Good day, I see morning is past! Just felt like staying under the covers today. Have a headache, will have to take something if coffee doesn't soon help.

Dee, I remember that you were going to see the same show. We will do that trip more leisurely next time.

Twins--Hope you get to the movie on time!

Helia--My son wouldn't wear brand names on his clothing either, like your dd17. Said he wasn't giving free advertising!

Lilac--glad your dgd16's surgery went well. Had to laugh that newspaper left out hidden elf!

scattered--I wasn't worried about the Mayan calendar...after all their world ended a long time ago.

blessed--My DS and DDIL live in Madison. As of a few weeks ago, they didn't have snow shovels. Hope they took my advice and bought one for each car! If not, live and learn!

Kathryn--Yay for a surprise package!

Nancy--I am following your chicken updates with great interest!

Okay--I will have to look up shaksouka to see what that is.

Booksaver--I plan to dress warm tonight too for Christmas party. Thought of you and lilac when I saw how bad Iowa was hit.

Being in the holiday/vacation mode is enabling me to do things that I love to do, but rarely give up the time to do them. I've spent most of the morning in the kitchen - making this and that. I took several packages of garden tomatoes out of the freezer and boiled them down, then put through the blender. I have never found a commercial tomato product that taste like home grown. It is impossible for me to describe in words however the taste buds know. I am also experimenting with making challah. I'm looking forward to attempting the braiding process in a couple hours.

I, too, am so happy to see Kally. How is your mother doing, Kally? I'm sure you will make her holiday special. Hope you can post with us often. There is info on the net about getting one's circadian rhythm reset. Dr. James Johnson is researching it now and another book is expected from him soon, including some of that info. Using no-blue-spectrum lighting or low-blue glasses in the evenings for 2 hours before bedtime and not having any blue spectrum lighting through the night is part of it. Special lightbulbs and glasses are available now, too. In general, spend the last 2 hours of every day away from all tv, computer or anything but soft dim lights, preferably yellow tinted like buglights or even red tinted. It's supposed to really help get back to your desired schedule.

ellyphant, you are a wonderful part of our village, I appreciate you lots, and am sorry to see I have missed an opportunity to say so. I missed that you had a birthday but in catching up on posts see everyone else's fun greetings and hope your day was great. Anyway, very very belated (((((hugs))))) to you. Hope the headache is gone soon.

Kathryn, that's nice your gift turns out to be something you haven't seen and can use.

Yesterday the wife of an old friend of HRH's dropped by with their holiday baked goodies for him and one question for him was what answer should she give to friends who were putting together a song list/music list if yesterday was indeed the last before some terrible world-shattering event. HRH said, "Tell them, "The sun'll come up Tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar that Tomorrow there'll be sun." And she quickly typed that into her phone to her friends, very happy to have an answer to share.

I went to get my hair trimmed this morning, trying to beat the rush that I know will be on the way. I need to get back by the store as I don't have enough eggs for deviled eggs for tomorrow's party and I'll probably want to make them early in the morning. Believe it or not, still gift wrapping for tomorrow. We are just not hitting on all cylinders.

Well, LOL! I thought Dee meant the Final Friday before Cmas!! I wasn't even thinking about the end of the world. I guess I didn't take THAT threat very seriously. The "NOT" part wasn't entirely clear to me, but I thought maybe it was a reference to the fact that there will be more Fridays in life other than this last Friday before Cmas.

Done - not much but it did involve some driving and took some time.
x WW - up 0.1 lb, so basically the same.
x ds to dermo. He can start on acutane as soon as the labwork gets back to them.
x ds to lab for blood draw
x home again and lunch

Next:
-finish a.m. routine
-errands: library (pick up book on hold), specialty coffee place to see about coffee for dh's shoe tonight, mall, maybe the bank, maybe Walgreens/B and N. . .

Yes, dd got up too late to get to the movie. The challah is baked for tonight; I took some additional out of the freezer for us to snack on today.

I thought I had a great idea on the pantry; I assembled some of those wire cube things that I used to use with my crafty area, but only one height would fit under the existing shelves so that didn't help much. I took some stuff to the garage and established a pantry overflow area for now. With the kids home, we're loading the pantry up more than usual and I can't find anything in there...

we only got a touch of snow... I want more after Christmas of course and not on the days that dd's are flying.

ok - you have a little one at home and a full schedule!!!! my d kids are 17 and 23 so my life is so different. my youngest niece is young but not little little and oldest is 31, dh's family is very good (most ) about ideas by thanksgiving as that is the day we pick names. for d bro and his wife and my d mom and d mil we just pick things out as we do with everyone else... more things that they seem to like. I tell the family I have a rule that I am not shopping 2 weeks before Christmas... I know I am being a scrooge but I can't handle woodfield at this time of the year. you have to get valet parking to get parking and I am getting cheap.

time to fold laundry and put it away
d dogs beds are washed but needs to be dried.

tried to get dh to start taking off his shoes coming into the house, even wear those cover things in the wet muddy outside and take those off. no go. the clean floor is no longer clean grumble grumble

Good Morning, Villagers!

DH called a neighbor and when the neighbor returns from the dr. appt., he'll call DH and then DH will take their gift up. DH called our other neighbor, but they're busy until Sat. in the afternoon, so we'll deliver gifts then and I called my dear elderly, 96/97 widow friend, to set up a time to deliver to her tomorrow, too. She's a shut-in now, has caretakers, and has wet-form macular degeneration very, very bad. She's the warmest, sweetest, most kind and compassionate person you could ever meet. Have know her since 1975. Our joke is that I always think of her as being 60 and she thinks of me being 30. Now, I'M 60 and she's in her 90's. But it's fun for a laugh and I referred to it in her Christmas card, too. I found her hot pad in my bra basket (too many to fit ALL of them in the drawer), in our walk-in closet. I'm so happy because her caretakers and kids cook there, so the hot pad will be used.

I'm not feeling well today. Gastritis. I think I'll sign out and go shower and dress or take it easy. Have taken medicine for it, but am still having a time with it.

I wanted to sign in, to say hello to everyone and I hope that those of you who have snow are staying safe and are staying warm.
