SHEM:
No truer words..."The time to relax is when you don't have time for it." ~Sydney Harris
I actually feel more relaxed just having house looking
halfway back to normal.
Dh is out for evening - has a meeting then dinner w friend because he thought I would be away.
Break, and then:
-reboot laundry
-straighten Master BR and bath
-swish/swipe downstairs baths
-refill meds for the week
-water outside plants

DD and I spent just about all day at the hospital with dh -in the emergency room. Finally came home just a while ago. I had to get something to eat -hadn't eaten since 7am and being diabetic I was beginning to wane. DD didn't want hospital food. Stopped at the big local burger 'joint' and had that for an early dinner. Dh called just about 30 minutes ago -he had JUST then been moved to the 7th floor. Glad to know he has a more comfortable sleeping?? arrangement.
Drs were in and did more thorough checking and questioning. The words they seem to be throwing around a lot is congestive heart failure. He had an episode about a week ago of erratic heart beats and ended up at the cardiologist's on Tuesday. By then (after one of his meds had been increased) it seemed to have quieted down. Fast forward to this week -Monday he was ok. Walked a good distance -oxygen, breathing, heart rate all good. Yesterday, Tuesday, he seemed to go downhill all day. By early evening he was extremely out of breath and his heart was racing. After waiting for Dr's office to call back, that call came about 1/2 hour later and he wanted dh to go to ER at the same hospital where he had the heart surgery 2 weeks ago. They almost immediately said he'd be admitted, which he was. Of course when we went back today he was still in ER.
They gave him a shot of Coumadin this morning in his tummy. They now want him off the Plavix he's taken for several years because of all his stents. They will instead give him Xeratol and his 81mg aspirin. Another med they had increased from 12.5mg 2x a day to 25mg 2x a day, they will increase again. They are monitoring all this to see how his body is doing. They also want to be sure he's no longer short of breath or has an erratic heart beat. Their hope is to avert the possibility of a stroke. That's their main concern now.
I really need to go to the laundry room to do a load of 'lights'. Suppose there's no time like the present. So, I'm off>>>>>>>>>>

((( Dee ))) That's a lot to process. Remember, you can't support dh if you are in a diabetic coma so I want you to put your health higher up on the priority list. In fact, it should be your dd's responsibility to make sure you are eating properly. She doesn't have to eat, but you do and she can be charged with packing a selection of healthy foods to picnic with while you are attending to dh. Send her out tonight to pick up whatever you need (fresh fruit, crackers & cheese, etc.)

That's why I keep puttering around here. Every little thing I do feels like a victory.
Fortunately, I had the minister use the upstairs bathroom because I hadn't checked ds's. Checked it later. Without a doubt, it was the right thing to redirect the minister! Like Harriet's, it is off the main living room so it is logical to send guests there, but that is no longer an option!
Dh took me for a walk before he started cooking dinner. We dropped off our monetary donation for the neighbourhood street party on the 29th. Originally, we had sent regrets because we weren't going to be here. But since we will be around, I decided we should visit with people. This might be our last, or second to last, one. It isn't our street but, over the years, the party has spread to include anyone who has ties on the street. Dh's best friend used to live there, but now our main tie is our house-checker who lives there.

(((Dee and Mr. Dee)))
I was just going over in my mind how my week has been "sucked up" by temple, mother, the car, my sister but my issues wane in the face of our village illnesses. A mi shebearach for all of those needing healing is going in my head right now.
Trying to decide whether Moe needs to walk tonight, still limping but he is following me around waiting...
Another round:
-clean up and primp the right hand corner of the front porch (move bench, use vacuum to dust pillows, sweep cobwebs, clean lanterns and all
-consolidate OMM lists....I should have done this while I was sitting around waiting for the car today, but walked out without it all
-fold lol and put away
-read very long, temple related email which I need to respond to by the a.m. and draft response
-another temple email, follow up from Monday a.m. meeting
This should do me for the evening.

