SHEM: I am actually doing pretty well here getting a few things crossed off my li&ts. Rehearsal dinner is "country club casual" at 7 p.m. and it's fine if I show up. I can probably pull together "country club casual." I'll s2s around 6 p.m.

-email re: changes in religious school bylaws
-email to trustees
-sift through email to find any needing answers, delete/archive enough to get down to 200
-go through July planner for any info needing to be transferred over, follow up, or archive

Hi everyone! I am back. I have found I can no longer post or even view the village from home! No idea why, it says the site is not responding, but other sites are fine. Phooey. Last night, I had to do an emergency cat food run. This involves a trip across town for a special food that agrees with dFosterCat13. The kittens have once again increased their appetite, they are already huge with enormous feet. I predict monster cats. Then I had to realign the corner cabinet spinner, fortunately, the instructions were left taped to the inside of the cabinet. After that, it was database work and crochet.

Yesterday and today, I had DD11 for lunch. She wanted Zios yesterday, but wanted to eat at home and visit with the kittens today. Worked for me. No art class tonight, the teacher is on vacation. Will do more database work and crochet instead. I know there is a knit/crochet group that meets on Thursday, but have no idea when/where.

ETA: Just found the knit/crochet group. It meets at 630 not far from where I live! I carry my project(s) with me always, so I think I will join them. However, I will get there early more like 530, so I will eat then hang out with them. They meet at a restaurant, so that solves both dinner and company. I am at a particularly repetitious section of the pattern, so company is greatly appreciated.

After I ate lunch I worked on the service and then decided if I was going to write a sermon I needed junk food. Phoned dh to make sure he didn't need me at home and then decided to drive to the grocery store (3/4 mile from the church) and picked up Perrier, house-brand Goldfish crackers (lower in fat) in single serving packets, so mini-carrots and a banana. Ate three of the cracker packets (which totaled only 1g more of fat than one of the name-brand) and the rest of the snack while writing.

It was like pulling teeth but I got a first draft done in about 2.5 hours. Writing at the church might be as good as writing late at night (both have few distractions.) I'll try it again next week.

Got home to a message from the retirement home. "The residents really like Kathryn" and she'd like me for 5 more Sundays. I know I can't do one of them and have to decide about the rest. I was looking forward to having only one service a Sunday. On the other hand, I like preaching there. They are very attentive (probably straining to hear!) and not distracted (there's nothing they have to rush off to!)

Dinner will be very late tonight, we haven't even started cooking yet.

This house is as clean as it is going to be, before we leave!

Dh was appreciative that I had vacuumed and wiped the interior of the car. Yesterday he went out to a flat tire before he left home on his work car. He took the SUV and I had planned to stay home anyway. Because of the rain last night, he wasn't able to get the tire fixed. So tomorrow he will take care of the tire, run the weed eater and we will wash the car. We have less than 25000 miles on our car and we bought it 7 years ago this month. So we are taking it, to get some miles on it. Dh keeps saying it isn't even broken in. It is more of a highway car so doesn't get good gas mileage around town. We should not of bought it but within 3 days we found that his dsis had oral cancer and our dbil had stomach cancer. 2 days in a row my car died while I was driving it. If we hadn't have been so shell shocked we probably wouldn't have bought it. But dh just wanted us to have a dependable vehicle that I could drive out of town, if his sisters needed me. So basically now we have a 7 year old "new" car that has been paid for, for several years. Every now and then he talks about getting something more economical, but we paid way too much for this, so he can forget that.

Dd1 called and said that dd2 had texted and said they are on their way home. The boys go back to their dads tomorrow at 1, so I know she will try to be home by then.

Guess I better eat supper. I have leftovers for both of us.

Dee (and the other mods) thanks for all the sweeping and dusting you do around our village to keep it running safely.

LisaB, congratulations on getting approved for your new house! I'm thrilled for you.

Well, I did tend to a good many things around here today. I got just about everything up-to-date at my desk, the last 2 projects for this month even. One of those has a lot of adding columns and rows and sometimes I simply have lots of troubles getting everything to balance, but this time I didn't have to redo one sum! I was so pleased. My brain operates better when I'm feeling better, so I'm taking this as a good sign.

