Got expenses and earnings records taken care of.
Later, after DH showered from working in the woods, I did a shampoo, etc..
The mail came. I have an elderly pen pal with a Downe's Syndrome adult DD. I write my pal's DD and send her stickers, she writes short precious notes back to me, which I save. I know it's clutter, but it makes my heart sing, to have a special friend who I make feel happy and visa versa. ♥ ♥

I downloaded a book, read through the lengthy intro, took a break to do my calendar and listen to classical music in my office for a change. A Mozart quartet's on now. So beautiful, relaxing, and brings back memories of studying piano for 11 years.

The sun ended up finally appearing and staying for the afternoon. DH's dfriend and dwife will go to an "Unfinished Car Show". DH's dfriend's taking his old rusty truck down to see if he can sell it. He's in a car club and works on restoring antique cars. Very interesting and he does such beautiful work, too. His dwife must be BO because their home is spotless, no pets, no kids, except visiting grand-she's on occasion. My home looks lived in, cozy, and theirs looks like it's a page from a house beautiful magazine. I'm happy with my status of SHE. It's just "challenging" on occasion.

Hi everyone! I had a very adventurous lunch with the Geek Girls! First, I set my GPS to the wrong destination. Not a problem, I thought! I looked up the address in the phone book I keep in the back of my car, reset GPS, and carried on. Only to find the place had moved! Found new address, re-reset GPS and successfully found the other geeks! I was not exactly on time. Fortunately, they had already ordered and I knew what I wanted, so it wasn't too bad.

Normally, I would be going to a knit and crochet group tonight, but someone is coming at 645 to bring a pill for dFosterKitten Levity. (He is the smaller of the kittens and weighs 8 POUNDS! at 5 months). Before they get there, I must do some fast cleanup. We will find out if I am 15 minutes from company ready. I need to do a Quicken update, read up on some crochet I am about to start, and work on crocheting DD11's quiver. Tomorrow, I will be going to the knit/crochet group and will get someone to take a picture of my sweater to put on Arts, Crafts, and Needlework and on Ravelry. I will also call my friend that I hope to eat lunch with tomorrow. And MUST remember to charge my phone!

I am having a problem with the animal org I work with. I am planning on bringing a street kitten to the feral cat spay/neuter clinic on 8 Sept. I have someone with experience taming ferals who wants to adopt it. However, she has another cat (also an ex-feral), so I am getting the kitten tested for feline leukemia and feline AIDS, both fatal, infectious diseases. The org is willing to carry out the testing, but I am getting pushback because I believe that if he (or she) is positive, he should be euthanized to prevent further spread of disease. Normally, they do not test cats, just spay or neuter them. Then a volunteer (me, in this case) keeps them until they are recovered (at least overnight). Then they are returned to the colony from which they came. However, this one is not from a colony and has an adoption path, but only if the tests are negative. This is not the first time I have run into reluctance to euthanize ferals. I had one in my house with all the symptoms of end-stage diabetes. No one could touch it to give it treatment, or even look at it directly. I had a hard time getting permission to euthanize if it was dying from diabetes. Fortunately, it was a different problem, and dResidentCat13 is alive and well, and probably sleeping on my bed right now. They did allow euthanasia of dFosterCat13's brother, who had lost a leg to bone cancer, then had recurrences all over his body.

Elizabeth, these are tough decisions but important ones. Best wishes in getting others to face them fully. How is Levity, anyway? I'm glad to hear of the healthy weight but thought you'd said something the other day that made me think he was still feeling poorly? Thanks for thinking of A, C and N thread when you get a photo!

I'm trying to schedule my schoolweek days by the hour exactly. If I can know "where i"m supposed to be" at each TOTH it will help me immensely. As usual for a school year, it looks on paper as if there will be plenty of project time. That doesn't pan out in real life, but I can aim. Frustratingly, the very next schoolweek day, Tuesday, I have a morning appt.

I've completed a 2nd load of laundry through to bedmaking today and taken a 2nd tall kitchen garbage bag of trash away. We are down to so few lightbulbs that I took one from a lamp for dd's overhead fixture.

I've developed a crick in my neck and I don't know how that happened. It actually may have happened trying to change that lightbulb up in the air like that, because I do remember an awkward moment. Or maybe lifting that mattress.... Anyway, an early bedtime may be in order.

Harriet, I hope your neck gets better soon! Was it a very high-up can light? I ask because DH has a long torso with very short legs and arms. We have 1 can light about 13' up high. He'd been using his dfriend-neighbor to come on a tall ladder of ours, to change the highest bulbs, but DH found a bulb-changing kit, which works like a gem. Now we only disturb our dfriend-neighbor when a particular high smoke detector's out. DH can reach all the others.

Elizabeth, Geek Girls sounds like so much fun!

Also, That's sad about the cats. I hope it works out.

I feel as though I'm finally here at Flying Friday! After my shower, listening to classical music, feeding the dcat, I sorted laundry and got DH's jeans and other dark laundry washing. We'll have leftovers for dinner.

I guess I did some flying today. Slow glide maybe.

Everybody is so hot these days. Here too. Although, we have noticed a degree or two cooler in the mornings. Not enough to put the fan in the window for a couple hours yet. Norma, I am wishing for a nice rain to wash all the smoke and ash out of the air. In fact, a hard steady rain to help those firefighters all over the west these days. MT, your heat is worse than ours. I don't know how you stand it.

Harriet, have you been back out to your quilt studio yet? You always sound so busy!

Thinking of the Snoopy Red Baron flying his doghouse - but picture me flying my desk. That was me today. Most days really. I wrote out the last paychecks for August, closed out everything. Sorted today's mail and ran to 2 banks. Checks came just in time to get them in before all the banks close for Sat & Mon holidays. Kitchen cleaned up and 1 LOL folded & put away.

Maybe some day I'll be able to do more.

Landed safely.

There's a ramp hold here due to lightening (no outside workers are allowed due to the risk they could be hit.) Somehow, we managed to get a gate and be allowed off the plane (usually that requires an outside worker.) So we are waiting in the baggage area until the hold ends. It might have just been announced as over, not sure.

At this point no planes are arriving at gates and nothing can leave. It is our first ramp hold experience although dh predicted it this morning when he heard the weather forecast for the day.

Uneventful flight on a lower-cost airline. Dh and I had three seats for the two of us and there's more than enough leg room on this airline so we were quite comfortable.

Dh read and napped, I watched HGTV.

We are glad we ate in Halifax (just sandwiches) because had we waited until now, it would have been very late for us and for ds. He's at home napping before his overnight shift.

Got home fine. It is still thunder and lightening but our bags got off during a brief break in the storm.

Ds chatted away until he left for his shift.

Not looking forward to the next two days. I'm too busy.
