I'm sorry that your dd was robbed, Kathryn. How awful. I'm so glad, though, that she & all others who posted their stories were not hurt.

Having a quiet catch up day today. After seeing the CT news around 4PM yesterday I was too sad & deflated to follow through on plans for the rest of the day. Yes, Lucylee, unimaginable grief. And you just know every adult in that building did all they could to protect those precious little ones in their care.

Saw a woman shopping in her motorized scooter yesterday & thought of our dIndi.

Here's a link to an uplifting Christmas "flash mob" someone sent me, but instead of dancing it is a church group who began singing in a busy shopping mall. It also shows people in the crowd reacting & the singing is beautiful.

lucylee, somewhere on the internet I was reading that some people in Newtown are taking down their decorations. Then there were comments that said that by doing that the shooter wins again. Or something along those lines. My house is directly across the street from a K-4th grade school and I have 2 dgs that attend school there. It just really hits home, that this can happen anywhere. All of our schools now have locked doors and intercoms at each door to try and prevent this. I keep hearing conflicting reports whether the mother was a teacher there or just a substitute. The scary thing is that even with our locked door system, this could happen if they recognize a family member of a staff member and let them in. We can not change what has happened but it once again reminds us to not take anything for granted. I know I hugged my dgs when I picked them up yesterday and didn't want to let them go.

Upstairs is done. Ds stripped and remade the bed in his room. He actually brought back another load of laundry to do. I asked how he managed to do so since I had washed all the clothes from his apartment. Apparently, I only gathered up the dirty clothes from his room, there were other things throughout the living area, plus dirty clothes in his car!

I've nagged him into changing the headlight in his car. Told him he couldn't watch a movie with his dad until that is done.

I went to bed at 12:15 a.m. Jay Leno was and his opening was somber, he didn't touch hands happily, as usual with audience members, and he went on to say because of the somber situation and tragedy, etc.... It was really nice he did that in respect for the CT victims, families, etc.... I couldn't turn my mind off, slept great, but woke and got up at 6 a.m. to journal and read.

Wishes for me, in my own little world, is to have Ddil have a healthy baby and wishes for the bigger part of our world is how I wish things like this could be prevented somehow before someone goes out of control. It's maddening and sad, but life goes on. So.......

I'm planning to do:
- dust the house
- read on Debbie Macomber's "Three Brides, No Groom."
- to write some letters.
- to crochet on a stuffed dog
- to listen to some music
- to journal some more
- check my laundry basket and do washing if needed
- to enjoy my day

I got an on and off nap in the recliner from about 8:30 - 10 a.m. :D I'm showered and shampooed, got on my long johns, etc... ;)

Kathryn, and others who've been robbed, I cannot even imagine the violation of somebody going through my things, touching our stuff, and taking things that are ours. It would take a long time to get over that feeling of being violated.

Dove, the flash mobs are so great! :D

Twins' Mom, You did good on your lab numbers! WTG! :D

Lucylee, I can certainly understand how this hits home with you, too. The CT tragedy. :(

MT, Thanks for the authors' names. :D

Waving to Dee, Helia, Harriet, Scattered and others. :D
Have a nice Saturday. :D

Ok, I'm still making progress here. Starting to get things together for tomorrow morning. Have finished the children story and rewrote the prayers. Printed that off.

I've been through the anthem for tomorrow (the alto part which I usually don't sing) and next week's anthem. There will be a practice tonight.

Ds's headlights work once more. He's pleased. He's been living with this for 5 months (apparently if you kick the headlight, it will work so he kept doing that to get his lights working, but all it was was a short in the bulb and replacing the bulbs for $20 solved the issue.)

I'm continually feeding Bert and Ernie and making progress on that front too. Time for nap soon.

Warning: RANT AHEAD: Argh!! Snarky email from my mom. I emailed her this morning, and then I called her. The phone call was fine, pleasant enough. I mentioned it here. Nothing. In my email, I asked if I should put the packages in the mail today and if they arrived at their home while they were away if there was someone who could bring them in. I was trying to be thoughtful of my parents. Her response: "It's not kind to overload the PO when they are the busiest. Or to expect someone else to take care of it. We'll let you know when we are back." The irony is: (1) this email response did not feel particularly kind to me. It felt mildly accusatory. It feels like she is more concerned about kindness to a govt. institution than to her own family. :roll: Am I being too sensitive? (2) her package to us is in the mail system as I type. I wonder if she considers that unkind?? I didn't explain well my thoughts on someone else bringing it in. I meant if someone was checking their house regularly anyway, maybe they could bring it in. I didn't mean for someone to make a special trip. We are happy to do that sort of thing for friends and vice versa. . . And my very act of asking meant I wasn't expecting, I believe.

