I was up late watching TV with DS19 and then fell asleep on the bed until around 6 am then went upstairs and slept till almost 1pm. If ya'll haven't figured it out yet I hate mornings and like to sleep late on my days off. :|

Tried to coup but there is still to much blood in my caffiene system to be able to keep any thoughts together.

Gonna get the DKs to help tidy the house, DP and DPH are taking me to a concert tonight and DS13 is watching their DS so I'd like it at least somewhat tidy. DP called and they are scouring bookstores for Get Your Act Together she is having trouble finding it, B&N didn't have it now she is going to Books a million to check there.

Run Laundry ()Wash () dry () fold () put away

I will get working on all of that soon first I'm going to work on creating a card file system.

Today is a catch up day for me after being out of the house most of yesterday running errands. I've got a long list in my head (& visual reminders all around the house) of things I need to do. For example, there's ddog -- I need to clip her nails. There are some presents on the dining room table -- I need to wrap dniece's gifts. Here on the desk are several scraps of paper, a book & a magazine -- I need to do a little research online & then toss the papers, recycle the mag & put away the book. There is chipped polish on my nails -- time to remove it all. There's also a text & 2 emails to send, & a phone call to make. What should I make for dinner? No clue. I think I'll browse our kitchen thread for some inspiration.

Hi Kathryn, love the sum examples you gave, especially the reminder that 15 minutes an hour adds up to 2 hours of work on a project. Oh, & this made me smile: "I'm counting on dd moving back and pushing out babies to keep me distracted while her brother is gone." :)

Wow, Dee, 200 trick or treaters? That's a lot of kids! My ddog would lose her voice if the doorbell rang that much in a day :) . Hope your shoulder feels better soon.

Hi CathyS, hope you find fun things at the flea market today. Roller Derby sounds exciting 8-) .

Hi Harriet, hope you get everything accomplished that you want to with you with the help of your family today.

Hi Helia, I vote for a low key fall for you :) . You spend so much of your time doing for others, consider allowing yourself this gift of time to do some things just for yourself.

Hi Twins, enjoy your walk with ddogs.

Hi Nancy, hope the air quality improves for you soon.

Hi Ivy, hope your ear feels better soon. How cool to learn you are a writer 8-) . Do you write for children or adults?

Hi MT, what an unfortunate/expensive accident your fellow club member had with his RV.

Hi Lucylee, congrats on the good habits! :) Enjoy the ballgame.

Hi to Kally whose porch light I saw on earlier :) .

Hi Scattered, enjoy the concert. I'm glad you liked P&P's "Get Your Act Together". Have fun setting up your cardfile! :)

My tea is long gone. Time to peek into one or two other threads here, have some lunch & then get some work done. Waving ~~~~~ to everyone -- have a wonderful day!

!foop

Mystery is always finding fun ways to transport virtually, my favorite being "Here's your slide!", which she first used to describe a link to another of our pages. I have used that one a bunch of times. (apologies to Bill Engvall) I think !foop is just the exclamatory reappearance of a villager who has poofed.

there is still to much blood in my caffiene system to be able to keep any thoughts together.

:D

I'm now thinking of doing some radical things, like picking up my knitting hobby again

Dove, you are a genius at inclusivity, memory and encouragement! HRH did pet care this a.m., too - it was flea med day, so Sammie is happy for the attention and Tobias is just weirded out. The difference between cats and dogs!

ANYONE need a flea med reminder? 'Tis the (western hemisphere) season!

Ivy, I had 30-plus stories and articles published in magazines when I was tapped by the "Local and State" editor of our regional paper to start a column under contract to them. For seven years I wrote a twice-a-week column on local happenings: attending political meetings, openings, events, and getting interviews with people who achieved something interesting or were mad about something interesting. Because of the demands of the column, I never got back to magazine writing, which was more fun but had no regular paycheck and had the possibility of rejection.

