Hello, ladies!

My day is going "well"! Feels good to have half my errands done--bank, Lowe's, and grocery store. Treated myself to a walk through the thrift store as I dropped off a donation there. Will complete errands tomorrow with trip to post office, library, and pharmacy.

DH is off work next week. We're heading south to check on his mother, who is not doing well. Will also see my DM, if it works out. She is very close to being a hoarder and visits are stressful for her. I would love to help her dig out, but realized long ago that she doesn't want my help. DB lives near her and his life is a mess. We will, at least, have a good visit with the in-laws.
But can't say I look forward to the trip.

Twins--DH's top teeth ache when his sinuses are acting up, so maybe your dentist is onto something.
How you do your work is a portrait of yourself.

Had my lunch with dh and managed to eat only 4 points. If I want to eat low-points, I know how to do it! That was a hard-boiled egg, 1/2 wrap sandwich using lawash, fresh tomatoes from our garden, and water.

Now, I'm drinking a WW chocolate shake - 4 more points. That's a lot for one item, but I'm low so far today. I tend to do well during the day and am often quite low going into dinner. Social dinners - and I have a lot of those - and evening snacking are my Achilles' heel.

I got the groc. shopping done for social meals tonight and tomorrow night. I wasn't planning on cooking tonight but dd16's friend will be here; she has never had a formal play date with dd16 so I want to serve a decent meal. It is kind of funny, she is actually the elder sister of dd16's best friend from church. B/c those 2 sisters are younger for their grades and dd16 is older, she is almost midway between the 2 in age, though she is in the same grade and is good friends with the younger one.

Tomorrow night, we have our Thursday crew - just 2, I think - plus a colleague of dh's with his wife and young tot over for dinner. They are Italian so it is always fun to have them over. They will likely bring a fantastic bottle of wine with them. :) Since I don't know the colleague and family well, I will probably clean a little extra. Dh is cooking tomorrow night, a yummy salmon curry.

Dh is out practicing driving and parking with dd16. I might lie down for a few before I start cooking dinner. I got the breadmaker going this afternoon so that is done. Otherwise, dinner is simple: a basic hamburger curry (Kima) over rice, bread, salad, perhaps fruit too. I checked w/ dh re: 2 curries 2 evneings in a row, but they are different enough that he was fine with it. Tomorrow's curry has coconut milk in it. The kima just uses the curry as a flavoring. We like curries a lot, can you tell?! :) Dh usually mixes up the spices himself instead of using the pre-mixed curry spice. I am happy to use the pre-mixed curry spice.

OK, enough yacking. . .Off I go.

Excited to LO's first day of school soon!
Hmm... Well, maybe you'll eventually get answers from the liver specialist, Kathryn.

The doctor finally used the word(s) autoimmune. It really seems to be the only thing left as she has tested me for everything else. Of course, in my reading, I've already come across that idea and with my eye inflammations it isn't a completely foreign idea. Although, one of the tests she did was for rheumatoid factor (so she really has been watching out for everything.) Still don't like her much but she has been excellent this time.

Actually, the way the conversation went was me saying, "Is there a chance this will resolve itself without us ever finding out which virus it is?" to which she replied, "Yes, but it might also be some autoimmune problem and that's why the liver specialist wants to see you."

Dinner is still an hour away and I'm hungry NOW!

Maybe I can convince dh to distract me.

Dh went to the general store to get the mail and took the car so I could ride with him (and get out of the house.) I visited with the post mistress for a bit.

Wanted chips so dh bought me a bag and I've eaten those while waiting for dinner.

Dee, Sunny and OKay there are studies that back up both B-12 and B-6 for aiding your body's melatonin production, and therefore sleep. I personally think the link with B12 is the easiest to prove because so many people have said for decades that they sleep better after a B-12 shot (and feel more alert after their night's sleep). But in theory, because B-6 helps create seratonin and seratonin helps create melatonin, there's pretty good evidence for it, too. I figure, since the whole B complex is so good for us, why not just be sure to get it all. I take a whole-food multi and am very happy with its distribution of the B complex. HRH, of course, must take extra B-12 as well in a sublingual tablet because he would be deficient otherwise like so many other people (maybe your dh, Sunny?). I've seen some suggestions to take B vitamins relatively early in the day or midday. I don't know that that is a hard and fast rule, though.

I have B vitamins in my multi, but when I'm stressed (like now) I take ZBEC Stresstabs at night (which are antioxidents, Zinc, E, C, and an assortment of B.

As you know, melatonin works wonders on me (but I don't take it when I'm not traveling because I find myself groggy in the morning.

Dinner is done. I cleaned up the dishes and started the dishwasher. I have a bit of energy now and am debating if I should try my weekly kitchen chores which take 20 - 30 minutes usually and were skipped last week. I did empty the compost pail and walked around the yard while outside to look at the weeds and plants. One plant went dormant after blooming and has come back and is reblooming now that there is rain. So I need to trim off the dead bits. Not sure how many tomatoes we'll get, the plants look as if they've been through a frost. And the oak tree is dropping the 5 - 7 leaves at the end of every branch tip - they are coming down all together and it is just blanketing the ground and play structure.

We were mowed yesterday so the yard looks better now. The back lawn is all green, the front is dead in places where new grass was sewed 2 years ago but the rest came back.

Thank you Harriet for the information. I googled Vitamin B complex and read the Wikipedia info. I had forgotten the names of each of the B complex, but recognized them as information I had typed when the Dr. I worked for as a typist was writing his book on the whole subject of vitamins. That was so long ago.... Anyway good information there and I think a multivitamin would be worth taking. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B_vitamins. Reading the side effects of B3 (Niacin) reminded me of some of the symptoms that Kathryn is experiencing. Don't recall any mention of autoimmune disorders though. Dh was taking niacin but dr. discontinued because of the warfarin and excessive bleeding.

Kathryn: The oak leaves coming down might be from cicadas. The adult lays eggs at the beginning of the season in the new leaves. The larva hatch and eat thru the new tips which fall to the ground so they can burrow into the soil to grow into adults. Many of the oak trees here have the dead growth at the ends from that. I don't remember if it is one of the long term cycles (13 year or 17 year) but some don't come out when they are supposed to - or will come early if the weather is wrong. The dryness could have upset their schedule.

Cleaned out one huge cabinet of automotive parts today and then came home and played sick. It was hot and my legs ached from being on the cement - so I took a nap in front of the fan.

Tomorrow I have to go sew. YUCK. The volunteer sewing room is semi underground and it very moldy smelling. I'll do some measuring and drawing out tomorrow to see where things will fit and if there is enough material.

MT - sounds like you need some puppies there to make it more fun. :)

I'm LOVING the cooler weather! It was in the 90's today and was very enjoyable.

Took DDad his birthday gifts today. I told DDad the gifts were a little on the weird side, but I thought they were things that he would enjoy using. :D I got him a slow close toilet seat and a bamboo towel. DH installed the toilet seat for me.

School prep is almost done. everything is labeled and stacked up by the door. Just a few more papers to fill out which I will do after LO goes to sleep. LO is drinking glass of milk before we head to bed.

sweet dreams!
