Hello, villagers ~
I've not been sleeping well, which greatly affects productivity. I'm attributing it to change of seasons, as we are having a long spell of dark, rainy, stormy days.

Cannot complain about the rain too much, though, since we are also in continuing drought. Still it's a struggle to try to get anything done in the house.

However ... could be worse -- at least I've not been thrown out of a raft into the rapids x2! Yikes, Cowinkie!!

In the past couple of days between thunder/lightning storms, I have cleared a few hundred Emails out of the inbox. Registered for a series of sewing classes in August. Have done some research into teardrop camper trailers and a lot of daydreaming about summer.

Today I have managed to thoroughly scrub the pile of dishes, stove, microwave, and counters. Also put baking soda and vinegar down the drain.

I'm taking a short break before going to the post office. When I get back, there's a stack of mail to wade through while I cook supper.

Kathryn ~ How long is your thrift store too-small skirt? If it's long enough, there are a few relatively simple ways to cut off and replace the waistband that would give more room in the waist and hips. I would not have been able to resist a blue pinstripe suit for $10 either. Glad you had good luck finding new tops and capris, too.

Booksaver The skirt is uncharacteristically short for me, just at the knee. So that won't work. I can put it on but it is too tight. If I can lose 10 lbs it might be close to perfect. Twenty might make it too big. When I lost my weight back in 1999, I only lost 25 lbs but went from a size 14 or 16 to a size 10 (and one 8). So I figure 10 lbs equals one pant size for me because I carry all of my weight on the bottom.

My webinar was overwhelming. Turns out these interviews are being done over the internet. I thought I had to meet with 10 congregations in person which wouldn't be too hard around here since I have 8 within a 20 minute drive. I can do that with churches in this area (if I pay my own gas) but I could be doing churches 2000 - 4000 miles away. I need to learn how to use the software, type, facilitate the meeting and watch body language, all at the same time. My tummy is in knots. Oh, and each meeting will take almost 3 hours.

Ds called to chat for a little bit.

Dh asked for Chinese tonight because of the storm warning for tomorrow. Not that he isn't out tomorrow, he has two appointments.

After dinner, I'm going to focus on taxes.

After a break, I was ready to get going again.
** Picked up LO from school
** walked through a house for sale that had good location but I didn't care for the floor plan.
** made a large pot of beef & vegetable soup
** mentored LO while he put ingredients together for fruit cake
** gathered papers and minimal information CPA requested. DH is dropping information at CPA house on the way to church. CPA has called me twice with questions. How do I know how much we should pay in estimated taxes this month until our tax paperwork is completed??? He needed an answer so I picked a number out of the sky and gave it to him. They should call them GUESSamated taxes.

I gave DD a 4 hour window that would be good time to call LO. 3 hours and 15 minutes of it has passed with no phone call. Waiting.....

I only had 4 loads of laundry. All done and mostly put away.

Hi Everyone! Well the day is almost over.

Not much new at my house, as usual. I always feel that everyone is way ahead of me with all the busyness of your day! Dh bagged all the piles of leaves I raked yesterday as well as the piles he had raked earlier this month. I went out a couple of times to keep him company and did some weeding. The back yard is looking much better. I also cornered both ddogs while we were outside and brushed them well. They've started shedding again --- well they shed all the time, just more now at this time!

I also spent some time at my desk this afternoon as today was payday. I cleaned my desk off, threw away some junk mail, filed some other papers and balanced the checkbook. Tomorrow I will pay most of the bills for the month. I also have two notes to write and mail (snail mail) and an email long overdue to a dfriend. There are no urgent errands or dr. appts this week.

I've been keeping an eye on the weather channel off and on today. With the dfamily dh and I have scattered along the eastern u.s. and our dVillagers here general locations known I'm hoping everyone is safe!

Harriet, it would be nice if things could work out for you to go to the Highlander Games. Yes, those massed bands are wonderful; I could listen to that music all day! I've only heard the Irish pipes a couple of times, but I think they sound different than Scottish pipes. Harmony, I think you would enjoy seeing one of those shows. Ddil told us on Sat. that dgd11 will join the band in Middle School next year and is planning on learning the bagpipe. So we will have a lot more opportunity throughout her school years to enjoy this.

The first thing I thought of when I saw the title for today's thread was Lawrence Welk also. We watched his program every Sunday evening when he was on long ago. And now once in a while we watch the program that shows the reruns.

Yes, OKay, I well understand that "pick a number out of the sky" method. There's also the WAG - wild a&& guess methodology. Still haven't done our own extension.

I'm down to three returns, one of which is done, but need to look at again together with director about an issue, another is an extension but I haven't got all the info entered yet, and the last the partner thinks we should be able to get done, but spouse is leaving town on Friday and apparently isn't speaking the same language that I am when I ask for additional info.

Also I'm really tired of this director who thinks her returns go to the front of the line. I told her this morning that I needed to do some work for other people and couldn't handle interruptions. Cheeky, huh?

I am heading to bed soon.

Blessed: I never got to the taxes AND forgot to put on the laundry. Sigh.....

Off to bed now. Will take melatonin again to work on getting another good night's sleep. I'm also going to stop all the clocks and see if that makes a difference (the fitbit shows I often wake up on the hour and we have 4 striking clocks.)

Kathryn, I ordered myself a Fitbit. I've been sleeping poorly, not uncommon the last week of tax season. Last night I couldn't find my mouth guard. Night before last, Macs was throwing up all night. The mouthguard for sleep apnea that the dentist was doing took forever to come in, by that time I wasn't going to endanger what sleep I do get with trying to get used to it. Told them I'd pick it up next week.

I'm sorry to be so self centered these days. I am just whipped.

H. is trying to focus on rounding up the tax stuff he's been in a less than stellar mood put some things off too long like getting a print out of his Rx stuff. I got mine like back in Jan. luckily we did not loose it. Lesson learned I hope.

I actually got quite a bit done outside today on the yard work shape up, with out kids here to interrupt me. I did a bit at a time as my foot was sore but did get some things done. Yea!

I moved a couple of tulip bulbs that were the wrong color into another spot, some onions, and lemon verbena as well. I have an area I've been working on cleaning up is looking quite a bit better now yea.

Dgson & I had a nice time after school. BabyN.'s mom called and she will be here early again tomorrow but not on Fri. so that is good to know.

I was able to get some reading done that was great! Reading The winter Vault by Anne Michaels it's great b/c I've not had time to read for a while.

Laundry is current! Yippie!!!
