Lucylee, Lucylee. GIVE IT UP!!! Who cares if she writes the cards or not. In the cares of the wide world this is peanuts. I can't see obsessing about what my kids do. If I can do what I am supposed to do - let them do what they want to do. Nuff said.

It is nice to be back in shorts weather. It was getting cold back there in MO and KS. Now my body doesn't steam after the shower. Tomorrow night in a new place so that should make up for the last two that are old favorites.

Lucylee <Caution - Northern-style rant> You have to give this up. That you even thought (let alone said aloud, even to someone else) the comment about the nail polish is a sign to me that this is probably affecting your actions towards her in unvoiced but perceivable ways and it will strain your relationship.

As someone who never lived up to her dmil's expectations, I'll speak up here. Her expectation was that I'd leave dh. She drove enough of a wedge between us that I stayed away as much as possible and stayed at a hotel when visiting. Sometimes, when they were older, the kids would stay at the house and we'd stay in a hotel but that was the most that happened and her relationship with my kids was more distant than it might have been.

She wasn't an awful person. She had a generous heart but didn't ever approve of my/our parenting style. Dh didn't want to put up with the sighs, comments and slights against me (like not including me in family photos so there were no pictures of her and I to put out at the funeral - it was as if I hadn't been her ddil for 20 years) so he distanced us from her. She and I had a fabulous last 3 months together as I spent as much time as I could in Toronto, caring for her so she would die at home. But the 20 years before that, our relationship was completely different and because of that distance, I'm not close to two of my dsisILs either. </northern rant.>

Ddogs saw little boys from next door peeking out, and when I went out to calm the ddogs down, the new neighbors came over to visit. I think the two little boys are his boys that live with dmom most of the time. Ddaughter we think is her daughter who also spends time with her father. The boys wore Moses out throwing the ball for him.

Dh got back from home Despot and installed the screws that will anchor the bookcase at the top, and then found that the screws were too big for the keyhole at the back top level of the bookcase. So he's gone back to home depot.

I'm feeling I haven't gotten much done today and like I said he is making me crazy. I'm to the point I'd almost rather hire someone to do things.

This round....
-take out paper recycling
-hang up the delicates from washer
-write a short "intro" for the temple directory
-transfer undone Sept to-dos into FP
-start on supper? We were going to grill burgers, but it appears that rain may be starting soon

Oy vey. I am so sick of temple biz right now. I just dodged (screened the call) a call from the temple member who is our physical properties chairperson. Last round just sent an email instead of a DPC. There are things I just can't face right now.

I'd like to think ds and I are still plain-spoken enough to each other that I could (not necessarily would, but could) put my hands on my hips, tap my foot, and say, "Thank-you notes. Write 'em." :D We do need to "pick our battles" with children, however, and pick them much more carefully when the child is a married adult. TY notes are not paramount.

I wrote the bulletins for Pet Blessing services back when I was church secretary for a U. Meth church something like a decade ago, I think.

Deb, well then I also need to tell you "no offence" for my bringing up the London rat situation, as I told helia, whose dear rat is now deceased.

From the "Got to have a little bragging." * department - Ds27 got the results back from this year's testing at his municipal fire department. In written and orals he was the top scorer. In agility and strength he was top in each part except for the single-weight lift, in which one other man beat him with a single press of almost 300 pounds, and the mile run, in which one (different) man had a faster time. (Ds runs with 3 pieces of metal in one foot because of a fall and subsequent surgery, but never reminds anyone, and most who are not captains or chiefs have no idea.) HRH said, "So he's fine as long as no one expects a young firefighter to run AWAY from a fire. I think he's got it covered, then." (LOL)

* Now that Andy Griffith has passed away, perhaps I should again say that "Got to have a little bragging." is a quote from him.

I managed to get in and out of the church parking lot without nipping the bumpers of any visitors' cars. Dd14 helped keep nursery in the stead of our minister's wife, who had to leave her turn because her mother had surgery.

