Temps are way down...our high should be 95 today,
Well, I smiled when I ready this, Cowinkie. I guess that's a different perspective! Today is hot here b/c the high should be 90. LOL!

Never heard of Saltines in milk. doesn't sound too bad, though.

a.m. routine is done. I have eaten some lunch. I'm off on a quick run to Michaels and then the groc. store. I'm hoping Michaels is a good place to buy a photo album. I'm going to put together an album of photos of ds growing up.

Did I tell you we're missing photos of ds from about ages 3 months - 3 years?? This means we're missing ALL dd16's baby photos too. :x Two possibilities: Either dh accidentally threw them out while decluttering the closet a year or so ago (this has happened before; dh accidentally threw out some baby videotapes of ds and dd16. He gets lots done -- but is not always great with the details. Grrr.....) Or, it was in the box or 2 that went missing when we moved here 11 years ago. . .I think it may be the latter. Anyhow, I discovered/ was reminded of this when I put together a photo board of ds growing up for his grad party. Oh, how I regret not being on top of the photos and getting them into albums back then -- although, if it was the movers' mistake, having photos in albums wouldn't have necessarily helped. It just so happened our albums made the move. Still. . .

Good Morning Ladies,

Still morning in my time zone for another 15 minutes.

It a cool 93 degrees here. 8-)

Kathryn, thank you for letting us know the status of the board, I was wondering but didn't want to seem uncaring by asking. I'm so thankful to have this board.

Another day of dailies done. I dusted one of the shelves next to me and started to dust the next one up. Set my timer and when it went off I stopped.

Going to have lunch, exercise, shower, then read and finally head off to work.

Have a great day all!

Also if anyone finds Indiana's obituary online, could you please post the link to it? Have been searching for it but only find Hugh's from a few years ago.

Thanks

Sadie

My DH insists on having Ritz crackers with his ice cream. I remember my mom talking about hot milk on toast before her basketball games. She played center back when they wore bloomers (1920's). DH also likes mashed potatoes in chicken noodle soup. He said it was because his grandmother's soup was so greasy that one needed something to cut the grease. I told him mine wasn't greasy so he didn't need the potatoes.

I have been sewing this morning. I was able to get the skirt for the daybed cut out and then started working on the drapes until I figure out what to do with the cording. But first - I had to come home and download pages out of the sewing machine manual - it is a fancy dancy one and I didn't even know how to thread it. The threading stuff is all inside. So now they have a manual for it. (Donated machine - who knows where the manual is.)

Time for lunch. TTFN

Yes, I've seen it. My parents would also add cornbread to a glass of milk (or buttermilk!) as a light meal.

I was so sad yesterday about Indiana's passing, kept tearing up thinking about her, and didn't sleep well either. Today I'm a little better. Keeping busy around the house to distract my mind. I thought of putting "What Would Indiana Do" post-its at all my hot-spot locations to urge me to clean up the messes.

I laughed when Kathryn posted that Indiana had 6 emails in her box - I have 648 at the moment - and have been working on getting it down to 300, which I thought would be perfectly acceptable. I guess the standard has been set by Indiana, so I better get deleting my in-box.

Thanks Kathryn and other admins. for keeping our village going with website hosts. I only understood a little of what you wrote, but completely trust that you will handle it. I do have a question about the check I sent to Indiana on July 2 when we were asked to donate towards the cost. It has never been cashed. I assume it arrived at her address, but she was not able to go to the bank since then. I will just leave it for now, but at some point maybe we should ask if there are other member's checks from the village that haven't been cashed?

Off to my hot spots to clean up!

Oh - I forgot to add that when I grew up, we often had crushed saltine crackers with sugar and milk for breakfast or a snack. My Mom was from Kansas and she said her family always had that for breakfast. And we also had hot milk on bread in a bowl for an evening snack before bed. Thanks for reminding me of these childhood memories!

I'm deeply saddened by the news of Indiana's passing.

I regarded her as a friend to me. I didn't know her as well as you all did but I felt in my heart that she was a lovely lady and it has been my privilege to have known her through this board.

Thank you for making me feel better. And last month, when I got my in-box down to 300, I was feeling on top of things!

As for the uncashed check I had assumed all had been cashed because Indiana was organized. Of course, there's the flip side, we aren't so I'm sure the money dribbled in long after she sent the email.

I'll have instructions about what to do by the end of the day (have to check with the mods first.)
