" over time. Currently, dh and I would really like to get out of 2 church small groups, but we're not sure how to do that. Both are pretty healthy; one is even gung-ho to continue meeting through the summer! Usually, we take a break and just meet monthly for a bbq in the summer. Anyway, a matter for prayer for us.

Dr. appt. for dd14 took a little longer, discussing options and next steps. She has an appt. with her pedi tomorrow, so that is timely. If she goes on Isotretinoin, she has to be on bc pills first. That is the law. I'm not thrilled about it, but we will play by the rules. We've been told the pills themselves might be helpful too. After the appt., I took dd14 home to get some lunch b/c she missed her lunch hour and wasn't sure her science teacher would let her eat in the classroom. She doesn't eat much for bfast and she has a big history test later this afternoon, so I wanted to ensure she would get some nutrients into her body. I have taken her back to school.

Ds sent me a list of emails for his friends, so I have now sent out the evite to 16 teenage boys. He says there may be more. I better make sure we have plenty of food on hand!

Thank you for all the affirmations re: keeping the awards night program! Yes, it is all there pretty concisely, so concisely that some honors and one big award are missing, but he has enough down there. :)

--And I just want to say that our not putting out his awards at his grad party is a matter of our own personal conscience and a matter of what we think is most helpful for our family. Other families make different choices. Some of our kids are extremely competitive, and I'm not sure how the girls would feel their awards will compare with ds' (we don't yet know what their awards will be, how many, etc., but ds is a hard act to follow in many ways; it is nice that dd16's interests and abilities are so different from his) - and we don't want to get into comparisons between them anyway. *phew*

Moving on with my day. . .

Next:
-devo time
-update laundry
-email oboe vendor
-check my li&t for other items

I need to be available to pick up dd16 at 2:30.

Oh the angst that is cropping up here and there! Know it's showing its ugly head here. Can't even go into it at this point -only to say it involves DSonIL. He's had an ongoing issue for months and it looks like it's coming to a head very soon. Right now he's trying for medical leave (he has 6 weeks built up and it would be a very good time for that to happen.) Makes things very difficult for dd. She feels she's now committed to coming north for a few weeks since gd13 is all registered and paid for 4 weeks of camping in western NY.

And, Lilac, feeling so for you in the middle of all the family dynamics!

Yes, LucyLee, our time to be new grandmothers does grow short -me for the 6th time (bios) and you for the first. How exciting that is! I have 5 step grandchildren and 1 adopted and of course, DZoe would make a 7th bio.

Here's dh again -back to work!

I need a do-over, have been AWOL so far today. Need to reassess what I can get done. I have a nagging headache going too - should take something for it.

-reboot laundry
-deal with a stack of medical stuff
-empty dishwasher
-s2s
-make the bed

This will at least finish up a.m. routine.

Well... making some slight progress. I edited my earlier post accordingly.
Good thing around here is, dh, who always over-estimates the time & trouble something will take, is also easily impressed w/small efforts on my part. ;) He thinks I'm working hard.
I'm working hard to stay out of the kitchen, btw. I am really REALLY making an effort to stop mindless snacking in between meals. And the last two times we went to movies, I did not eat ANY popcorn!

Oh -- movie review -- For Greater Glory is somewhat inspiring... but also somewhat sad... and there is a lot of violence. The story takes place in the 1920s -- I was wrong about the date yesterday. It IS amazing and inspiring to see how dedicated those people were to their faith and what they were willing to suffer in defense of it.

Lots of (((BIG HUGS))) for Lilac... Dee...
I like to think of our influence touching those around us, like a water droplet falling into a pond.
That is such a good thought, Harriet, and I am SURE your influence is positive on everyone who comes in contact with you for even a split second.
And that is true of sooo many of you, who inspire me and just totally amaze me with the grace and wisdom in which you face life and handle so many trying situations. I think, and I hope, that I HAVE learned just a LITTLE from you all since I have been a member of this wonderful village. -- I mean, honestly, I think I've learned a LOT... but I'm not sure y'all can always see the evidence of that!

We are off the road for the day. The shorter mileage really helped plus we were not on interstate highways. Rt 54 is a great two lane road with very wide shoulders. Therefore, we can move over when meeting or having trucks pass us.

Kicking back now with some lunch and then probably a nap.

