Re: Tuesday Triumphs
Dee, is there a 3rd computer in the home, for instance DD's, that does let you chat with us? No problem with any except the new one? That would be one clue.
Do you have other sites you regularly visit and log into, and does this new computer let you log into them?

Re: Tuesday Triumphs
Afternoon y'all..
I am taking a break and then I need to find the bottom of my desk. I leave for my rafting/camping trip down the Grand Canyon Colorado River tomorrow and have spent the past few days getting ready for that.
House is done, taxes are done, laundry is done and I am packed and ready to leave in the morning. I'm only allowed to bring what will fit into a 30 gallon garbage bag and that includes my tent and sleeping bag. I'll be gone for 5 days...3 of them on the river.
Waving to y'all....last dryer load is waiting for me. See ya on the other side of Sunday......

Re: Tuesday Triumphs
OOhhh Cowinkie! That trip sounds like SO much fun! I'm trying not to be too envious. Dh and I had looked into that for a vacation one summer, but it was quite expensive for all 5 of us plus flights plus. . .plus. . . .. Maybe there is a cheaper tour company than the one we found, though. Definitely on my bucket list!! Can't wait to hear about it when you return -- please do share. Did you ever do that hike up the Mt.? How was that? Or is that still coming?
TaDas!
x tax info in the mail to arrive tomorrow
x menu plan and groc. list made
x groceries bought and put away
/a.m. routine done - except for making my bed
I think I'm going to skip exercising this afternoon. My tummy is feeling off; I wonder if it is the curry veggie burger I ate for lunch? Hmmm...... I'm eating some soup now for a snack. I'll leave with dd14 in about 35 minutes.
Dd17 received a card from NC State today, which made me think of you, Harriet.
Thinking back to conversations here re: customer service, I happened to receive some great service today. My checker at the groc. store saw I was buying a 3 pack of Kle**ex and asked if I wanted the 3 pack of P**fs instead that were on sale and half the price. I said, "I didn't know the P**fs were on sale. Sure!" She then ran to the sale shelf and got me a pack. I am well known at this store; I go about 2x/week. It is also locally owned, not a national chain.
Next:
-finish soup
-make bed
-tidy up kitchen a little
-prep potatoes for the oven and stick them in. I won't be home again until 6:30.
I hope dh will call during dd14's lesson; I had suggested that to him.

Re: Tuesday Triumphs
I have been at my desk / computer about 7 hours today. All time sensitive stuff is done. Had a rough time with computer IRS forms. Last year they were fillable and I could print out and send them in. Not this year that I could find. So that slowed things down. Bills are paid, except I haven't looked into the mailbox and I saw the truck earlier.
Oh well, at least this much is done.
I'm really sleepy, I think I'll go stretch out for a bit.

Re: Tuesday Triumphs
Busy day.
Dh went to the Peruvian consulate today which meant we had to go into town earlier. I hung out at the main library and got most of the sales chits entered into Quicken.
Next we had lunch, then hair appointments, then Chinese grocery store.
Next stop was an open house demonstrating 3D printing. It was interesting to see in real life the results from the printers. There were items with working ball-bearings in them that had been 'printed' but the most amazing to me were chess pieces. The rooks were like little turrets with windows and doors so you could see inside where there was a tiny, winding staircase. All this was only 3" high and 3/4" diameter.
The process is slow since it takes hours to lay down each microscopic layer of the plastic or whatever 'ink' is being used. A batch of 3D printed dimes would take about an hour to do because they aren't high, but higher items tend to be printed in overnight runs. For things like ball bearings built into a case, they put layers of wax where air will be in the finished product, then melt the wax and vibrate it off, which leaves a sticky residue which is cleaned off with a cooking oil bath, which leaves a greasy residue so the item is then put it in a dishwasher to get the oil off.
Dh and I have no use for this technology in our work, we were just interested and got a random invite because I've bought toner from this company in the past.
After that we ended up at wallyworld. It was too early for dinner but we ate there anywhere before picking up groceries and coming home. We'll have a bedtime snack if we are still hungry later. Mine should involve veggies since I haven't had any all day.

