((Cowinkie)) That is truly awful and sad. I saw some photos online of the damage, and many of them reminded me of photos after the Japanese tsunami.
I am getting bogged down in emails. My fault: I'm writing too long. I'm writing in response to my retreat rough draft. I also wrote my parents to tell them I won't be coming down this weekend. Dh and I both feel our family needs some positive family time together.
After the dentist this a.m., dh and I met up for coffee. We may meet up around 5 pm for a jog; that would be good for me. I just need to get over the fact that it is cold outside. I have warm clothes to wear.
I had a horrendous leg cramp last night -- calf, foot, AND thigh at the same time. My other leg was starting to simultaneously cramp up too. I was so alarmed, I jumped out of bed so fast --- I almost fainted. I had that cold clammy nauseous feeling, with spots before my eyes (yes, in the dark) and a ringing in my head. . .I had to eventually sit down and put my head down to stay conscious. This sort of thing has happened before; I think my bp is a bit on the low side. Also, I do not stay hydrated very well, so I'm trying to drink a lot of water today. Needless to say, I didn't sleep well after that.
I'm going to work on my retreat and get a 2nd draft done.

Re: It's Wednesday
Hello Dear Ladies,
(((Cowinkle)) It's hard to lose our roots.
It's another sunny day here. Called Daunt in Upstate NY yesterday. She is doing fine, just got wind and rain.
Praying for all those in the path of the storm that weren't as fortunate. Thinking of all those in the cities without power. I think it is harder on those in the city to go through a power outage. When you live in the the rurals, you are set up better for outages. We have a generator and a gas stove so could and have survived for days without power.
Yesterday I finished laundry then had to take Dson16 to the doctor's as he was running a high fever, had a headache and sore throat. Did the strep test, which was negative, said it was some kind of infection. Got anti-biotics for him. He is doing better today.
Today I cleaned a bathroom and the laundry room.
Work day for me. Think I will read for a while and then get ready.
Great day to all!

Re: It's Wednesday
Home. Not successful time after Presbytery. First, I left there 45 minutes late so shortened my lunch. Had to pick up probiotic drinks for dh but it didn't work - they were out of stock. And the same store was out of large eggs. Sigh... Stopped at another store on the way home and got eggs, butter and a sweet potato. Skipped picking up the mail to save time.
I'm down for a nap right now because I'm exhausted but I can't be in bed long because I still have to decorate.
Ivy: no, I didn't stick to a schedule yesterday. Am doing better today but still behind. I hate days when there are hard deadlines (i.e. I can't put off Halloween decorating until tomorrow, or even until after supper.)

Re: It's Wednesday
(((Twins))) I know what you mean by people who don't take responsibility and follow through.
Kathryn, I didn't know there were probiotic drinks. Sorry they were out of stock. Sometimes it's impossible to stick to a schedule. I'm "off" today, too. I hate hard deadline days, too.
Once, I went to a Girl Scout Leader Conference. One of the things they said during a speech, resonated with me. "BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN LEARNING!" How true! There are many people who want "others" to do what they should be doing for themselves. I guess it's being human- for some.
(((Cowinkie))) I'm sorry you have to experience this. It must be so distressing and sad to see. Many (((♥))) to you.
I looked up at the TV this morning. DH had "The Price is Right" on. I turned to him and asked, "What's everybody dressed up like they're in a carnival for?"
DH said, "It's Halloween!"
I felt stupid.
I'd forgotten all about it.
I have the candy on the counter, so I should have known better.
Nancy, You do have nice weather today! It's pouring rain here.
Harriet, You're right about the Japanese-born expatriates and the nuclear plant.
Blessed, Happy Halloween to you, too!
And to scattered, Twins' Mom, Harriet, Cowinkie, Nancy, Harmony, Norma, helia, Sadie, and others.
I'm just quickly cuop, got a lot on my plate today, and am just baby-stepping today. DH said he'll help dust/dust mop, there's no laundry to do, and he just took garbage/recycle up and is visiting his friend. I fixed meds for the week and have been planning out the rest of this week on into next week. Ddil is in the hospital, which is week #3, but the baby's really strong. Ddil got shingles and viral meningitis. She emailed today, she's so sweet, and is trying to get strong enough to go home this weekend.

