Nurse is here -had to go let her in. I have never, ever seen the water the way it is coming in here. Had to drive through standing water for quite a ways. Hopefully the rain will ease up so it all starts going down. Dneighbor came and started the water pump so the water is going up and over the berm. Sure some of you have had more rain than us. Storm did come in a more northerly track so we got more of it than anticipated. We have had about 2" so far.

DD and gd were supposed to be leaving by now from FL. Dd had a dentist appointment, they were going home to get their black lab. DD will be glad (really) when gd is headed back to the ranch. Have to wonder how her week here will go at the end of the summer. Hopefully better than this week has been. DD felt bad that she feels this way but gd is pushing her buttons (big time).

Cut open a watermelon (I bought yesterday). So glad I cut it in the dishpan in the sink!!! It immediately drained all the liquid and pulp. What a mess that would have been on the counter if it had exploded (had that happen with 1 last summer & don't care to repeat it). Called the (big) grocery store and can get my $$ back by showing the receipt -especially since I called about it. He was so looking forward to that watermelon! Not going back out today however, to get another one.

Looks like a lot of this storm is now moving out to sea. Glad to see that happening -for a LOT of people.

Hi everyone! I am so glad to hear that Kathryn is getting the treatment she needs. Thank you to Lilac, Okay, Dee, Nancy, Harriet (cool graphic!), and Cowinkie for the birthday wishes.

For once, last night's animal org meeting was short. I have only 3 pages to transcribe, not >10. The kittens got their shots with no noticeable side effects. I packed the last lunch from the previous mass cooking, so I will be eating SOMETHING ELSE (yeah!).

My birthday plans are: doctors office, get special cat food, go home and pick up Destiny (kitten) and get her to her new home, return to payroll, leave early for dinner with friends, accompany same friends to amusement park, come home and maybe crochet and definitely charge cell phone.

Tomorrow after work I will be at a yarn bomb crew meeting making things to yarn bomb with. I already have a collection of patterns to use. I will use a gigantic hook and 4 strands of yarn so whatever I do will go quickly. DD11 comes back LATE tomorrow night.

I am NOT being very productive today. I spent the morning emailing with dsil, which was very enjoyable. We exchange chatty emails a few times a year. This is dh's eldest sister who lives in the UK.

SO glad Kathryn is getting her surgery now. thanks for keeping us in the loop, Ken. Prayers and thoughts going that direction.

Dgirls are home. Summer vacation has officially started here! --Maybe that is why I'm not being very productive. However, I need to fight that urge for there are many things I need to do.

Dgirls are anxiously checking powerschool for their last grades. Dd17 just needs one more grade to come in, dd15 two.

I'm off to finish the a.m .routine and go to the groc. store. I need something to feed dfriends tonight. Dkids have been expressing a desire for salmon, for some reason. If trout is cheaper, I'll get that instead. that will make for a quick and tasty meal.

Dd15 has a dentist appt. at 4. now, she is wanting to go to a synchro recruiting event at a local middle school. I think I'll have to driver her to that too. . .

Hello Dear Ladies,

Another HOT day here.

Thank you Ken-in-Canada for keeping us informed of Kathryn. Praying the surgery goes well.

Still caring for Dbrother. He has graduated from liquids to soft foods. Had oatmeal for breakfast and then some soup for lunch. Also giving him glucerna for more nutrition. He's not diabetic but has sugar issues that lead to some bad behavior so we try to have him avoid it as much as possible.

It is difficult to know if he is in pain yet. His face is swollen so I gave him ibuprofen. His temp is normal. He has prescription pain meds too, which I only gave him the first day. When asked how he is doing, he say not to good, asked if he is in pain and he says no, so I have to believe him. But he has gone through things in the past like a broken hip and didn't show signs of pain at all. Maybe his brain can't recognize the pain signals, I don't know, just doing the best I can.

The big talk around here was the next town's water supply was bad, was on all the news. Restaurants and hospital was closed so some of the people came into our town to eat at our restaurants, buy our water. Their problem created a boom for us.
Got to take a shower and head to work in a bit.

Uh Oh! I tried to get into the waiting room, but there was no room! I'm hanging outside the door though waiting for Ken to let us know when she is back.

Cowinkie, what's wrong with one of the most beautiful places in the world - Lake Tahoe!

Cowinkie, once when we were in Tallahassee with DD (college) we all drove over to St. George Island. It's "Old Florida" around there and the beach there is long and beautiful. The beaches on the Gulf Coast are much quieter than the ones on the East Coast and I think they're prettier too. Any of the ones around the bigger cities (Siesta Key in Sarasota, Fort Myers Beach are more commercial, in fact there's nowhere to park at Fort Myers Beach). You can drive on New Smyrna Beach (East Coast), but there's no shells there. Cocoa and Daytona are "party" beaches. The beach on Boca Grande Island is really nice and the town is the slower touristy kind, nice. Given what you said, I'd go to St. George.

Glad to read updates from Ken and Kathryn. Is your hospital an older one with such small rooms? Coming by to sit in the waiting room while you are in surgery.

Dee, I hope you are not in any danger of water getting inside your home.

It's been raining here. Kinda hard rain. Clearing a bit now.
