I've been steadily working on the basics. I've been rotating among the D's determined to stay focused on them until they were back in good shape. All the weekend holiday activity plus tornado cleanup put the basics into crisis mode. It doesn't take long to get everything back logged, but it sure seems to take a while to get them caught back up.
I can hear a storm siren going off.....or maybe it is a train whistle? Both are over 2 miles away so it is hard to tell difference with the wind is blowing. I just checked the radar and it's fine in my area. Other places are getting creamed though. The siren/whistle has stopped so I can go back to my focus on Desk.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY HARMONY AND MR. HARMONY!!
That's funny about dh missing your card.
Sadie, kudos and ((HUGS)) to you for caring for your dbrother. I'll pray that things fall into place for the dental work he needs done.
Did my above list - except I haven't finished the a.m. routine. Dd17 has left for appt. at 4. Dd15 just now arrived home. Dd15's dfriend's mom and I switched carpool; I am now driving the girls to the session and the other mom is driving the girls home. After dropping off the girls, I am dropping off the band uniform notebook at my co-uniform worker's home so she can make tags for reserved marching uniforms for the fall. During finals week, we're going to go in and put tags on all the marching uniform pieces + pull together and tag (label) reserved items for those kids who requested the same uniform for next year. --Just realized, I need to double check kids missing concert uniform items before I send off the notebook. The band director wants a list. I'll do that now; dd15 says she has the notebook.

Re: Close at Heart Thursday
Helia - I enjoyed your "I did" report yesterday. It inspired me to do one today (I'm writing it in Onenote journal)
Just checked FB to find out we have a storm headed toward us. Man, they pop up outta nowhere and get serious fast!
Yesterday's storm knocked out our local TV station and weather radar.....so no information was available from them
We lost electricity so access to ISP wasn't available.
There was a 30 minute period during the worst of it that I couldn't get phone service (0 bars)
It's during times like that when I prefer to be outdoors so I can see them coming.
Having a underground storm shelter a few feet away gives me confidence and comfort.

Re: Close at Heart Thursday
Okay. Enough.
I've had my fill of tornadoes for awhile.
DH came into the house and yelled "GET IN THE CELLAR NOW!!!!!!!!"
DH never ever gets excited about weather so I knew it was serious.
I grabbed LO's hand and we took off running for the cellar (sheltering him from the hail as best as I could)
We could hear the tornado over the top of us but thankfully it didn't touch down.
Always happy to emerge from cellar and see the house standing.
It did manage to tear off some house shingles. Also the trampoline (which was tied down with multiple 4' deep stakes) is now two pastures away. The stakes were pulled out of the ground, the 200 lb trampoline wadded up like a used Kleenex and relocated against some trees.
I am thinking about moving to a place where weather events have some warning. Hummmm...where would that be?
Excitement over for the day (hopefully)
Back to focusing on Desk

Re: Close at Heart Thursday
I did a quick CUOP and need to get myself busy here somehow.
I allowed dd to drive my car to go get a camp physical and to do camp shopping/errands and see a friend. (DH is put out with me, but I'm not going back out to drive her around after being on the run all day today. I left the house at 8 a.m., came back through at 12:30 to get dd, after hair appt we got groceries and picked up dry cleaning so past 3:30 when we finally got home...)
Tomorrow I need to run a round of errands and need to be at the temple at 10:30 to meet a friend who wants to donate some silver to the temple. Wish someone else would handle this but I said I'd come because she's a friend. Should give a heads up to temple secretary to help make it short.
We are going to temple tomorrow night also and I need to make a challah at some point also.
I'm thawing chicken to go with pasta for dinner tonight.
-organize the recipe ingredients
-clear kitchen table
-get those poor geraniums into pots
-start with the li&t for errands tomorrow
Oh my goodness, OKay, so glad that you are all okay!

Re: Close at Heart Thursday
We figure today was a "God delay". We're both very tired. Dh had the procedure today done through his right wrist (first time). Much easier recovery in the hospital than through the groin. Had all his pre op stuff done -xray, blood work, ekg & pulmonary. Have to be at the hospital at 5:30am on Tuesday -oh it's going to be a long day! DS-R just has to tell them at work what day he'll be taking off. Not so sure yet about DDIL. Told them all not to feel they have to be there. But I know it's major surgery and they will want to be.
Got home late today, so have done nothing here. I have to get church council minutes done this weekend and sent to church. Not so sure I'll be able to be there the 10th. Dh will be in the hospital until just before that and unless someone will come stay with him I won't leave him that soon.
So glad you're ok, Okay. Sure wish this weather would calm down for everyone! It's hot here and we were under a watch yesterday for a while. Have our AC on -it was 95 in here when we got home today.
See you on the front side of tomorrow................

Re: Close at Heart Thursday
OKay, I am so glad you guys are alright. Saturday is the start of hurricane season. We get some notice for our bad weather, but you don't want to move here. A lot of the damage from our big hurricane was from the tornadoes that came from inside the hurricane. And at least you have sirens there. I don't know why, but we don't have any in this state that I know of.
DD2 is here for a few hours' sleep before she gets on the road again. I will get up with her and see her off with coffee cup and banana in hand. I ran to the store just now to get some bananas since she asked if I had any, also some coffee creamer and granola bars. I worry about her, she doesn't eat or sleep enough but she does more than her share of work.
We weren't able to work this evening because the place she needed to get into was already occupied. I'm sorry I wasn't able to help her.
Sadie, I hope things work out for your dbrother and he's able to get his teeth work done.
Cowinkie, I hope you feel better tomorrow, tonight even.

Happy Anniversary to Harmony and Dh!
Just wanted to say hi to everyone and say that I have good wishes for everyone facing medical tests and procedures.....Dee's Dh, MT and Dh, Harmony, Sadie's DBro. Also thinking of those who are not feeling well, etc.
I have cuop quickly today. Was happy for Mr. MT and Mr. Dee's good reports. Was happy also that OKay and dfam are safe from bad weather. That sure is scary! I know there are others who may be in storms paths -- stay safe!
Happy thoughts sent for Harriet's dd for year finals, as well as Helia's dds and others who have children or grkids finishing the school year!
Had a nice conversation with my dsis today. Also had a quick call from ds#2, he was just checking on us!