One more LOL washed, dried, folded. All caught up now.

Helped DH a little with the tractor (mower) when the belt broke and when the new one got all twisted up. He cut our prairie today finally. Our neighbor in back came over with his mower and cut it shorter after DH chopped it off. Nice of him to do that. DH had helped him cut up a huge pile of firewood when they took down trees, so I suppose this was a thank you.

Trip out to 2 banks and library. Helped DH move around a truck. Made lunches for tomorrow. I'm tired from all this, but not 100% exhausted. Maybe there is an end in sight to the health dilemma I've been living with.

The neighbors had been feeding a stray cat and left it behind. It's a good mouser but shedding and looks rather shaggy at the moment. It used to live up the street maybe it will go back there.

Dgkids are home dgson was not such a dear this morning but we got through it.

Got the broody to return home from next door after a month I've closed that nest down.

Home from everything... ate waaay too much...

Talked to dmom on phone -- she did not feel well enough to attend the pizza party at dmil's and will bring dh his present tomorrow.
Now... maybe I can rest a little if dgs will stay happy in his little seat for a while, watching the Good Night Show.

Too hectic around here to really cuop but I saw some discussion of clothing -- "country club casual."

We have to attend a 50th anniversary party in a couple of weeks. Part of it will be in a church, renewal of vows, then we will move next door to a sort of event-center for dancing and heavy h... I can't spell that word -- finger foods, y'all know what I'm talking about. Good grief. English teacher retired 1 month and loses all skills whatsoever.
ANYWAY -- The invitation says "dressy-casual" -- what on earth does THAT mean? It's really hard to be BOTH, isn't it?
What do I wear??? Will black silky-kind-of-dressy pants do, with a dressy top of some sort, and the black rhinestone Y ellow B ox flip flops I wore to the engagement party last year w/this same crowd?
This is a crowd that sort of intimidates me anyway... but ooohhh... if it is possible to avoid a dress and heels, I certainly want to, b/c I will probably be on my feet a lot, I'm afraid. Not that I'm much of a dancer! OH NO... but just afraid it will be that sort of party where there's lots of standing around.
So -- what do you Emily Post types in the village say?

Lucylee: don't ask me about dress code. I always lean to too dressy partly because I have some very dressy clothes that I almost never get a chance to wear. Oh, and any heel over 1.5" is out for me, can't stand on it. For dressy casual I'd probably wear my basic black travel dress with a fancy shawl, belt, and bling for jewelry. The dress can go from beach to the hall in Stockholm where the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded (and has.) So that covers the casual bit and the fancy shawl, shiny belt and bling cover the dressy bit.

Your comment about dancing reminded me that my just-left minister will be inviting me to her 50th birthday party in October. Over 125 on the guest list so far, it will be at the local college and there will be dancing. When she first asked me she was using dancing as a incentive. Not sure that has the desired effect on me, but dh is scheduled to be out of town then so I asked if I could bring a date! She paused and said, "I guess so since I won't be your minister then!" When she reminded me about it last week, she again said I could bring a date. I can't imagine 'dancing' (I use that term very loosely, it is more clinging on tightly and moving my body with his) with anyone other than dh so if he's away, I'll be on my own.

Watched an interesting show on da Vinci tonight. Added Milan to my bucket list since I want to see "The Last Supper" in person.

Kitchen is tidied up. Dh put out the garbage so we are off to bed.

Oooooh, Lucylee, I'm the last one to ask what to wear. Dh came home and did a thumbs down on what I was wearing - knaki capris with nice cute flats, white blouse with bright scarf. Substituted black pants for the khaki capris and a different scarf and black flats and was still under dressed.(OTOH, I've always said I'd rather be under dressed than over dressed.) Ladies in short "cocktail" style dresses with heels that I couldn't walk in. Now I'm second guessing what to wear to wedding tomorrow p.m. I hate shopping for clothes and never feel that I know what to wear. In theory, wedding tomorrow at six p.m. s/b black tie, but I know dh will wear a suit. Men have it so easy - for casual they can get away with a collared shirt, khaki pants and maybe a sport coat, for dress a suit will do it.
