Friday Flinging

Waiting for the concert to begin. Went out to lunch with Dsis, BIL and Dbro. They love to eat at the deli in the grocery store. So that is what we did. It was ok.

DH hooked up the TV dish so we can get the Food Network and a few more. No network programs, however.

But it gives me something to listen to while I am stitching.

lucylee, you could edit and condense them now into a different, smaller format and keep what you'd like to say, let go of what seems too trivial or bothersome. If it were my life events, for instance, I could edit the many situations relating to dd13 spending weeks on crutches down to two or three sentences. I'd still have kept the memory of that experience, which she might someday smile to know, but not the blow-by-blow of every check-up or days of school missed, etc. Brilliant paragraphs of witticism would be excepted, of course.

And, having condensed, relax.

Well, unbelievably, I just got here but am going to have to shut down the computer. Big bad storm approaching.

If you're that nervous about losing the journal entries forever, lucy...why not scan them all and upload the scanned images to a private shutterfly account or something? That way it's preserved, private, and you can feel free to get rid of the originals!

I'm just peeking in from work to see what the village is up to. I've never been a fan of reality shows, and never thought of the village as one...but I guess it sort of is, isn't it? While I'm not a redhead, Lucille Ball's show bears a startling resemblance to my life some days - chaotic, slapstick, people falling all over themselves, and general mayhem..LOL Another actress I've always admired is Meryl Streep - she's played such varying roles and done them all very well! For DH, I have to pick Rick Moranis - smart, kind of geeky, and really quite absent-mindedly oblivious about things around him! Interestingly enough, I was actually named after a movie star - Corinne Calvet who seems to have been rather scandalous!

Ah, on the other side of a 2 hour forsythia battle. Dd14 and me against the stand of 5 bushes. WE had the victory!! If dneighbor complains now, I will be pretty upset. Afterward, Dd14 helped me gather all the trimmings and bag them up. She helped me carry some things back to the shed. I'll make a couple more trips to finish bringing things back. Then, I'll have some lunch - now that it is almost 4 pm. And take a shower. My arms feel tired after holding a trimmer and shears at odd angles, shoulder height-ish, for so long.

Dh still has the car. . . I think he forgot that I needed/wanted it. His project is working though!!

OK, off to finish bringing things back from the far corner of our property.

That's interesting, Bittersweet. I had not heard of Ms. Calvet before. I was named after an amusement park elephant that escaped and was loose in the woods for 10 days or so in my hometown just before I was born. And no, the elephant's name was not ellyphant!

Home again with ds. I went by the house and things are going slow. The a/c wasn't on - after they said it would be on yesterday - and light fixtures still aren't anywhere near complete. They had installed the doggie door, but I panicked because I couldn't find the things that go on the dogs collars to allow the door to open for them. (Builder had left them in a kitchen cabinet, after panicked phone call.)

I need to get rolling again.

-challah ingredients into breadmaker
-make rice krispie treats for my ds, who is pushing his luck these days
-reboot laundry
-get mail

That is interesting, bsweet and elly. Named after an escaped elephant? That is different! Your parents must have liked her name!

On the subject of casting our dhs, dh used to be told regularly that he looked like. . . . Harpo Marx! He kind of does. . . LOL! I think it is dh's very curly blond hair. However, dh sure talks a lot more than Harpo. Dh is very energetic; I don't remember if Harpo is really active or not.

A good friend more recently said of a younger dh with a beard that he looked like Glen Hansard. Dh used to have a beard to make himself look older. I've never heard of Glen H. before, but I liked the link shared.

Good grief. I've got enough to worry about re: my journals being read by family. I don't need to worry about my whole life being read by the world.

Granny duty is an over night tonight. I need to get our bed made, dgson can help make his bed he likes to do that.

Lucylee, it is all in fun - I can imagine all of our stories, woven together could make a very interesting book or movie - our kids all growing up and us living somewhat parallel lives - one able to advise when another faces challenges, all that stuff. But it really is just in fun!

I've started challah in the breadmaker and made rice krispies, and got the mail in. Need to:
-reboot laundry
-empty the dishwasher
-clean up kitchen
-pack a box, finally?

My DR is almost packed for the move - except for some remaining silver on the table and MIL's china that is in protective covers and just needs to be boxed with some padding. Remembering now that I have our china, MIL china and another set that we use for Shabbat - or at least used to.
