I've been to OKay's church. Picture a big, barn-like building. Inside are bleachers on the outside walls. Then a fence surrounds the dirt area where they can have cattle shows or rodeos. On Sunday morning a flatbed trailer like one would haul hay is put out next to the fence but in the arena and the preacher speaks from that as the people in church sit in the bleachers. Cowboy Church. It is great. And you sure don't feel out of place in jeans and boots.

DH just woke me from my nap as my phone was ringing. WHY couldn't he answer it??? Well, I lost the call as I was too much asleep. Hope they call back.

Hi everyone! Kally, you were right when you said it is easy to start just reading posts again, instead of posting. That's what I've been doing.

Friday frolic around here will be going out to eat to celebrate the sale of our house in New England yesterday. We're happy to get rid of it, but I feel a little sad, too, for some reason. Started thinking about how that is the house my children grew up in--at least from middle school through college. But, we will make new memories here when they visit...Also have a headache from waiting for the wire transfer to go through today. But, it is all done now, so I should cheer up!

Colored my hair with the last box of my favorite color. Brought it with me when we moved 7 months ago. Son's wedding is in 5 weeks, so hair color should last 'til then. Now have to start looking for a dress to wear to wedding.

Sorry about your finger, Kathryn. Lucky for me, my food processor will not turn on if it isn't put together correctly. Figured out what I was doing wrong when I tried to make coleslaw recently. Was missing a part that I found in cabinet.

Okay, I loved the bathtub tale of LO saying the 10 Commandments. That is about the sweetest thing I ever heard!

Supposed to be mostly sunny today -right! It's raining -just here, nowhere else. Radar shows just this patch all green. And I heard about 5 minutes ago, a truck coming in and turned to look. Our friends, who have taken forever to get here, pulled in with their big fifth wheel. They got a call & email yesterday with a picture of their lawn/driveway. Oh-oh -from dcampowner. Last I talked to her yesterday they were planning to come tomorrow (& before that they weren't planning on coming until Tues.) DH went down there yesterday and weed-whacked their lot but they still have to do the drive before they back in. Could be they decided on today because tomorrow tstorms are forecast.

Good afternoon! DD10 is better and is on her way to Montana for a family gathering (with XDH). She learned to use her inhaler properly and it is doing its job. I have a childfree weekend and I am going to sleep late tomorrow! I am also going to try to find someone to go to lunch with. Today, I need to take a check to DD's child care place and water XDH's (was ours) dog. I also need to think of a gift she can give to XDH for Father's Day. Less than a month to go before my vacation! I could use a nap now.

Helia I hear you! I had a neighbor trim a bush of ours that was hanging over the line it looks so ugly that I moved it, then decided that I was alregic to that one when it bloomed so took it out. I was SO upset when she did that.

That reminds me I have herbs to plant and the rains have stopped for the moment. Poofing out to check on planting 'em. Dgson will be here after school in a bit.

Back from a store run and doing errands this morning I have unloaded the car and put food away. Did you hear the horse they were hoping to win the triple crown is out of the
race.

Put my groc. list on my phone and still forgot something! Sigh that will just have to wait until we down town again.

Power surge messed up the gal's pc up the st. my one e-mail is working but mine was fine after I rebooted it.

It's cold here today raining off and on had to turn the heat back up.

I have granny duty here today after school dgd son is excited about the books
I got for him to read at a yard sale there are prizes if he reads ten books
this summer for a summer reading program so who knew a prize of legos would motivate him!

Elizabeth, my ds used an inhaler for years and years - when he started playing trombone in middle school it paid off!

Has been a heckava day. Got ds to work, then on to temple and worked there until 11:30 meeting. Accounting issues this time with temple secretary and I got snippy in part because of the issue earlier in the week that is still hanging there that I don't think she "gets." After meeting worked awhile longer, then on to new house, Target for a return (also bought a baby gift and a graduation card.) Then back downtown to pick up ds and back home around 4. DS and I are leaving again in about 15 minutes to go to services at temple tonight, as it is Dh's father's yartzeit, or anniversary of his death.

Will probably check in tomorrow - I really am whipped emotionally and the rabbi and Admin vp are upset also.

Meant to say to Helia that forsythia isn't a shrub that looks good when pruned too severely. I hate it when I see them pruned into a box - they arc so gracefully when they have room to spread out some.

(Kathryn) ~ sorry about your finger. In college I sliced a hunk off of the side of a fingertip with an Xacto knife when I was building a model of a theatre set. It grew back fine, although there is a little oval blank space in the lines of the fingerprint.

Lucylee ~ Consider this, there will soon be a child living in DS's house. Kids make a mess, no matter how much parents try to prevent it or clean it. Your DDad will just have to cope with imperfection. Even if DS & DDil kept the place spotless, things in a house age and wear out. DDad cannot stop the laws of science!

I predict he will be so enchanted by the baby and blinded with love that he will stop caring about the state of the house.

BookSaver -- I think you'll probably be right... ddad probably will be carried away with his first great-grandchild. Even though it won't be carrying on his family name, it will share his middle name, and since he doesn't expect to get any grandchildren from my brother, ds is his only hope of carrying on his legacy! The mess/wear & tear of the house wouldn't bother him quite so much if it wasn't related to the dog. Ddad could probably deal with the fact that ds & ddil aren't super-fastidious housekeepers, but ddad has never lived with an animal indoors, and never wants to. He just cannot fathom the idea that some people keep their pets underfoot all the time and even sleep with them! It is just beyond his comprehension...
And PLEASE -- I hope no one is taking offense at this line of conversation -- I know a LOT of you have indoor pets... but most of you do have short-haired dogs that are INTENDED to be indoors. For goodness sakes, this IS a 1/2 beagle we're talking about... they are HUNTING dogs, aren't they? * sigh * Even Snoopy stayed outdoors most of the time in the comic strip.

Anyway, for better or worse, I just told ds about what ddad had said -- sorta a heads-up, in case he ever DOES drop by: run a lint roller over the couch and hide the blankets ddog lies on!

So sorry about your tense day, (((Twins))). What sort of service is the yartzeit? I mean, is it going to be a really sad time, too, like a funeral, or is it more uplifting? Of course, sometimes funerals are very uplifting and inspiring, too.

Ditto comments re: forsythia needing to spread out. Lady who did our landscaping/pruning some years ago said the same thing.

So glad dd is feeling better, Elizabeth. I hope she has a great weekend in Montana and that YOU have a great weekend at home!

Elly -- what hair color are you using? I think I bought up all the last remaining boxes of my color, also. I don't know what I'll do when it's all gone! It is such a good match... I dread having to find a new color. I think mine is Ginger Spice (Natural Instincts).

OKay... that is really crazy about that woman just taking it upon herself to quote the preacher. Wow. You did the right thing. Maybe she didn't want HER child getting in the dirt? But who comes to a cowboy church and then wants to fuss about a child playing in the dirt? Strange...

People are strange.

Of course, I imagine a lot of people think I'M strange, with all my crazy anxieties and worries.

I'm doing better, though, knock on wood. Just got back from picking up cake. It is NOT exactly like dcousin ordered, and will not feed as many, but we think it will be okay. * sigh *