MT, glad you're safely in for the night.

Lucylee, I love it! ;)
He thinks I'm working hard.
Along the way I also cleaned/polished the front of the dishwasher, and microwaved some water in the microwave so I can wipe it out now. (Dcleaning lady doesn't do it for some reason - it's no biggie when kids aren't home but it needs it now.) And took the two medical bills out to the mailbox. I usually don't like to leave outgoing mail in the mailbox but OTOH the mail guy s/b by in the next hour or so.

-Microwave wipe out
-clean out hall closet where the vacuum cleaner resides and fabreeze it. It smells like D-O-G!
-do 25 minutes clean up/purging in playroom
-mix up concentrated cold brew coffee to make iced coffee
-pack up a return that I need to mail tomorrow

((Lilac)) I'm sorry. Sigh. We all wish teenagers could have foresight to see the "life" their decisions may take on, affecting them in future ways they can't see right in front of them.

helia, our latest (just begun) foray into clearer skin is Acne Free Sensitive by University Medical. It is obviously in competition with Pro Active, but does not use lime or tangerine so that dd13 will be able to avoid allergic reaction, and you just buy at stores, not through membership. (apple and lemon instead) The three-some package looks exactly like Pro Active packaging and in a large oval on the front says, "Significantly Better Than Pro Activ" They are not being subtle. You start slowly, so she doesn't have an opinion yet. DVetNeighbor wonders if a Paleo diet would clear dd's skin as it has done for others, and I believe we could move closer to that for her, but I'm not sure we could reach it.

Speaking of not eating right :D dd and I went to the new local TacoBell after school, since I had several errands of PO, bank and pharma and I've been promising her she could see what one is like. She doesn't remember ever being inside one, and I haven't been to one since long before their embarrassment about their meat. I guesstimated 7 years. It was inexpensive, tasty and simple - that's about what I remember, lol. Anyway, because this one is new, it is lovely and spacious inside, which was a surprise to me. People were all determined to please customers - that was new, too. :)

HRH said "no" to this gastronomical experience, so I ordered him a calzone at the Italian place. During our 15-min wait, dd and I took one of our urban walks - a "Kathryn walk". Strangely, right beside a streetscape we approached from a low angle, dd was fascinated by a furry animal under a delivery truck. She said, "beaver". Highly unlikely. I pulled her back from it to give it space. It was a groundhog! Talk about living close to the pavement.

The brand new Alan Shepherd/Messenger Mission stamps were available at PO, so that was a plus to stopping by today.

Our phones were very old and had to re up a contract would not have gotten new ones except hubby dropped his in the pond at work ack! I finally got through to the Sprint store they do have a phone memory card for less than the one I found on line, we can pick up a diff. form if the sales rep. does not find the one [s] he forgot to fill out Sat. & learned that Fri. was not a good day to do it b/c he was off that day so saved a trip by making the call. I'm glad I had the phone # of our provider in my phone made it easier to do that!
I've been rounding up the old phones, charger cords, even found a manual h. wants to keep one old one for just in case they can be reactivated if needed.

So glad to get that call checked off our list. added a few new phone #'s, one more to do that I thought of

make bed x
empty dishwasher x
lunch x
walk x
granny duty has begun

I got some books; and videos of trains from the gal I'm walking the dog for so watched on of Ireland & Wales it was great to knit and watch! I still have Canada and U.S. wilderness those will be for other days. I have started the next batch of yarn on the current blue baby blanket lap robe I"m doing this one is nice I think better yarn than the last not as pretty how ever.
Neighbors dogs were out being a obnoxious; then I heard a loud bang like a gun shot or fire -craker they have been quiet for a while after that!
 One of the books is marked up already so I got out the markers and I"ll just use a diff. color!

The fish is out of the deep freezer for dinner and thawed enough I put it in the fridge.
I noticed one tree branch down a couple of houses from us but ours were good so that was a relief.

I think that's what I'm waiting for, Nancy. There have been times that I have had a phone die/break, and when I went to get a new one, they would not let me have the same (cheap) plan I was using at the time. I figure that's bound to happen again, so I'll just wait till a new phone becomes a necessity, and maybe splurge for the iPhone & data plan, texting, etc. at that time. Right now, my little flip phone serves its purpose very well, and I've only had it about 18 months.