As a diabetic, I agree. When we make a trip to the Drs in Phoenix, I travel like I will be gone overnight. Banana, peanut butter crackers, several bottles of water, hard candies, and, of course, my K indle, counted cross stitch, phone and K indle chargers and all of our medical records. Sometimes the bag gets a bit heavy. But I have always been glad to have it with me.
Went to Wally World this afternoon and picked up some groceries and 3 pair of shorts. I don't like Capri pants as they hit at the fattest part of my leg. We also stopped and got some Subs for lunch and leftovers for dinner.
After that I took a nap on the bed under the AC. We will be here two nights and then will move on to Colorado Springs. I just called to find out if the fire was filling them up or if it was smoky. They said they haven't had any change - so we will head for there for 2 nights. We want to travel thru Denver on Sunday morning to avoid traffic.
We did hit Albuquerque at rush hour this morning but it wasn't too bad. DH only had to slam on his brakes once.
Mountains between Albuquerque and Las Vegas are beautiful. Also no big drop offs so you know I liked that.

MT, I love reading about your trip. We might as well have anchors attached to us here.
(Dee) yes, take care of YOU! I know, hard to do with all you have going on. I'm glad DH is getting good care.
Also glad Lynlee had some help yesterday. Wonderful when friends and neighbors pitch in to help. I hope your pain isn't too bad.
OKay, it struck me that I was very very stressed today overall after dentist appointment and I was trying to Google some stuff and couldn't remember words I needed. Perhaps your DMom's memory things is simply stress?
I lost a check this morning, I had written out a deposit slip and had it in my hand and poof it was gone. Big chase all over looking for it, found it back in the office and realized what I did, but I have not been able to remember anything today.
Dentist appointment was - well - as they usually go for me. Full of bad news and my fear and some pain. I feel like such a baby there. Had a filling fixed, it was "bleeding" away; also had a deep cleaning. That really hurt. I've been too long between visits. I did take a nice long nap as all the numbing went away and woke up feeling better.
Twins, you have been so busy lately. I hope Moe's foot is ok. Can you see anything on it?
Speaking of feet, I worked on my sore toe again this morning. I just cannot figure out why it's been so sore this long. It doesn't even look infected except it swells a bit and it's sore. I probed the edges, corners, and there's no stray pieces of nail where they shouldn't be. So, I'll keep medicating and soaking.
DSiL is dropping off DGSons tomorrow as he and DD discovered both would be out of town for a couple days. Fortunately they are both working on this coast so it was easy for us to babysit. I am off to grocery store to get stuff for their visit. I guess we'll celebrate DGSs 14th birthday a week early while he's here too. Gotta bake a cake!

Getting up the mojo here to get something done. My tummy has felt queasy off and on today, but is pretty settled right now after dinner. I ate rice, some peanut chicken (no extra sauce; the chicken pieces did have a bit of sauce on them), salad. I think I'll make some lemon ginger tea tonight.
I have a SHE predicament and wasn't sure what to do. Instead of fretting over it, I thought I'd ask you socially astute ladies for advice. So, to my embarrassment, I have not yet sent a sympathy card to the neighbors whose dh/father was killed in a car accident a month ago. He was killed precisely one month and one day ago; public memorial service was 4 weeks ago tomorrow. Should I just forget about sending a card? We can contribute to the memorial fund instead - or we could do both. We were wanting to contribute anyway, though it is already at a healthy level; the fund is to be used to support a med student every year since he was with the med school here. My main question is how appropriate is it to send a card a month after everything has quieted down? Life happened for me this last month - end of the year activities, new puppy care, cat shot with bb gun, travels, etc. etc. Not an excuse, just the reasons why I dropped this ball. Thanks in advance for any wisdom!! (We are not close friends with this family; we would run into them once in a while in the neighborhood or grocery store.)
As for today, lunch with dfriend ended up being a 3.25 hour affair, including driving time. Dh was aghast when I told him; he told me I need to be better about setting time limits. I probably do, but we were enjoying ourselves, she eats slowly, and I think she doesn't get time out with others very often. I don't know exactly what dfriend's mental illness diagnosis is, but she is generally very cheerful. I got home a little before 5, ate a snack of some rice crackers and applesauce - and my tummy felt really crummy after that. So, I tried to lie down and take a nap on the sofa with Maia next to me on the floor, but Maia would have none of that. After she stopped trying to jump on the sofa with me
, she was quiet and settled for about 10 minutes. I fell asleep. Then, she was ringing the bell to go outside. Then barking to come inside. Then ringing the bell to go outside. Then barking.. . .You get the picture. Pepper was outside and no help at all. SO, no rest for the wicked here.
The leftovers have been put away; dw is running with previous dishes. I never finished my a.m. routine today -- and I can sure tell. Off to tidy what I can of the kitchen. . .