With my column, of course, I was never rejected (although edited), and it was less stressful in that every time I wrote, I knew I would be published. But the political aspect got ugly, our area's growth got ugly, people became quick-tempered. I burned out at about the same time as my 2 dear aunts started requiring eldercare, and finally let my contract go. The eldercare has never stopped, only changed elders. :) Magazine writing is a JOY for anyone who is okay with rejection letters, lol, because there will be more of those than acceptances. It's very expressive and creative (yay), so much less demanding or deadline-oriented than journalism. What fun to sit with the Writer's Digest - good for you.

Challenge Check In - Our living area has been turned upside-down and given a good scrubbing behind the ears! All is swiffered, vacuumed and lint-rollered.
The living area's large wall quilt has been changed to my great-grandmother-in-law's (surprisingly scary) Crazy Quilt in oranges and darks! :D (Softened with my paternal grandmother's pineapple doily over the top of the rod.) Both wall-hangings in the living and dining have been changed to my own autumn-toned wall quilts, Tree-of-Life and Broken Star.

I need to decide whether I'm going to go to CVS and grab one of their inexpensive autumn door wreaths I was admiring. Also need to decide whether I'm going to take down some of the slightly-Christmasy decor around the living-dining areas. If I hide it completely for a while, bringing it back out later will seem more festive, won't it?

Yes, I think it will, Harriet. :) --Though, I am certainly not the expert on holiday decor. Just this week, our gardener guy took away our Cmas tree that had been deposited in our yard by dh behind some huge evergreens so it wasn't visible to the road. It was visible to anyone in our house, though.

Yes, I thought scattered's quote was a case in point. . . ;) I'm sure we all feel that way at times, though.

Flea med day here too!! Lily and Pepper have been properly poisoned. .. .er, treated. Hehehe! :D Western or northern hemisphere?

Back from the groc. store. I am making apple crisp as another friend is bringing a salad. This is a perfect day for baking, cold and rainy.

Off to get that going.

Harriet - What an awesome way to easily decorate for each season.

Did the flea med a couple of days ago... but part of the reason I need to sweep/vacuum my BR is they are attacking my ankles again so I need to re-apply some Borax. Hopefully once I declutter up there I can obliterate them completely. Gonna work through it slowly like PJ & PY suggest.

Well, I didn't want to spend the $10 but after considering how much time it would take to create the system on my own I decided that $10 wasn't all that much. I called DP who is still out, she can't find the book and will order it on Amazon, but she is going to pick up a pack of card stock for us to print the system on. I have a paper cutter (type used for scrap-booking) so I will be able to print and cut our cards tomorrow.

I threw on a tank top and shorts so I guess it is time to boot up Bert & Ernie (my washer & dryer) and get moving.

Afternoon Y'all...

Scattered, you made me laugh with the Bert and Ernie comment. They were my son's favorite. When he was about 3 I bought him 2 goldfish...he named them Bert and Ernie, then when I had to replace them they became Snick and Snack. When came time to replace them my ds decided to call them fish and chips. Still makes me laugh. And oh, buy the way you're really not a recluse, just a house hugger ;-)

As for the card system, while I was cleaning the kitchen, I was just thinking about making cards, pasting them on colorful 8.5x11" paper, slipping them in a plastic sheath and placing them in a 3 ring binder. Can set the notebook up much like a card file and it would be easy to store.

just thought to share this with y'all. You know those perfumed strips that come in magazines....the ones that you open and can smell??? I tear the strips out, date them and then put them in all my clothes drawers. Sometimes I have more than one in each drawer or shelve. The date helps me remember which strip is the oldest.

