I'm under the weather, but I'm working on my 3 x 5's today, to start using again.
I'll go light a candle now. DH asked me how old Indiana was, but I told him I didn't know. I wish I knew more about her. It's sad and it seems she did so much for the forum here, too. She sounds like she was an amazing person, too.

I have finished the picture mat for DGD#5 and got all the little openings cut out. Not easy when you don't have a craft knife.
Sorted out all the mail, filed the important papers (passports finally got here with all our birth certs. etc). Put all the medical bills and EOBs in a zip lock so I can work on them later.

Ivy, our dIndiana was 61. Her and her dh, Hugh set up this forum. She was the administrator (sp?) with lots of help from the moderators. Hugh passed away in Sept. 2009. Indiana was very computer literate and kept everything going. Looking back since her move last June, dIndianas health declined. She was hospitalized often and then she would finish recovering at home. Every time, it didn't seem to last long and she would be back in the hospital. I will never forget her helpful, loving spirit.
For me, it was Indiana's almost unfailing optimism. No matter how bad things were, she'd find the positive interactions with people, or count all the blessings rather than focus on her challenges. It took me ages to get a full grip on how challenging her health was. She'd talk about taking Jake (her dog) for a walk but then you'd realize through an aside that she needed a scooter to get around. Or she'd mention her doctors and had to add the detail which of her cardiologists she was talking about. If her embedded defibrillator went off, she'd talk of the kick in the chest it gave her as a good thing (which it was, because it meant she was still alive) and not complain about the residual discomfort (probably pain) it caused.
Dh is home now. He offered to take me out for dinner tonight (since he's not home for my birthday) and I've asked for dinner and a movie since a theatre in the city is showing Queen of Versailles, a documentary I had read about in the Economist.
Ivy, I was amused to be sitting in front of my 3x5s when I read your post about yours. I need to pop in to our Cardfile Central forum and ask a post-it opinion there.
The family will be finishing up their greetings in visitation and preparing for the service now. Prayers and warm best wishes to each of them.
I took dd14 to Kohl s and she found a gift for her friend's bday. A little case for a mobile device that becomes a speaker for it, making it into a mini media player. It's pink, which she says will let her friend know she was truly thinking of her. smile. Believe me, I intend to include the gift receipt for that mother. I am glad that I directed her away from the remarkably sappy poetry jewelry.
That's a scary lightning phenomenon, Cowinkie, and I'm glad you are here to tell the tale. My ddad was knocked to his knees when lightning struck the ground a full 30 feet from where he was standing, so I believe the power of it is more than most people understand.

Telecon was thankfully short so I am all done with that. DS19 has been called into work tonight so he won't be able to join us at DP's DP has a sDS that is close to DS13's age and is also gifted so they get along very well, it was fun last night watching the two of them chase each other around and play, DS13 doesn't have enough people to do that with... Hmmm DMommy Epiphany here, they actually go to the same school even though they are in different grades. I think I will talk to DP about maybe once a week or so DS13 riding the bus home with her sDS or vice verse. I know they both have trouble making friends due to their elevated intelligence and maturity, so this would be good for both of them.

Kathryn, your albums are just like mine. 3-ring and I put things in there chronologically, at least as much as I can. It's hard once I let years go by to get things in order again. I do have one very nice post binder I bought to put all the bigger pictures of the DGKids, the ones that go in the frames...I thought that was a nice way to assemble them. I just keep one frame of all the baby pictures, and a couple frames of the current bigger pictures. Once I get a newer one I change the one in the frame. Now I'll have a binder to put the older ones in.
I've been working on my desk. Much organizing, cleaning, filing, new files, addresses put into the book. I did projects along the way when I came to things...a card ready to send, a customer's stamped surveys returned.. some shredding; some rubbish. My black vinyl (?) desk pad has disintegrated on the back where it had foam..and I had to scrape and wash that off the desk and I tried to salvage the desk pad but even though I got the foam off, the surface is rough. So that's tossed too. Next I will go through the drawers and tidy and organize. My space was getting beyond usable.
DH is out working in the yard. There is so much to do around here. I am just not keeping up. But I am trying. BBL
I agree it was dIndiana's positive spirit that carried me through many a time of the doldrums or dealing with a life tragedy. She gave me such a positive outlook when I watched her and Hugh go through so much over a period of years. Though I'll miss her much, I'm also glad she and Hugh are finally united. Her family remains in my heart through each moment today -especially Jacqui.
Kathryn & MT in particular -you both have been such pillars through this whole thing -and continue to be. Thanks to both of you and all the others who have worked tirelessly to keep our village running smoothly.
Hear, hear! I heartily agree with Dee's thanks to Kathryn, MT, and others who have kept us informed, helped us grieve well, and have kept things running here.
Well, the pulled pork is made. Living room is tidied and dusted; upstairs bathroom is clean. I should probably s/s downstairs bathroom. Dh brought back from Europe some very old childrens' books which his father gave to him. One was a French book of moral tales published in 1865. I put those books up high on our childrens' bookshelf in the playroom.
Very happy for the job sit'n, scattered! You seem to be well-appreciated. You must be a great nurse! And you are in good company here with gifted ds13. In my proud cyber auntie voice: There are many kids, grandkids, and kid-in-laws represented here who have unusually high intelligence. I'm not surprised - so many SHEs are so darn smart!

I feel like a wimp after getting up at 5:38, going to a couple of yd. sales got a free dish for chick food, and a pet taxi for $2 considering that a success. Stopped by to help mow at the church but only was able to do
about a 1/4th of the yard and ran out of steam but at least it was something. H. was working today and could not help. The other guy got the weed whacker stuff done while I mowed then he finished up. I had to come home eat rest and get some fluids in me. Getting up that early I was ready for lunch by ten thirty! Any way got a rest break in and did a bit outside here in the back yard.
