Just talked to dd2 and she asked how everything was going. I told her fine and then she commented that I had dreaded it so much. I told her that then if it turns out all right, yeah, but if you are expecting wonderful and it's not, then you are really disappointed.

xsonilaw would not let her have the boys. They are going to a friends little girls bd party. Hope we can have them sometime while they are here. Her dhs friend isn't coming after all. I have preordered the pizza. Dd2 said that dd1 was so excited to be in charge of the cake, etc. I'm glad because it worked for me.

The little girls start daycare tomorrow. Dgd15months has never been in daycare except when dd2 was out of town in May for 3 days. I know I will really treasure our time together now.

I certainly like "Shazam Sunday"!

I was the only one among us who made it to church. Dd's SS was cancelled because both teacher and then substitute teacher could not be there. And she was still sleepy from the Benedril anyway. A young minister not long out of seminary preached. He had a well-thought-out message that ended so abruptly I'm not sure what his conclusion was, but he made several interesting points. Did think of Kathryn through that time, knowing she was probably preaching then.

Back at home, no sooner was I into more comfortable clothes than dsecondmil and dstepfil arrived, with the big surprise to both us and to them that dstepfil was entering into an extremely difficult panic attack. I brought ice water, to no avail. Dd13 offered a popsicle - no. (My ddad was napping in his room.) We all tried to talk it out as he cried, really, and held his head in a type of pain, I guess. We offered him the couch to lie on but he thought that would make it worse. He didn't want to walk outside. Finally, HRH insisted he drink a cold bottle of (carbonated) Strawberry Crush, which of course is a really shocking taste, super fizzy. Through some mechanism, it did seem to help and eventually dstepfil managed to calm and come to an even keel.

Finally he was laughing with us about the absurdity of drinking fizzy-fizzy Strawberry Crush while so upset (I had poured it over ice and the fizz went 2 inches high) and laughing at some outrageous jokes from HRH about trying to wash your feet when you can't reach them - or something - just carrying on foolishness I can't remember. HRH went over all dstepfil's medications with dsecondmil and put together questions for his dr before they left. ...wow.

We had to admit that my ddad was out of cookies and Ensure, and that means an errand. I actually considered baking, but his cookies must be very soft, and I just decided there was no use chancing a lot of work that might end up unhelpful. We're not sure how he ran out of cookies. He just goes through them so fast. Dd13 and I went out and handled that.

Fielded a long phone call from the aunt of the daily aprons and learned younger uncle doesn't feel well and aunt-in-law turned her ankle. I usually just say everything's fine in order to move the conversation along - is that terrible?

I'm home from church, bowling and time with DGS15. All went well.

DGS15 talked me into teaming up together to make LO birthday cake. Neither one of us has any idea what we are getting ourselves into, but we are planning to have some fun doing it....and hopefully make some good memories. We went shopping for things to use as pieces of the backhoe. Walking up N down the aisles looking at everything with an eye to possibly make it work for shapes we need. We found some styrofoam that we hope to cut into shape of the pieces that can't be cake and then cover them with icing.....and hope for the best.

I'm used to working in heat and I'm fine with it. But it sure does take a powerful amount of liquid to stay hydrated these days that are hovering around 110 degrees. Yesterday I laughed at myself when i realized I was carrying around THREE drinks (lemonade, tea and water) everywhere I went. Somedays I'll drink 120oz of liquid and realize it isn't enough because I'm not going to the bathroom to pee. Normally LO only drinks water and milk, but I've started adding pedialyte to his drink options to get more liquid in him.

I piddled in the kitchen and managed to purge enough and move things around to set up our "junk" drawer. Of course, it does also hold useful things such as the stapler and tape, pens and scratch paper, label maker and meds containers and stamps. Started a lol too.

Ddogs are getting antsy about a walk outside but I just ate a sandwich and need to let it sit a minute or two.

I sat my new smart phone on the desk next to the laptop.......and without ANY interaction by me - it sent/copied all the pictures I had taken with the smart phone today to my laptop. How did it do that? They aren't connected with any cables. The laptop doesn't have bluetooth. WOWsers! How did it do it? Gotta check it out and make sure the permissions are set to only share with MY digital devices.

Sometimes it is the juxtaposition of posts that make me laugh out loud:

Ironically, I have to laugh carefully or I'll be piddling in the kitchen and not the way Twins meant!

OKay, dd SAID this was going to be like something out of "Cake Boss"! Consider making a rice krispie treat in an odd shape you might need. That would be very light-weight but edible, and theoretically not perishable. (Well, not as light-weight as styrofoam; not bad though.)

BookSaver, has your Flip-Fold been sturdy? That's one gadget I may regret not buying.

I'm amazed at anyone who shops and actually finds clothes. I try and fail. Bought a top dd found for me because it was the only item out of 6 that was okay. Back at home, I realized that although it was cute it was wrong on me - too short, too airy. So, it is now dd's! I really need to shop, though - my closet is not helpful.

Today I was, however, able to wear a dress to church that I couldn't wear a few months back. Arms were the problem, and now they allow circulation!

Nancy, thanks so much for honest review. I wouldn't darken the showing of a movie that made one of my friends feel she needed to repent after seeing!!! Hrumph!

Indiana, what a kind man he must be! So glad you have people like that around you.

Gee, with ellyphant's rec of Dollar Gen too, I may have to check that out. I think we have one around here somewhere.

rice krispie treat - BRILLIANT! Thank you for that idea! There will probably be at least 4 children 1 year old an under attending LO birthday party....plus a couple 2 year olds... so having all cake pieces edible is preferable. Multiple little fingers reaching in all directions to grab and attempt inserting anything/everything into their mouth is to be expected. Hopefully the 3 year olds and olders will know not to put all the pieces into their mouths.

Crickets and locust are bountiful this year. >>>.shudder<<<<< I really really REALLY don't like crickets. I swear - there are 100's of crickets seen every day around all the businesses. Grocery stores, WM, MPB, gas stations, bank, restaurants, etc. I just realized that I haven't seen a single cricket in the country ....what is up with that??? I stopped wearing skirts the day a cricket flew underneath my skirt and I couldn't get it out without disrobing. >>>>shudder<<<< I'll try wearing skirts again this fall when the weather cools down and the crickets GO AWAY.

Oh, and your idea of using rice krispy treats is brilliant, will have to file that away in the back of my head.
