Chicken news: I FOUND AN EGG IN THE NEST BOX!!! No one is at home to share my excitement with today yet. This is the first egg we've gotten here. It's a green one from one of the Easter eggers / Americanas I'm so-o happy! Left it there for others to discover as well yippie!

Most of the chickens have found the way out of the run through the new chicken door others sigh well we have wind so will hope they figure it out sooner or later.

Dailies underway here this morning...

Crochet / knit working on learning a pattern figuring how to knit side was at an angle this week.

One errand done mailed gifts off today two I'd made fit in the same box glad that knit / crochet projects are light weight!

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE EGG, Nancy! That's great news and I hope you get some more, too.

My Dsis lives on the Coast of Oregon, has a chicken coup, a rooster and all sorts of hens, too. She gathers in eggs about 4:30 a.m. before she goes to work. She had to get rid of 1 rooster because he acted like he wanted to mate with her, he was too aggressive, and she didn't know if it was her hair conditioner or what set him off. So he's gone, but she kept the more tame one. I had other DF's in Oregon up high on a plateau near the mountains. Something started burrowing in the bottom of the hen house, and they got rid of their hens, because they were losing them. They went to a good home.

Nancy, your knit side at an angle sounds hard.

Helia, It's great that you got some gifts ordered!

I saw a sign written up in big letters, which will be displayed and it said, "Hug a teacher today!" It made me feel good that somebody made that sign!

DH has the TV on in the GR8 room, where he was before his shower, but now he's out of the shower, so the TV's on in the bedroom, also, and our house TV show is echoing in the house now!

Sort my end table basket, which means to read some magazines and informational print-outs in it.
Put patterns into files.
Declutter small office.
To walk 1/2 hour today.
Add appt.'s for 2013 to wall calendar and to 2013 day runner.
Add b-days to the above, too!
To add stickers to colored 4 x 6" index cards and write a Bible Verse, which has a lot of meaning for me, on it. Then, I'll go put 1 in my purse, in drawers, and in "my" places where only I usually go. I've added stickers to index cards & am slowly writing the Bible Verse: 2 Timothy, 1:7 on it along with 2013 goals.

It is a gorgeous day here. Bright sunshine, no wind, mid 50's. It is just toooo beautiful to stay indoors so I spent some time in the garden. Watered, weeded, and harvested broccoli (last broccoli harvest of the year). Made rice/broccoli/cheese casserole to add to variety of dishes available at lunch.

I've surfed a bit looking for conceal carry class. The one recommended by DH isn't having any classes anytime soon. I found another one close by and signed up to attend the first Saturday in January.

Not feeling very well right now... have some lower GI cramping. I think I may go lay down for a bit and see if that doesn't help. Got the errands ran and stopped by W endy's to pick up DS20 something to eat... he was STARVING! I was shocked and pleased that he got apple slices rather than fries. He is very slender but tries to be conscientious of what he eats especially since he works fast food. The flannel I needed was on sale last week, but not this week.

Gonna go take a nap and then get busy again.

That's what I get for jumping to conclusions. Now I feel better!

I also feel good that I got most of my shopping done & it's shipping (supposedly in time). Ended up not buying very much online. Bought new dgs's gifts and sent them to ddil to wrap. (sneaky). then I ordered 2 things for DGS8 and let ddil#1 know they were on the way and asked her to wrap. The fireplaces I'm buying the 2 boys families will arrive unwrapped, but so be it! Didn't tell either ddil they would be coming. Just have to pick up about 4 or 5 gift cards tomorrow, send them and I'm DONE! Well, have all the wrapping to do here.

Guess I better figure out what to fix for dinner.

Distracted again.

I had had lunch and moved the plants, then started to put up the foyer tree.

Dsil called asking me to overnight dd's government ID number card (just her name and a number) to them because she can't fly without 2 pieces of ID and the temp driver's license she was just issued says it can't be used as ID.

