Home from church. Excellent service. After church we had baptism again. Last week the water was so cold the people were shaking. This week they put a heater in the baptismal water however it did the job TOO well.....the water was too hot. They had to pause the service while several men ran to the kitchen and brought back buckets of ice & cold water to cool the water down. All is well that ends well.

After church we ate at local cafe. Once again someone paid for our meal without our knowledge. (we don't know it until we go to the cash register to pay...then they tell us our meal has already been paid for). The people who have paid are already gone. I think this is the fourth week in a row for this to happen. I do appreciate the show of love. I am fairly sure it is because of LO. The amount of mentors he has in the community is heartwarming. One of his mentors came over to our table today and gave him a Highlight magazine. She had brought it to the restaurant hoping to see him there. She is a retired widow with no children of her own and she loves the hugs LO freely gives.

Time to put toes up for a bit. *POOF*

we had 1 on our bed when got our RV. It now lies across the top back of our couch. I would have been forever moving it & 2 small pillows in the bedroom & there's no place to put them. Look very nice on couch however.

I ended up crawling into bed to read some of the book that I was almost finished and ended up testing the inside of my eyelids for cracks. (I think someone here used to say that.)

DH took the cookies/sweets to the temple for me - he was bored hanging out here at home anyway, and in the quiet of no TV, I wrapped up my first draft. Will let it sit for awhile and nap for 45 minutes only. Haven't heard from dd so assume her trip is still on, she's only about 2 hours away from home.

I'll s2s before we go to temple tonight; I assume we'll just eat something here and not try to go out.

You've all been so productive today! I did make up bed (adding a blanket) and dusted guest room and master bedroom. Ran dishwasher and have unloaded it. One lol done and ready to fold.

We missed church since DH has an earache and sinus issues. He has sinus meds and a warm compress on the ear has helped. He heard a pop and his ear has opened up, so that is better.

Talked to DD. She has fall break (from teaching) in 2 weeks and wants me to come see her. It's a 10 hour drive, but I think I will go! That should give me cause to get busy around here. Never like to leave things undone before a trip.

Re: Decorative pillows--We have 4 in the whole house. Don't like to deal with them much.

Oh, my... I have not been productive at all this afternoon, elly! Went to church this morning and have been pretty lazy the rest of the day.
I did finally start a load of laundry, helped dh slightly w/the trash collection for tomorrow, and wrote a check for the paper man.
Otherwise... not so much.
DH unloaded the dishwasher.

Decorative pillows... well... I've made good use of ours for napping this afternoon!
We have a bunch on the corners of the couch, and all over the love seat, it seems, but they DO get in the way sometimes. If ds is here & sits on the couch, the first thing he does is throw the pillows onto the love seat. DH & I like the ones we use for napping, though. (However, since we DO use them, I must admit they look much more "used/practical" now, rather than "decorative.")

I think your couch sounds great, too, Harriet. We need to get ours re-done.

That is sooo sweet, how people are blessing you w/random acts of kindness, OKay! And no one is more deserving of it than you & your dfamily!!! LOTS of (((BIG HUGS))) for all of you!!!

You are doing great, Harmony! WTG on inspiration from television program! (I tend to just watch those shows and feel smug that even though I'm lazy, I'm not as bad off as they are! You actually got some good out of it!)

We should be more self-sufficient, mamap! Dbil hunts dove sometimes; that's about the extent of it in our family. One of my late dgfathers was more of a rabbit & squirrel hunter, and I think "back in the day," they did sometimes eat rabbit, but in his later years, that was more just an exercise to run his dogs. He & my dgmother loved to fish, also... but man cannot live by fish alone. Well, I guess he can, but I'd hate to try it. Anyway... we are NOT very self-sufficient around here, and the day may come when we wish we were!

Laughing w/Harriet @ mechanical "pick a number," Dee! I think that's a pretty neat site, really... but I'll probably stick to old-fashioned way, trying to force myself to go down the list in priority of MUST DO NOW order.