Update on Willis and Sadie TWD. Test came back confirming that Willis does indeed have Valley Fever...Vet thought so just by looking at the x-rays, but the blood test confirms it. So Willis will start the same oral anti-fungus meds that Sadie is on. She just finished her second round and already had an vet appointment next week. My regular vet will x-ray her esophagus area to see if her limps nodes are still swollen. May have to do a blood test as well. Luckily the daily meds are not as expensive as they were in the past. Seems that the cases of Valley Fever are very high this year for both humans and animals, particularly dogs. Easy to understand. The fungal spores are found naturally in the desert dirt. Now think about all those dust storms we've had this year.....

http://www.medicinenet.com/valley_fever/article.htm

Harriet...I bought a hedge hog stuffed toy for Sadie....Willis' toys are suppose to be indestructible..yeah right...but Sadies got what I call a soft mouth and his toys make her mouth bleed. Anyway she love to play with her toy and has taken to carrying it all around the house...we've renamed it her "baby". She tore a hole in it while playing so I stitched it back together again. First time I used regular thread but doubled it while sewing. She got through that. I repaired it with industrial type thread, and I think it will hold this time.

Lucylee....Last year we were required to keep a 3" binder to use for part of our evaluation process. It was called our "artifacts book". We had to include all sorts of lesson plans, tests we gave, examples of communications we used with our parents and way much more. After 20 years of receiving excellent evaluations from more than 6 principals, the whole idea just made me crazy. Didn't make sense that I needed to prove I did my job well. Just ask my kids or come into my class anytime. So much so that I labeled the cover of my note book...In really big letters...My Tap Dancing Book. and gave it to my evaluator. Once a rebel always a rebel I guess. ;-)

This will be short, but I did want to check in. I had started a post on my laptop this morning that I didn't get a chance to finish -- Dfriend found herself w/an extra ticket to her kids' school's benefit and asked me along. I did win a prize in the basket raffle -- a bunch of Toy Story 3 stuff, most of which I think will be going to my nephews, so long as I remember to send it. At any rate, dd has currently hijacked my laptop to show her Dfriend (my Dfriend's DD) some stuff,so I'm on DH's iPad, and I am NOT used to using what passes as a keyboard here, hence the brevity.

It has started to storm here; I hope DH is finished with the stuff he was doing out at camp today. We have an invitation from our Dfriends to play games this evening, so I hope DH gets home soon.

And yes, !fooP is just a reverse Poof!

Doubt I'll be back tonight, but you never know!

Dh has gone to his office for awhile, we will watch the FL state (his alma mater) tonight. I'm going to putter a bit and get some misc stuff done.

-refill meds containers for the week
-move antique clock to the desk it was on at the old house
-switch out buffet lamps (the ones that went on that desk got placed on the buffet in the DR when we got here)
-take out kitchen trash
-Reboot laundry over to dryer

Just found out that my BFF has been lurking here all this month now she needs to post!!! If she doesn't post soon I'm gonna call her out by "name." She did admit that I inspired her and she has downloaded the book I'm reading. Wish she lived closer we could add her to the partnership. :(

Not getting what I want done today, my neck is bugging me because of my stint on the couch last night. I think I will flip the laundry then take some meds and try laying down. DP will not let me back out of going out... she has made it her mission to extricate me from my self imposed hermitage. DP will be at 8:45 which means I have until 7:30 before I need to s2s for the concert.

Ivy, I'm glad your ear/neck is getting better. Probiotics, a very good thing when one is on antibiotics. I've never had a dr. recommend, though. Kuddos for yours suggesting it.

Well I am a lazy slug today. I slept in and stayed in bed all morning. When I got up I went to the sewing room and was amazed how good I felt. Yep. My best time is always when I just get up, whenever that is. So I got some sewing done and some planning...

My new habit is to pick up or do one thing each and every time I walk through the kitchen. Put one thing away. Move one paper to a different place, etc. It adds to the sum of things I do in there each day and doesn't make it such a big project when I clean up that room. It appears to be working nicely.

No calls from either dr. I suppose I could have called one of them, but I'm chicken. Right now it's easier to deal with the tiredness than face whatever is causing it.

Twins, I hope you are feeling good today.
