I like the 'quilts' too, Elly. I watch for them all the time now. Sure the 'fad' will spread throughout the country.

Home from a long day on the road to see dsis w my dmom in tow. The day actually went very well, dsis is doing well and my mom was so happy to see dsis happy and satisfied. We took dsis out to a nearby peach packing house for peach ice cream. First time dsis has had a trip out of nursing home. And my mom wasn't exhausted from the day. She did well for an 86 y/o traveling so far by car. I'm pretty wiped out from the driving. I think I left home around 8:45 and was home around 8:30 pm.
Harriet and her family are in my thoughts tonight.

Twins, glad your day went well. That's great your Mom can travel at 86. My mother is 78 and would not be able to go anywhere all day like that.
Well, the red lamp was not to be. DH hated it, so I have repainted it black. Next time, I should just buy a new lamp!
I did have success painting the inside of my china cabinet. Have thought of doing that for a while and finally just did it!

A MH is NOT the place to be when the wind is blowing hard and the hail is coming down.
Next door neighbor let us know that the cover on the pickup bed was blowing - so we went out in the rain to fix it.
Looks like wind and hail have stopped but we have a hard rain now.
The Black Hills in June and July have really spooky weather.

I've booked a hotel for Friday/Saturday. Nice hotel but on the highway. Exactly 1/2 way between here and my dmil's old house. My dsisil who is hosting the party is another 30 minutes down the road. Party is in the afternoon. Hotel reservation is only on hold until 6 p.m. tomorrow so I have to remember to phone and add a credit card if we do decide to go.
I'm not sure if we'll go. My drug level was a lot lower today and the 'backdoor' finally opened so I don't have to worry about blocked bowels. On the other hand, my dinner left my tummy very sore and it wasn't really all that much, 1/4 burger on bqq (so 2 oz of meat before cooking) half a bun, some salad and some baked cheetos. Plus a glass of milk. A fair bit of fat but it should not be overwhelming. I don't know if I felt it more because I've cut back so far on the narcotics.
In total, I'm barely eating enough each day. Lots of fruit and veggies (about 8 servings), but low on protein.
Got the kitchen tidied up and helped dh get the garbage out. Spent time folding liners for the compost bin and washing it out well (it had gone moldy on the inside from wet stuff being left in there too long.)
I've started a planning chart for the upcoming services.
I guess I should get ready for bed now. Dh appears to have gone up although I don't recall him telling me he was.

My thursday was busy. pdoc. walked into town.
I bought a new basin plug because the old one disappeared the day the plumber was here. Just remembered to get it out of my bag and tried it out. It fits/works/ I like it.

looked at little market day the town has. got some lunch, then to support group - a great meeting.
i g a with a group friend then home. I was tired.
dog walker didn't come - day 2 of that. I remembered late that her dm doesn't let her walk alone so maybe that is a problem. Her big bro is off to join the navy this week. So no doubt family things are on the agenda.
I need to ask if she would walk a little with me and dog. I do not feel like I could cope w dog on my own. I do not know how dogs bowels are going. Trying to get him on running lead often but he may be holding out for a walk.
I tried those "dog meds" too - I had vomiting with those, itchies and blockage w the endone. I gave up and went back to just paracetamol. digestive processing still not at old patterns. Maybe its the paracetamol effect. (just nodding to Kathryn. I'm back on epsom salts.)
today Friday
a long phone call to a friend.
breakfast on the veranda - hoped it would encourage the dog outdoors to "go" but not really.
I have enough laundry for a load so maybe that would be good to do. Windy. sun is cloud challenged. looked at forecast - showers get a mention today and for days ahead. I might just take my chances. They are more featured in the forecast than reality.
I'll try that now.
Take care Kathryn.
Great to here of a successful day Twins.
Take care all in contact with "hot metal and stuff".
Helia - Interesting hearing of educational differences and whats credited - or not.
I think I need more paracetamol. A few days I've just taken it at night. Maybe it is healing if it aches.
dd said dgd now 10 still has not gotten full strength back 18 months after breaking both bones of one forearm. thats even with 6 mths on 3x weekly swimming squad (she was not allowed to ride her bike or much else back then), and now circus x2 each week. She can't pick things up, or do cartwheels. like she used to do.
Did I mention call from care place? I will get assessed by occupational therapist for various sorts of helps inc PT. I'm interested to see how that turns out, Coping with help may be a challenge too.

I tried to post earlier today but the p/c was not letting me on line. A fire in the area may have had something to do with that and we have winds now and red flag fire warning is just getting over. But not before a couple fires got going one is out I think the other just started. I'm going to go out side and see if I can see 'em. But they are not close just in the area.
Walked with a neighbor tonight that was nice as it's cooler than it has been. We went up the road a bit more than usual to see one gals chickens that was fun. Found some ripe berries I only had one as they were not my favorite ones.
Changed what I was going to make for dinner decided I wanted something different.
Forgot about the monthly thing the businesses do one night each month on Thurs. called alive after five.

I just wanted to pop in and say hi to everyone.
I cuop a couple of times today to keep up with village doings and am sending good thoughts and ((hugs)) to all who need them.
We had a nice time yesterday at the Sponge Docks, shops and Aquarium. We got there in time to pet a live 2 ft alligator and saw the diver go in the tank and feed the sharks and other fish. They have two "petting" pools and dgkids got to feed the stingrays; the largest one was probably a foot across. They have very soft skin. We didn't take the excursion boat ride out to one of the keys this time. It was very hot and by the time we got home, we were all ready to relax.
Dfam#1 came to visit this afternoon so they could visit with dgkids before they go home. The two oldest dgdaughters had a nice time talking and trading dance moves learned in color guard and dgsons played on the Wii for a while then went outside and played with the two young boys who live across the street.
The kids all wear sandals or flip flops most of the time; that is what dgs9 was wearing today when they were outside playing and got a bee sting. He pulled the stinger out almost right away, but his foot started swelling and got red. I gave him an antihistamine capsule and put a cold cloth on it while ddil called the nurse. She told her to also give him an ibuprofen and make a paste of msg or baking soda. All I had was the baking soda, but within an hour swelling and redness was gone and pain almost gone.
OKay...I liked your opening quote from Ralph Marston.
Twins' Mom...It was good that your dmom was able to make the trip with you today.
MT...hope those storms have quieted down now!
I've been thinking of Harriet and family today.