Re: Tuesday Triumphs
Yes Harriet, I can "chat" on this site on my netbook. It's just not working very well -hence the new computer. But if we can't figure out how to work it, it's a mute point I guess. I'll give it a few days. DD downloaded Google C hrome to see if I could login in that way. Doesn't even give me the page. Says it's unavailable. Or Page Can't be Displayed. Giving up on it for tonight. A 13 year old offered to come home with dd to 'fix' it.
I'm really not in a good frame of mind to figure it out either. Feel brain dead. Wanting to be here and at home so I can find things for dh. Thought I left things in really good shape for him -evidently not.
Can't believe gd's hallway -it was vacuumed yesterday and today you couldn't walk down it to save yourself. She has everything all over it -why in the hall ask I? 13 days and some hours.

Re: Tuesday Triumphs
Dee I was going to suggest a different browser but you've now tried that with no luck. I have no experience with Windows 8 except listening to people complain about it. My bosom buddy bought a new computer and it came with Win8. This was months ago and it still isn't working correctly for her despite constantly taking it back to Staples for help.
Do you want to try setting up a new account here and see if that works better? We can't merge your old posts into it, but it might at least allow you post using the new computer.

Re: Tuesday Triumphs
Dee, yes definitely give it a few days. I hate to say it, but call support. (I know, yuck.) So you are getting on to other sites fine? Logging in there? It's just our site? If you don't usually log in on other sites, is there one of DD's (or dsonil's) that she could check on the new computer, to see if she is able to log in as usual or if she has trouble? Being able to explain to support whether it is multiple sites or not would narrow the problem down. We have 5 or 6 varying computers/kindle here and they all take me to this site, finding me as a member here, allowing me to log on. I was able to do it several hundred miles away while traveling, able to do it at the library - two libraries, come to think of it, without having a clue what their operating systems were. I just can't imagine what's going on. They couldn't sell Win8 at all if this were an insurmountable problem. Gamers alone would cause riots in the streets to lose all their built-up progress.
This made me think to say that to HRH, and he says nothing's hopeless, there's always a fix. He says he can think of some people he can ask tomorrow. He wonders if it could be a plug-in you haven't downloaded yet. (I don't have a clue what he means, I'm just reporting, lol.)
I am overwhelmed tonight. I'm so worried about dear uncle and about dear aunt both. I need to get back over to that hospital in the a.m. Procedure at 12:30 but I have told everyone "early afternoon" so that I will have time to center myself if the news is not good. Was able to get to see doctor, and he says there is no result that will be a failure, only results that will be good judgement at the time. Trying to hold onto that, but we really have a house of cards until uncle gets back home.
My only TaDa is exercise. I thought if I didn't take care of myself, I would not be up to it all.

Re: Tuesday Triumphs
I'm very happy to say we got the hen pen fence up to keep them off the main part of the yard so the grand kids & us can use it. When we start working on the B.B.Q. area to finish that update the temp. fence will be down so this is great! The hens acted like it was a new play ground to use.
The light went out in the coop so I changed that bulb so glad I noticed that before it was dark and cold out! Pullets are looking good. I brought the cage under that carport I got for chicks at a yd. sale last summer this will work great for the 4 youngest I hope any way. We shall see.
Tomorrow dgson will be here. Today I said bring snacks they had them in the car but did not make it in to the house with them so dd made sure and brought them in when she picked her kids up. So I'd have 'em tomorrow.
I forgot to mention that the first breeze blew the fence over and we had a do-over moment in the afternoon, but that's what you get when your working with ten year olds. LOL! I just hope they remember the time they put up a chicken fence on spring break at grandma's!
H. failed to de-clutter aka cull one chicken that's obese I call fatty and she was still here he said he would do it on trash day
oh well there is always next week!

Re: Tuesday Triumphs
Harriet, so wise to remember to take of yourself. So many family responsibilities, i don't know how you are hanging in there. Is your d dad coping w your absences?
This has been one of those days here. Temple issues too long to go into, a not too productive day at work, a lot of frustration w tax partner who believes that her work should be at the front of the line and is constantly "checking in" as to what is needed to finish return.
Got home approx 9:20, dh still out at a friend's house. I walked dogs right away because I knew they needed some exercise. Found a message on the machine from one of the older temple ladies that I suspect is stirring up troubles, sorry too late to call back tonight. Something to look forward to tomorrow.
I am having a glass of wine and then it is bedtime.
Lilac, if you look in, the IRS directions indicate you should wait for your refund before filing the amended return. Altho K in C's reasoning is good, the IRS matching program for interest might take awhile, and I don't know that they are set up to find over reporting - their emphasis is under reporting.