Searched for dd's card and couldn't find it, mine or ds's in the safes. Cleaned them both out (will shred the children's hospital cards) and was overwhelmed by the smell of mildew from the basement safe so recharged the moisture trappers in it and we'll have to get better about airing the safe at least every 2 weeks for a while.

Anyway, eventually realized that the cards are in our safety deposit box and we'd have to drive to the bank and then the airport in order to get it off to her. But there's an ice storm so we phoned FedEx to make sure they could do it (they can) and then phoned dd to find out for sure if she needs it. I can't see how another piece of ID without her married name or photo on it can help.

She's decided to give up on getting that card and will try for a passport. She doesn't have enough ID for that either unless they allow her to use the temp driver's license. Surely there has to be some dispensation for people who have been robbed.

The issue is she's at her home city. Had she been robbed away in another city, the police can issue a report that will allow her to fly home. But she's already home so they can do nothing for her aside from the burglary report. She just has to sit tight until ID gets to her in 7 - 10 business days. Which, of course, is after Christmas.

Anyway, I've spent an hour scrambling over that. Tree remains undecorated. Haven't had a nap yet either.

Dh has started dinner.

Woohoo on the eggs, Nancy and Harriet! I think we're letting our hens take a break; no lights on them right now. Or, dh is just too busy to bother with hooking up the light. Do you have lights on them inside the coops? Or do you have enough daylight where you are that they can lay on their own?

Done:
-a.m. routine
-2 lols folded; 1 put away. 3rd load in washing machine, ready to be transferred
-started wrapping presents. Wrapped gifts for dfriends in TX
-packed gifts into a box
-postal place: got that package in the mail.
-picked up dd14 and took her to her rehearsal. Apparently, it went OK; I sat in the lobby and read while dd14 and accompanist occupied one of the practice rooms. The accompanist would like 2 more sessions before the actual festival. She is an older woman, likely a piano teacher; dd14 told me she was coaching her on some dynamics, saying exactly the same thing her oboe teacher has been telling her.
-preheated oven and got out dough to bake 1 dozen cookies

Next:
-update laundry twins, B and E
-start heating up leftovers.
-remind dh that we need to eat around 6 pm so I can get dd14 to the concert by 6:45.

Kathryn, on your trip back, would it be Rochester OR Ann Arbor? Not both?

Helia It will likely be one or the other. Unless we detour and do Rochester on the way there.

Foyer tree is up. As you may recall, I have surplus of tinsel garland here (bought 150' of replacement garland last year in the after Christmas sales and then early in the season, while in the US, remembered I wanted to replace my 30 year old garlands so bought another 90', not remembering I had already handled this last year.)

Since I'm only replacing 75' on the living room, 'family memories' tree, I obviously had enough to do the foyer tree as well, which has never had a tinsel garland. It added enough bling to the tree, plus I have enough ornaments from out travels, that I was able to leave off the music ornaments (almost all from the dollar store from when this was my daycare tree so we made ornaments each day after school and augmented them with music ornaments and candy canes.) And I didn't have to put on the tin icicles which are tricky to put on and take off since I have to count them and put them back in their tubs after.) I sorted out a few special music ornaments and will put them on the family tree.

In fact, near as I can tell, I still have 90' of garland left over. Which I'll save because ds or dd might want it some day.

Home from work. I have a dispensation from on high to take off work from tomorrow afternoon at 5:30 to January 7 at 8:30 a.m. (Not that many "days off" when one considers that we are closed three of the days I would work on M & Tuesdays withing that period.) Except that the client I am working with on yr-end planning sent me a trial balance that is outlandishly incorrect. Two weeks ago she said their income was $40,000. This trial balance indicates that income is over $700,000. So I will have to deal with that whenever she gets her act together. Got the other project back to partner this afternoon so hopefully it is put to bed.

Have ordered pizza for me and dkids - it's dh's bowling night.