Maybe dmom is stressed about something. Or maybe I had irritated/offended her with my email. I had written her a chatty email the other day, but I can't think of anything offensive in it. BUT this has happened before; she will be offended by the oddest things, usually assumptions made about something I had written that I never would have thought of. . . And there is my world of guessing what the heck is going on with dmom. Many many years of it.

I probably won't respond at all, except I kind of want to clear up the misunderstanding. Her accusations really bother me. . . . but there is a long history there. Fortunately, I have small group tonight so I will be surrounded by people who love and understand me.

On to other things.

Kathryn, I had to read all the posts several times before I realized dsil was your son-in-law -- not your sister-in-law. I hope all works out for their visit to you.

Done:
-dd14 to and from synchro
-Old Navy: found a black cami for back up plan if we can't find a black blouse.
-groc. store
-lentils in the crock pot
-dw emptied

Some of the vacuuming has been done. Dh tidied the living room.

Next:
-bathrooms clean
-some attention to MBR

Found half my kitchen table.

Enjoyed going through the Christmas cards that arrived. So many beautiful cards. Puts the ones I send out to shame. Sigh....

Still have to do the cards for the people we'll see tonight.

But naptime first.

~~~waving Hi to all~~~~
DGD2 birthday party was a success. At her parents request, the attendees were limited to The Greats and Grands so DGD2 was surrounded by 6 Great & Grand parents (plus LO and DGS6). DGD2 enjoyed every moment of it.
DDIL has taken DGS6 and DGD2 to visit her Great Grandparents that are confined in bed/house bound. They live about 25 miles away. Getting time spent with all the Greats and Grandparents is a full time job. :)
New details came out about the CT shootings and my heart aches and is broken. I just find it so hard to hear about, when it's on TV and it's all over the internet. I cannot fathom what the relatives, parents and grandparents, family friend, neighbors, and the officials there are going through. I have little grandchildren. So this is just so sad. :(
I'm on the verge of tears. I can't help it, in my human-ess.
I wrote 2 pen pals letters, DH drove them up to our locked community mailboxes, the mail hadn't been delivered yet, so this means my letters go out today! Yeah! :)
DH also vacuumed, fixed the fire and took 1 recycle container out, too. While he vacuumed, our kitty cat jumped up on my office desk, behind my lap top standing around-over my Nook. :roll: :shock: I was really blown away! She's been jumping on the eating bar, dining room table and coffee table, which is normal for her. But lately, she's also been jumping on my office desk and the 2 end tables in the great room. I don't know if it's her way of "acting out" or what's up with her. :?: She gets plenty of cuddle time and love. It's been this way for about 10 days. I cleared the clutter off the end tables and put it away, and this is when she started jumping up. I guess I've got clear landing pads for her now? :lol: Silly kitty!
Well, at least our kitty is a sweetheart, a very funny and odd-at-times kitty, she's entertaining, sometimes turns a somersault for no reason or chases her tail! :lol: She watches us do everything, she tries to "help" cook, she's just "right there" is we're busy or are in the middle of something. She's spoiled, too. ;) What a love. I wonder what to do about the end table jumping now?
I had a doctor tell me to put lemon juice in a spray bottle of water, to spray at kitty when she jumped up. So we thought that was a good idea. :idea: So I did what my doctor suggested, but about 6 months later, :roll: I noticed all these brown drips trailing down our white walls in the dining room and kitchen. It was stain from lemon juice! :oops: :lol: So the doctor's aren't always right. ;) Now, we just call her name, get up and walk towards her and then she gets down. Sometimes we have to touch her hinder, push a soft push and she gets down. It's like living with a toddler in the house.
Kathryn, I'm glad you found 1/2 of your kitchen table!
I loved our cards, too, and they're beautiful.
Helia, Sorry about that email from your mom.
OKay, That's great the party was a success!
