Okay, you haven't said specifically but I assume that you finished the hardwood floor project in the living room? I have to tell you, I am impressed and I am sure it looks beautiful. I enjoy watching fish in tanks but have never had one. I am just too lazy to have to mess with cleaning the tank. You are doing a great job, as you work on your room by room projects. I need to get started and do the same thing.

Kathryn, it is reassuring watching your day by day improvement.

We may or may not get to enjoy a free meal tonight. One of dgd15 coworkers posted it on facebook. That is not what the management intended, so we will see how busy it is when we go. Dd1 had not asked the friend to go to the concert. I told her I would go if she couldn't go with her. She immediately said she would rather I just go. So it looks like I will be going.

Here I sit still wearing my walking clothes. Guess I better iron something, get a shower and then do some work until time to go.

OK, my grandma (my grandpa too, but he died before I was adopted so I never met him) lived on a farm in SW Kansas. I loved visiting their farm, and I have fond memories of the livestock tank! Although, they were grain farmers, i do seem to remember a few head of cattle on their farm at one point. And my cousin's horse lived there some years too. . . I think I remember we used to be allowed to go swimming in the tank. Swimming in the livestock tank with my cousin -- that was THE best! I can't remember if it was ever stocked with fish or not, though. . . .

I've been working through my emails. Ergh. I need to do something else. I hit an email with a linke to a photo album from which I'd like to snatch some photos and it will take some time to do that. I think I'm going to work on some house tidying.

I took an Advil for a slight headache.

I think I'll turn the AC on.

My only comment on the water discussion is that I don't drink enough of it. I think I'll go drink a glass!! --Though, from chem classes way back in my past (whose material I've mostly forgotten by now), I couldn't understand why freezing would cause leaching of chemicals from plastic. It makes sense that heating would do that.

Yes, it is heartening to read Kathryn's gradual return to health. . . .Keep going!

We are not ready for this storm. I got none of my list done except for sheets are hanging up. And work clothes are hanging up from washer too.

DH came in and said after he cut grass he wanted figures from that project-from -h***. 3 hours later we have a 2-page spreadsheet with about 20 accompanying backup sheets. And now I am upset, mentally burned out, couldn't tackle going out or any of the work here. I had to do that blame thing twice as something happened and I lost it all just as I had it set up and was going to copy...then he wanted something added and changed...

Oh, I did get some of the bills paid and on their way. At least I caught the mailman with those.

I'm going to take a rest and see if I feel able to do something more.

My uncle in SD had a huge stock tank that I would regularly get thrown into. (punishment for being little sister/cousin pest). We would put fish into it (mostly bullheads - cousin to catfish) in the spring when they were running and then eat them all summer. We had two creeks on our land so didn't have a stock tank.

I agree that plastic in the sun would be bad - but I freeze mine all the time and haven't grown two heads yet.

It is hot here but I don't have enough umph to go to the sewing room. I know I will enjoy it if I go - but am also enjoying sitting here, reading.

I'm still off balance from my trip followed by our loss of Indiana, and a return to blazing hot weather. Not quite back into a good routine yet.

Plastic bottles - HRH makes "slushies" when he has half a single-serve plastic bottle left, usually of a lemonade he's found on his way home. After a couple hours it will be the texture of a fun icy drink. So I'm glad to hear freezing those doesn't hurt.

"POP! goes the plan"
Dd13 had put just her binder and 3 spiral notebooks into her new-but-bargain-priced messenger-bag-style Wal-greens bookbag. She walked through the house to get a feel for it across her shoulder. POP! The fastener of one side of the strap broke, even though not a single textbook had been added yet! Sigh. HRH looked at it and said he could try putting it back together using some type of hardware, but that none of the parts of the fasteners holding the strap was of any material other than the same cheap plastic, so she might as well assume any of those could still break at any time. I was SO regretting not just ordering an LLBean when they were on sale and would have gotten here in time. Sigh. So after deliberation, we did some searching and found this blue/green plaid one was nearby on sale. We had them hold their last one and made YET ANOTHER trip out for school supplies while her Daddy was here at home on a Sat. (With school starting Mon) It had better last as long as the manufacturer says it will. I think it looks very academic, anyway.

This is the sort of thing that just takes my time away, though. She is relieved - that has value.

There were puppies and kittens for adoption on the sidewalk there, so that made us smile despite ourselves. Thought of Elizabeth and bittersweet.

That's what you need, Harmony. To tour a pet shop with a lot of puppies and kittens to pet.

BIG surprise from the new principal. His very ordinary-looking email TODAY has, at this 11th hour, just announced a 10-minute earlier start to the school day for the coming year! "Promptly at 7:05." WHAT? The website does not agree with this change at all, but all I can do is go along with the emailed time info, knowing anyone whose email address the school does not have has not heard this. My question Monday will be, what does this mean for the time we're supposed to pick students up? (Something that was not addressed in the email at all.) Every single parent who drives a child will be going to the website in confusion, then calling the school office in confusion, taking up so much time, because of one little bit of omitted info that should have been caught in a quick edit. You would think someone could change this on their website by now to help everyone be on the same page. It's zero working days until school bell.

Saturday Smiles...
Well, as I have often posted lately, a peaceful sleeping baby is just about the happiest sight one can imagine.
Dgbaby has been visiting again, and he & I went to visit my daunt, who had not met him yet! He was sooo good... never a peep of a cry at all. Mostly he slept, but occasionally he would wake up and let everyone see his big bright eyes. It was a very nice visit.
He's back at home, and ddil has taken him to visit dmil, who just called to report how sweet he was and make sure we had seen him today!

Finding conversation about water bottles to be quite interesting. I've learned and grown today!

DS-R is here having some clams that next door neighbor brought over. I don't like them so the guys get to eat them. I like clam chowder but not clams.

But the reason I give this some credence is that another mother I ran into at Open House said her son had heard a rumor from other students that the school schedule was going to change by 10 minutes (didn't know whether earlier or later, but was specific about the 10 minutes). She wanted to know if I had heard the rumor, which she doubted. Of course I said then that I had heard nothing, but that the website hadn't changed as of that afternoon when I'd checked the correct hour for Open House and noted again the bell times. Although both of us had been at Open House the whole time, gotten all the papers and listened to the mini-speeches, neither of us heard anything official, so left each other saying, "How do these rumors get started?" And now this.
