Re: Living Well on Wednesday
Just got back from appointment with new Dr. WOW - haven't had this good a physical since whenever!!! EKG, blood work, actually had me take off my clothes and touched me.
I feel much encouraged that I"m not just a body pushed thru to get medicare to pay. She will refer me to a "good" dermatologist (her words) and the eye Dr. that she and her husband go to.
Bad news - I have to have a mamo. Been ducking that for years. But will do it now. She is also going to check my thyroid which hasn't been checked in years.
Now to make some lunch.

Oops! Got the daunt and duncle mixed up. I hope all is well with duncle, Harriet.
WTG on taking care of yourself and the Dr. appt. MT!
I'm in a bad mood; this week has been hard on my introverted side - and there's more social time coming. Dfriend S and friend A left around 11 a.m today. Dd17's friend's mother, one of my friends too -- our skiing friends, actually -- showed up around 11 a.m. and stayed and chatted until around 11:40. I do enjoy chatting with her! But the accumulation of social activities is getting to me. Girls wanted to go clothes shopping and dd17 wanted her ears pierced (2nd time - in lobe, not cartilage) this afternoon, SO I went to the mall with them. After dd17's ear piercing, the girls drove themselves to the Salvation Army b/c they can get more for their $$ and they now have to buy their own clothes. (We give them a healthy monthly stipend.) The SA makes me feel tired, so I just came home.
I just found out that dd14 has invited a friend over tomorrow afternoon (the friend whose house I drover her to and from on Monday), another friend to sleepover tomorrow night, and then a 3rd friend over Friday afternoon.
We have our Thursday dinner crew over tomorrow night and then a possible guinea pig play date Friday with friends from church. Dh will return tomorrow and want to spend a lot of time with me. He will be an extrovert low on social interactions while I will be an introvert drowning in social interactions. Help! I am feeling claustrophobic!! Dd14 has since un-invited the friend to sleepover, saying they can do it another week, that is one little help.
I'm going to take myself outside for a walk/jog - it doesn't matter much, just to get out and be by myself in the sunshine.

Re: Living Well on Wednesday
Hmmmm. Have managed to avoid working since getting home at noon.
I'll join Helia in a bad mood!
Did book dh's ticket to Lima. I hate spending money. Even more so when it is a bad deal. Dh would not commit to dates so the only sale that was came and went without him jumping at it. We are 8 weeks away now so I don't want to put off the buying the ticket any longer. Dh is going direct on Air Canada instead of saving $1000 and going on other airlines.
Air Canada has the best seats but on the way back he's in the plane from 8:45 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. and all he gets to eat in business class is breakfast. I can't believe on a day long flight they wouldn't serve lunch. On the way there it is an overnight flight and they'll serve a snack and breakfast so why only one meal on the way home when everyone is awake and not sleeping? And the last leg of the trip home they are charging the full business class fare but there is no seat left in business class so he has to sit in economy. Or wait another 3 hours and come home on a plane that has a seat in business. I'm just pissed that they know he'll accept less than what he paid for in order to avoid the long wait in Toronto.
I'm also annoyed at dd because she is so quick to take offense at people. Which is raising my blood pressure since she is annoyed people wished her a Happy Easter or that some old guy complimented a friend in a creepy way. In other words, she'd rather people not say anything rather than risk offending her because even if they didn't mean to offend their innocent intent doesn't offset her offense.
To me that is a heck of way to live life. She seems to assume the worst of everyone. She's annoyed with us right now because we told her she could be anything she wanted in life and that if she worked hard she'd get results. Now she's learning that 'life' doesn't always work out the way she planned and is offended by that notion. She has no faith and so is now adrift. So blames us. We can't help it if she refused to buy into the faith part of our philosophy, choosing only to accept half our teachings.
Yay for ds who had to struggle through the early part of life and so understands 1) life isn't always fair and 2) then you die; what you do with those two facts is what matters. He's kind to others and doesn't spend a lot of time looking for offense.

Re: Living Well on Wednesday
Hello! Well, in the bad mood department, DH forgot to take his happy pill this week. I have been trying to avoid him for days. Talking with my church girlfriend just a few minutes ago, she is having the same problem. I told her we need to put them both into a boat and push it out to sea.
DH has decided he'd let the guy who messed up our water pump do it again, but this time he wants to look at it all taken apart... and I said good, but how do you know how he'll put it together again? I don't think this is a good idea, but I'm not doing the work. I'm thinking he's just afraid he'll not be able to do the work with his shoulders and hip... so one way or another we'll get it done, just going to hope it lasts.
I helped with another mailing at church this morning and this one was a couple hours' longer than usual. The envelopes weren't stamped yet (somebody does this for us ahead of time, the stamp permit and the return address stamp) so we tried to do that. But the stamps were too light and the secretary tried to reink them and they got all splotchey and blurry so she had to print labels...which took a bunch more time to attach...then we ran out of self-addressed envelopes and we had to get out the ole sponge bottle to seal... but they are on their way now.
I did all the errands I could think so I'd not need the car for a while with the repair looming. Paid the mortgage, made 2 deposits, dropped book in library pickup bin, picked up my Rx. Came home and another check had come in and I took that down.
So I'm homebound for a while I guess. I should try to do something around here!

Re: Living Well on Wednesday
hi all, hope to say hi individually soon.
turns out dd younger has a concussion after being hit by the board (during paddle boarding). explains the headaches
so today: hair dye appointment (instead of me doing it this time)
made meat sauce which is cooking now and dishes are washing themselves...
wishing you a great afternoon

Re: Living Well on Wednesday
Hi everyone! It is 4:10 where I am and I am still working on my document at payroll. Last night, DD11 and I went to Build a Bear and found a trampoline jump at the mall, so she did that too. Then, we went to get cat litter and she looked at potential pets (reptiles, birds, and hamsters). I told her they would not work because of the cats at my house and the dog at XDH's. The dog snags birds right out of the air for his snacks. We looked for yarn for the vest DD wants me to make her. However, she has changed to wanting red, white, and blue, and it is a two color pattern. We looked for variegated yarn in those colors, but did not find it. This means I have more time to work on my jacket before I have to put it aside (DD grows faster than me). I did get half the stuff freezer wrapped and swept the entry.
Today, I ate lunch with a friend and during that XDH called with the preliminary results of DD's school testing. They said she has some characteristics of autism/aspergers. I have always suspected something neurologically not right, but I wanted to be proven WRONG. My mother has also suspected something not right. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised, she does have a tendency to slap herself sometimes when she is frustrated. So not good.
Okay: I think I know why more people are using their credit cards! They had to pay their taxes and don't have cash left!

Re: Living Well on Wednesday
Ivy That is exciting news!
I've been dealing with my in-box. Got it down to 300 messages. Will work on more in another week but I've spent a week at the 350 range so I seem to be getting better at maintaining the in-box once it is cleared up. I've only deleted about 1/2 of the messages, the rest are being filed. Eventually, I need to clean that up the archives but babysteps for now.
Oh, and I've got our first stop on our road-trip confirmed. Yay! I took money out of the bank for it yesterday. I'll need more but I felt I needed to have some on hand now because I spent all that I did have Monday on breakfast. We were literally stacking the change in $1 piles so we would know what we could order because the diner only took cash.
It's tomorrow in Australia and dh is busy fanning the flames on a lead to go to Brisbane in October or maybe Melbourne in May 2014 or maybe both.
