Helia - you have such a good outlook on a difficult time in your relationship with DMom. It is easy to see you carefully consider all aspects and don't take offense where it would be easy to. You are awesome!

A unknown pickup and trailer started backing up into our driveway. They missed the driveway and had to try again. Then they almost hit the yard fence. I didn't know who it was (burglar?) but when they got close to knocking my TREASURED yard fence down I took off running out the door hollering STOP! STOP!

it turned out to be friend from NDakota coming to pick up his horses he left in our pasture at the beginning of the summer. I am worried about him because of the way he is driving. He is very experienced driver who has hauled trailers for years. I called DBrother and gave him heads up so he can be on watch and maybe say something to friend if he sees erratic behavior.

Off to pick up DParents

(((helia))) I have the similar with my dmom. My dd's keep "quotes from" grandma (her name) on their cell phones and think we should send it into modern family. Dh is not as grown up as your dh regarding my mom, dh will say hello at a distance but will not go anywhere my dmom is attending after last month. I went to a really good therapist to help me through how to deal with situations. Realizing she wasn't going to change, to be the naturally warm gentle mom i want her to be, and that she can not have a deep conversation about feelings and come to a middle of the road understanding (she goes to fast to defense - seeing it from her eyes only - it's just who she is). I wish I could - sometimes we get close to a honest conversation but never truly as she doesn't let her defenses down enough to accept she can be overbearing and that our parenting is so different. It is so good that your dh and your dbrother support you. ((()))

how lucky to have a friend come over and go for a walk

hi ok - junior ring ceremony was a big thing at my school (catholic) and seems to be for ddyounger (she just transferred). parents and grandparents come usually (my dmom) is sick so she can't come and dh falls asleep early since the cancer a couple years ago... they bless the rings and there is a ceremony that goes with it.

twins have a great day with your errands

book I like your 9 x 9's

lynn have a good night

mt sunrise over the bluffs sounds wonderful

scattered glad you got a goodnight sleep

hello all
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Haven't cuop since my post this morning. I didn't end up snoozing. DH came in & I had him put the bed up for me. Got several things out from there. One was a box of pictures labeled DS-A. Wanted to find baby pictures of him to compare with their new baby. Can't find any baby ones but several when he was probably a year on. What a blondie he was back then. Nobody believes me. He gradually got darker hair after he started school. Lots of memories of all of them growing up in our home!

Dh called and let me know the laundry room was empty so took a load of coloreds up. Put them in the dryer and went to the storage truck to get out suitcases. (Let the packing begin). Took some things over to DD's MH. Found a box of 3 Web kins under the bed, which I'll probably give mostly to new dgs this Christmas. DSGD had a boy about 2 a month ago so will probably give him one. Found a really pretty night light that I bought from P arty L ite some time ago and had wondered where it was. It's almost like a crystal vase. Haven't decided whether to use it here or take it to FL. I have another lamp in the truck that I really need to do something with -it's a carved wooden piece of a Grandma & Grandpa in front of a fireplace. We bought it in Canada for my parents' 25th anniversary -so it's old. Not good leaving it in the storage unity to bake and freeze.

We have a filing cabinet up there with 3 empty drawers. Thinking I'll try going through a lot of papers I have up there and shred, toss & file. Can't possibly need them all. I do know that one whole bin is records from DS-A from 2005. Think I'll flip through them first and see what probably should be saved and take them to them. Not sure if that will happen this fall but hope so.

Know my wedding gown is up there (spelled that "weeding" first). I really need to do something with that. What good is it stored away in a rubber maid bin to never be seen or anything else? Perhaps I'll take a picture of it now and see if there's a place I can donate it or something. No one in my family will ever be able to wear it. They're either too tall or not of a build to wear it. Those were the days when I was extremely skinny. It was an 8 -taken in. Of course today that 8 would probably be a much smaller number.

MysteryWoman, I have dry-form AMD, cataracts, and epi retinal membrane on the left eye and the vitreomacular adhesion on the right eye. I'm thrilled I'm NOT wet yet! :D I know the adhesion can be very serious if he needs to do surgery on it and there is a risk of a macular hole or macular pucker or blindness, but I have the left eye. To me, life happens, life moves on and God helps sustain us, too. To me, if I lost an arm or leg, it'd be more serious.

Dee, I hope you get to feeling better. DH has diabetes, too.

Twins' Mom, Enjoy your day. It sounds busy, but like a good productive day.

Booksaver, I was wondering if you had a Nook or Kindle, use the library, buy from bookstores or books on-line and if you buy used books, like I do, too?

Helia, You sound like you have patience with your DMom.

OKay, That's terrible about the pickup and trailer! My goodness, they sounded like a terrible :( driver, too.

scattered, Glad you slept better, too.

Nancy, Granny duty's fun. :D

MT, Your picture in words was wonderful to read.

Today's desk day, I did some last night, too, so my ta da is:
- tidied 3 desk drawers; 1 to go
- wrote down a 9-item index card, which has tips on it, for writing or life in general.
- redecorated the desk.
- put the boom box in the office on a shelf.
- organized 2 baskets and dejunked some papers.
- dumped trash
- found some written office 3 x 5's in a drawer to use, too.
- said my prayers, read my devotion, and wrote in my journal a lot; the regular journal and writing journal, about stories and junk.
- got out my only photo of my mother and father and me, as an infant.
- prayed my Novena for myself and others.
- sorted out my cards.
- counted my Blessings.

DH built a fire because the house is cool. It's in the lower 40's now outside and will be in the upper 60's today. DH takes his DFriend out for belated lunch today.

I had 2 rough nights of sleep this weekend, wonderful sleep Mon. p.m., rough last night, so will be sure to walk today, so can sleep better tonight. I drank coffee too late yesterday; 2 cups, plus had that dye fluid in me, too. I must've used the bathroom a dozen times in the night. Not fun. Today's desk day, I wanted to be alert and get a lot done, but will just do what I can.

I got excited last night because 1 of my recipes got posted at Debbie Macomber's website. :D

Nancy Thanksgiving is on Monday. Not sure if we'll have a turkey but I have a frozen, stuffed, Butterball that I got on sale. Seems like overkill for 2 of us but ds will be doing his Scuba certification so won't be able to come or hustle up some friends to bring along. Can't think of anyone from church who isn't paired off either.

I'm tired. May go back to bed now. I've been up since around 9:20.

I'm just back from walking with dfriend. We walked for about 1:10 and then we had tea and chatted some more. :) She has left now. Today is her day off; she is an OR nurse at our children's hospital.

I'm in the process of cutting up onions and garlic for chili, but was crying from the juices, so I decided to take a break and see how you all are faring.

Thank you for the kind comments re: my dmom. She is a remarkable woman, very strong.

((blessed)) I understand; some of that w/ your dmom sounds familiar. It is helpful to accept people as they are. I hope the ring ceremony goes well!

--This sat here while I took a phone call. I got the onions and garlic diced while I was on the phone.

Next:
-get chili going
-switch laundry
-1 dpc

Dd14 should be home in about 30 minutes. Dd16 has a meeting after school, so she'll be home a little later.

Tried to read through the posts so that I could do shout-outs but my sidetracked mind is just not focusing.

Okay - I actually DVR'd the Today show this morning to watch her. Good for her!!!

Thanks for all the shout-outs, it is nice to not feel like I have to take a nap. Need to work on my essay, dinner will just need a little finishing in about an hour. I love Crock-pots!!!