I've finished baby duty and finally got the bed made. The chili was excellent! We had rain most of the day here so have been inside and the hens huddled under the deck for much of the day. H. bought a movie he wanted to see the last of the series with Tom Selleck in it so will watch that with him tonight.
I have one load of laundry left to do might do it tomorrow. I have dgd tomorrow too dgd#1 was going to watch dgd#3 but can't so I'll be doing that.

Afternoon y'all
Just peeking in for the moment. Harmony...I'm the same way about the dentist. I have very sensitive teeth...more so than most. I don't hesitate to tell whoever is working on my teeth about it. I had them write it on my chart in big letters. I was at the dentist today. He knows first hand just how much it hurts me just to have my teeth clean. He told me my old crown may have to be removed and be replaced by a new one. I reminded him how anxious I was the last time he did a crown for me...he didn't hurt but I still felt like I was being tortured. He promised to call in a prescription for something I can take before I come in for the procedure. He also said dental pain is REAL. I am not a woosh...but he is the first dentist I've come across that is willing to recognize that.
Dee...Sweetie and I were standing outside in the back of our year by our wall when Sweetie yelled "run to the house". I didn't hesitate and took off. Once on our covered patio I looked back and saw a huge, huge swarm of thousands of bees. I never saw them coming...neither did Sweetie, but he said he heard them. The desert always has swarming bees this time of the year, but there have been many more of them this year. The problem we have is many of the bees have been Africanized. The swarm hung around our tree and neighbor's back yard for more than 30 minutes before they took off.
Helia..In my book its never too late to send a card. Sometimes people are so overwhelmed with unexpected grief that they don't even realize or remember sympathy notes have been sent. I tend to send mine a little on the late side because of it. I would just write the note and send it.
OK y'all with chicken/egg experiences I need to ask a question or two or maybe even three.
My mama quail is still sitting on her nest. Its been almost 4 weeks since she laid her eggs. Everything I've read said the eggs usually takes 21 - 23 days to hatch. I told you that the grackles have been hanging around and that we've chased a few that were actually standing on the pot where the nest is. the nestis covered by my petunias...The mama leaves the nest in the early morning and again around 5 in the afternoon. Anyway several days ago I noticed a weird spot on my back door...didn't think anything of it. Then when I was coming inside I discovered a broken egg with a fully developed chick in it laying on the patio. It was dead. We thought that perhaps the grackle had stolen the egg, realized somehow it had a chick in it and slung it away and it hit the door. This morning I noticed Willis licking something on the ground near where the nest is. It was another egg, only it was like a raw egg...only the yoke and the white stuff. Now I'm puzzled. How can two eggs for the same nest be at such different stages of development??? Can the mama bird tell if something is wrong and remove the eggs herself??? The nest started off with 10 eggs and now its down to 8. I'm not upset about what has happened...I know its nature's way..I'm just trying to understand why.
Any ideas Nancy, Helia or Harriet...Norma???

Forgot to add...
Harmony... Sometimes I get sore toes or the area when my foot surgery was really bothers me. Here's what my Twinkle Toes ballirina neice taught me. Buy some A dvil gel pills...they have to be the liquid form and A dvil. Take a pin and poke the pill so the liquid can flow out. Pour it on your sore toe area and rub it in. I don't know why it works but it does. And I don't know why it has to be A dvil but it does. Twink says all the dancers, professional or otherwise, keep huge bottles of A dvil in their backpacks. She does pointe sometimes for 4-5 hours a day and she knows about sore toes