DH & ds were sorta at cross purposes this morning at church --
DS/ddil need us to keep dgs tomorrow and we were both very much looking forward to it, but dh had in mind that dmil could keep him long enough for us to go to Wmart. That makes me sorta nervous (b/c she can't really lift him out of his seat or walk around with him; mainly she would just have to call us if some kind of emergency occurred. We'd only be 5 minutes away, maybe, but that's a long 5 minutes in a real emergency, you know?) But anyway -- I was okay w/it if ds & ddil were okay with it.
They were NOT okay w/it... ddil particularly was concerned when we did that before.
So... I agreed w/them, we should just take dgs with us to Wmart or go tonight.
DH was just being difficult...he was NOT going to take dgs to Wmart -- it takes us forever to get out of there anyway on Mondays, without having to stop to talk w/a million people who want to oooh & aaah over dgs... * sigh * (I'd probably enjoy that part, you know, but he's right, it would take us longer.) DH also was fussing b/c ds/ddil don't "trust" us to know how to do... yada yada yada... * sigh *
I think it's all worked out, and we are going to go tonight... but I hate the conflict, as you can all imagine.
Oh -- and dh also mentioned that people who apparently don't know enough to write thank you notes within 3 months ought not to be telling US what to do! I had to agree w/that one.

And now I'll worry that I should delete that paragraph in case ddil or someone is on our "guest" list here... *more sighs*

LOL, Lucylee! I love "listening" to you - I thought your dh would be in heaven today because AU won yesterday? (Unlike a certain orange team?)

News from the temple that we have fired the gal who cleans and sets up - she had given her notice but was working through the HHD while we found someone. She didn't show up yesterday for torah study and morning services and today for the big RH set up.

DD called and is on her way here.

Well, Twins, the happiness re: football around here is of a mixed-emotions type.
Yes, dh was happy that we won, mainly b/c AU has not started a season 0-3 in his lifetime; the last time was in 1950, the year before he was born... so he really feared that was a possibility yesterday and he was relieved that it didn't happen.
OTOH... the chances of us winning more than 3 games this season are pretty much slim & none... and you can bet we won't win that game against a certain crimson-colored team that you & I have as a common enemy... so... yeah.
As ds put it, if this had been the last game of the season, we'd be really happy... but knowing we've got seven more weeks of this to go makes it really hard to enjoy yesterday's "success."

Sorry 'bout your Vols, too. We really want Dooley to do well. He's got to be a good guy, coming from good stock. I think all Auburn people love both his parents!

I, too, have been laughing at the computer picked random numbers, LucyLee. Just saying I MIGHT use that when I'm stuck on stuck. This village tends to give me the pushes I need most of the time.

A new family moved in the spot where the guy was that was 'evicted' 2 weeks ago. Dh was talking to them today. They're here for 6 weeks. Small world category -they're from not too far from where dh and I graduated. When dh asked why here (that's 200 miles away -nearly) seems their young teenage dd has come here for radiation for Hodgkins Disease. Dh told them he was available any time they needed to talk or support. They were a little taken back when he told them that's exactly what he had many years ago and is here to tell about it.

Went to dgs7's race for a little bit this afternoon. I know why this Grandma does not go often. They all will be going to NJ Thursday for the weekend.

Getting very cloudy, but I don't think it's supposed to rain until Tuesday. Have to be at the city teaching hospital tomorrow at 8:30. DH is going for a COPD study. DDIL#2 told him about it. He's quite concerned right now about the S p iriva he's on (morning maintenance inhaler). He had cataract surgery 3 years ago and suddenly needed glasses a few weeks ago. He's not been real happy with them and said last night his vision was quite cloudy. He will be asking the study doctors about it. Failing that, I guess the next step is to call his pulmonary doctor.

Have a mammaogram and supposed to have a bone density done on Friday. When I made the appointment the gal asked why I was having the bone density. Seems insurance won't cover unless there's a good reason for requesting it. My Dr. just felt it was time to have another. Had one about 10-12 years ago I think it was. So whether I'm having it =I don't know. Guess I'll find out when I get to the hospital on Friday. Haven't even told dh I have this scheduled while they're gone. Just routine.

Dee, yes, I knew there were online sites for random number generation - CPA who do audits need random numbers for selection when they take a statistical sample. We used to have lists of random numbers and would choose a random page to start on. Now Excel will generate random numbers and there are also the online sites. It's been a very, very long time since I've done an audit and needed random numbers. I never thought about using them for chore bingo.

Okay, finally going to get into the shower now.