Re: It's Wednesday
I'm home for an hour. Had to cancel pumpkin carving with DGS's because DMom's outpatient check in & MRI took longer than we had hoped.
Supper is ready to put on table. As soon as DH gets home we will eat, get LO back into his costume then head out.
((((Cowinkle)))) Take your time dealing with this loss and grief. I enjoy hearing about your childhood memories.

Done with that round. The email took a very long time to write - I've dawdled on an important temple project and need to get a meeting set up and the project underway quickly.
This round:
-letters to disgruntled members
-empty the dishwasher and reload
-email to bookkeeper with question
-get out new month FP and transfer to-dos
-clear the kitchen table

Re: It's Wednesday
Productive day here.
Rx refills are done yea!
I've washed ice chests to be stored for winter.
Raked in the front yard and some in the back too.
2 of 3 loads of laundry done.
Walk is done.
Cleaned acorn squash to bake later.
Swept the patio, steps and by the front door.
Heading out to do a bit of pruning on the roses. x
Hens are loving this warmer weather I let them out early today as it was so nice and mild today.
Cops bird dogs were out and on our deck on point so the hens scattered to the back fence and have been happy to be there today.
I put those dogs back in their fence. Took my walking stick w/ me but they know me from my walks and stopping to let the grand kids get to pet them so I knew they were nice dogs.

Re: It's Wednesday
I caught up and was ready for the first trick or treaters (except for lighting the candles.)
I keep my foyer lights off. We have 3 steps going down to the front door from the upper main floor, so they are lit by 6 glass candle holders with different scenes on them (2 on each stair) and the candleabra at the top of the stairs is lit. Pierre (my ficus) has white lights on him and he's next to the stairs providing a bit more light. But it makes for an eerie inside to match the eerie front porch.
The garage has the haunted house sounds playing and the strobe light making funny lighting come from there. And the front porch is all decorated with the highlight being the bbq which has a cauldron cooking a skull and eyeballs on the grill all around it. Took less than an hour to set up this year, partly because I skipped on stuffing "Jack" and setting him up beside the grill with the bbq flipper in his hands. (I just grab a pair of coveralls and stuff them with towels and jackets to bulk a body and put a lit pumpkin head on him but the balancing and wiring of him takes time so I saved the effort this year.)
Part of the electrical cords will stay in place and this weekend I'll hook up the Christmas lights. Much easier to do that when I don't have to wear gloves to do the work. Today I was able to set up without having gloves or a coat on which was night. We often have very cold weather which makes set up miserable.
Steady flow but not that many. The lots are big in this neighbourhood so there's a lot of walking between houses. For those driving in from the rural routes to go door to door, they stick to the old part of the village where the houses are much closer together.

Re: It's Wednesday
Hugs to Cowinkie.
Happy Halloween to everyone! I had DD10 today as she was still not feeling up to par. She is doing well enough to go Trick or Treating with her dad though, she has not had a fever or stomach issues, just lots of gas. I slept until 1:00 this afternoon!!! Must have needed it. We have watched lots of movies, carved pumpkins, started a faux stained glass kit, built a 'bat cave' for her toy bats, and a fort. We have also made dragon food - pumpkin seeds salted boiled then fried, which she put outside for the dragons that come to my house. She has also spent time cleaning my floors with Scrubbing Bubbles, which she loves. Since she just left a little while ago, I have done nothing on the job search. My external hard drive that has all my pictures and movies seems to be having trouble. I need to transfer the pictures from my cruise and get them copied to my friends.
What I will do right now: check my job search email account, get pictures onto the functioning hard drive. Back later probably.