On advice from the fitter-person at the medical supply place, dd and I dashed out to the sporting goods store and found an additional type of ankle support today. That store is beside the book store and we each found a book. Mine is kind of an amusing choice for me because it is one of those "beautiful children's rooms that aren't known in the real world" books. I thought I would enjoy it and then give it to dd32. That's right, a mother with 3 stairstep little boys and a full-time job has plenty of time to do this exquisite decorating, right? LOL

Dee, I sent you a PM. :D I had a question to ask is all.

I got in a nap and did some reading. DH has been watching football, fed the birds, and I downloaded some free books. I hope to do some more reading this evening and maybe write some letters, too. :?: I'm being kind of lazy this afternoon turning into evening.

Harriet, It's great that Ds27 got the top score on his written and orals. Wow. He's mighty strong, too.

Twins' Mom, Sorry about those screws and DH needing to return to home depot.

Kathryn, I had a strained dmil relationship. For years. Caught in the middle of her and DH. Generous, but never let anyone forget it.

Lucylee, I have adult kids, a ddil and 7 grsons who never write thank yous. I make sure that I do though, because it's just the way I am. It seems like modern guys and gals believe a quick verbal thanks is enough, when written means so much. Such is the beast, I guess. :?:

Harmony, Hope you're better soon.

Scattered - zofran! You got it! That med is amazing. The ER doctor gave us a prescription so we could have some at home. I consider it a treasure to have on hand! Hopefully we won't have to do a 60 mile drive for ER visit in middle of the night as well as pay ER $$$ if this ever happens again. LO also got a dose of steroid at ER and a 10 day supply of antibodies today.

I took care of seven 2 year olds by myself this morning during church service. Let me tell ya....THAT is a hand full. We sung songs, had a quick Bible story and then played non-stop. The knees of my jeans were caked with dirt/mud from walking on my knees as I played with them. Busy. Busy. BUSY! remember....we met in a horse arena. We don't have "normal" classrooms with doors. I put up 3' fold out baby gate type fences at 2 ends of the open aisle leading to row of horse stalls to keep the little ones corralled. After church they told me that was too many little ones for one person to keep up with. YOU THINK? They got another person to volunteer to help me from now on. *PHEW*

DGS17 and DGS15 had a good mexican meal together. I was comforting to hear them talk their usual non-stop about everything in their world. We went to several stores in the mall and they both found shoes that thrilled them. Have you seen the BRIGHT colors of shoes now? I love em' but the neon colors are certainly bright.

Went to Sam's for to get items on buy list. Tomorrow is LO snack day at school and I'm wimping out and sending bakery bought cookies. I'll make the normal school run in the morning and drop the cookies off and let the teacher know LO is going to miss school for 48 hours.

OKay, That's sure a LOT of 2-year-olds for 1 person! Glad you got help for next time! :!:

It's great that Zofran helped, too. :)

I've seen some neon shoes on TV. Some athletes are wearing them, too. They practically blind you when you look at them!

We'll have dinner in a little while. I don't know where the evening will lead me though. There are several things which need attending to. :?:

I never got my to do list transferred but I've had enough for the night. I wrote what I needed to write, dh got the shelves anchored and we made supper of grilled hamburgers and sweet potato fries. I also proofed the temple directory, lots of errors there.

I am giving up for the night and reading for awhile. Tomorrow may be a long day

Nice dinner and got caught up on Big Bang Theory. Dh and I had missed the last three episodes from last season as well as the season opener. Unfortunately, while I got the ironing done, I didn't get the vacuuming done. And I still have a report to write for tonight, so I'll get that done and vacuum tomorrow.

It only takes 15 minutes to get that done so I'm really kicking myself for lying in bed an extra 30 minutes after waking up instead of getting to it so I could enjoy my 'up' time with ds. That's the biggest issue I have with the fatigue is that I'm constantly trying to make the most of each productive minute I have because I have so few hours in the day when I have enough energy to be productive.

I helped dh clean up the kitchen and he took out the garbage and recycle. So that's done and we won't have to scramble in the morning.
