Re: Just Tuesday PWYC
Dinner is done. Now for me to clean up. I made myself a very nice stir fry. I forgot how much I like them (80% veggies, something dh would hate so I make them up usually for lunch or when he's not around.) I'm finding myself eating cooked broccoli more now (I had it steamed last night and stir fried today.) Didn't like it until about 15 years ago but then I only ate it raw. Once I was on the ship, I started to eat it cooked as well. Dh hates it so I eat his when it shows up on his plate and just make it for me when we are home using the steamer attachment for the double boiler.

* whew * I think the Giants have adjusted nicely to the heat .
I have been doing Fl*lady's missions for today and yesterday. I thought if I couldn't bring myself to really focus on the zone I'm supposed to be in, or even my daily routine, then maybe I could at least do a 15 minute "mission." That worked up a sweat & actually made me feel as though I had accomplished something... so maybe I've got something going here. So far I have cleared the left & right sides of my computer desk (but not totally, b/c I have to leave dh's stuff alone)... dusted for cobwebs, and then went ahead and went over the entire wall of master bath w/the lambswool duster -- b/c contrary to (my) popular belief, walls actually DO attract dust! Who'd a-thought it?
Then, I was supposed to be cleaning doorknobs, light fixtures, etc., but I got carried away and pretty much went over all the walls w/a Mr. Clean pad. Nothing I did is REALLY all that noticeable, but I'm glad I did it.
I think even the most basic "routine" is just too much for me right now. For some reason, I just cannot seem to get myself going on ANYTHING.

Re: Just Tuesday PWYC
I did the dishes and opened the mail while talking to my music friend. She sounds like her old self and seems to have recovered better from this surgery than any of her others. Maybe she has finally got a good doctor.
The house feels cooler even though it is still as hot as it was when we opened the windows and it is still warm outside. It is because there's a breeze so things are fresher.
I'm exhausted so am going to head to bed now. Dh is practicing his pieces for Sunday (he'll be playing at our church while preach.)

Kathryn, I'm glad you didn't get a tornado, but I'll bet the cooler air felt good.
Lilac, your knees must be doing better for you to be mowing.
Trips, trips, those things we never get to take, have fun Sherinjoy and Sadie. I'll mentally go along.
Twins, I hope the events with neighbor's dog isn't a recurring event. Everybody is settling in to their new homes I guess.
Harriet, BWTG handling the unexpected company.
We had some too. DH came out of office and said ___ is coming over to go over her project. Yikes! He ran around with broom and I wiped up bathroom (in case she needed one) and wiped kitchen counters. I can't be in the office all day and out cleaning too, so the house was neglected...but we got it together a little and sat at the kitchen bar counter and looked at papers and talked. Poor lady bought a cheap house off an auction and found out too late it has multiple problems with county people and we are trying to straighten out.. they should have torn this shack down instead of trying to fix..
Went out and helped DH measure up ___ house so he could make a plan, then I helped him letter it a bit. I guess today was a total work day, not much got done in here except for dishes, dinner, paperwork.
On a bright note, I finally tracked down an entertainment unit that will work. Most unfinished furniture stores are out of business but I found one in Jacksonville (too far) and one an hour north of us. The web site for the Jax one had a unit we liked but discontinued. Faxed the one north of us and he gave us his wholesale website and we were able to pick something from that, pick our doors, edge molding, size, and then he priced it out. More than we wanted to spend, but not too terribly bad. We will probably finalize our order in the next day or so and he will order from Texas. In Aug we will have it here to drag home (a 1 hour trip) and stain and urethane.
I have some cleaning out to do. Our current pieces will go to consignment shop and also the too-big for us end tables that match the old stuff... for the first time I have the feeling we may eventually get this place back together. Oh, and DH glued the inside of the piano bench and it's ready to get the leg put back on. Yay for progress.
I have my quilt out working on it. First time in almost 2 weeks.

Re: Just Tuesday PWYC
Haven't heard from dm since our conversation when I suggested she needs anti-depressants. She must have stewed around on that and is now mad. I talked to db and he said he was working at his sons house that they are trying to move into and dm showed up to look at it. Db said she was snippy with him and then she left.
Harmony, I am finding that I have the most problems trying to sit down on or get up from the toilet. I told dh that when we redo the bathrooms we are getting the ones that are 2 inches higher than most toilets are.
Dd2 has signed the lease and now has a key. I met her, her dh and the kids down there. It will be really nice when she is done, but there is a lot of cleaning, painting etc. to do and then she has to put in new flooring, 2600 sq ft!
I have an eye appt tomorrow. Because of the diabetes, they always dilate my eyes.
Dd2 wants to take the 3 middle kids swimming tomorrow, so I will watch the youngest.
I need to get dishes done..................

Re: Just Tuesday PWYC
Lilac - found out from physical therapy that if I exhale when sitting or getting up it really helps. The gal that taught me had me even doing a slight whistle as I got up to remember. It still hurts but you can move better.
Went out to lunch with DD#1 and family and birthday girl's boyfriend. I haven't had Chicago style thin crust pizza for 2 years and it tasted wonderful. Then we went to the house and had ice cream and a cupcake cake. The put as many cupcakes together as you order and then do the frosting over all of them so it looks like a cake. Really nice as you don't have to cut the cake and it is all portioned out. You can also order assorted flavors that way.
I have been stitching most of the evening. I give myself breaks to rest my fingers and read a bit or play a game on the computer but then back to the stitching. I'm hoping to get it done soon as I have another one just like it for DGD#6. This one is for DGD#5.
Niters all.

Re: Just Tuesday PWYC
Hooray for me!
I actually got out of this chair and s/s both toilets. (Not the one in ds's old bathroom. No one ever goes in there so I tend to ignore it. I should NOT ignore it, b/c even though it is NEVER used, somehow some sort of black moldy stuff grows in it. I need to make a weekly card to check it -- flush & s/s.)
I also changed the light bulbs in the den ceiling fixture. DH realized last night that he had 4 40-watt bulbs in it (ceiling fan type fixture) and HE switched them all out to 100-watt bulbs. * whew * I could tell it was actually hotter in there. So we switched them all to 60-watts. Maybe we can read w/out going blind OR sweating now.
