Happy Birthday Nancy!

It is Desk Day here too. Balanced checkbook, straightened desktop and decluttered some old files.

Oh thanks, OKay. The chicken soup turned out good - it's one thing that everyone in our family likes and is easy to make. Ds#2 does so much for us and won't take anything so we like to help when we can. He did come this morning and mowed both front and back yard, finished just at noon and I had lunch ready to put out, but he wanted to leave right away - would even make a sandwich. We sent him home with the tub of soup and one of the small beef roasts cooked yesterday in the slow cooker. He said dgd11 was feeling a little better.

Those books are all good classics, Helia. When our dgkids were here in July dgd16 rented the movie Les Miserables and I watched it with her; we both enjoyed it.

It's a bright, sunny day here with white fluffy clouds, temp is 87*. The last week or so hasn't been quite as hot.

Dd1 and I walked this morning. Then I mowed. Now I am showered and working on laundry.

Dh had to run to the plant because of an issue. He plans to be back so that he can grill burgers for supper.

Better get busy.

Back from town, got a cover for my tablet found one at staples. ♡ chickens are fed eggs collected.
Had lunch, now time to work a bit more on the table.

I missed wishing Mr. & Mrs. Twins a Happy Anniversary, also! So -- belated wishes for many, many more!

Someone else had an anniversary also, I think. And I missed it, too. I've really been off my game lately...

And complaining about dmom apparently forgetting my birthday... * sheesh *

Long day, outdoor community-sort of picnic... grocery shopping... now to dmil's...

* sigh * I haven't even cuop for today yet, either. I need a nap.

BUT -- not all complaints! I am sooo happy that I do not have to go back to school tomorrow! Happy dance, happy dance...
Usually this Labor Day celebration wears me and then it would be back to the trenches... but no more...

Note to self: Don't put such big tasks on my Next up list. It takes me forever to get them done so I can come back and post again!

Lunch was an experiment that was a success. We tried Chicken fries. Everyone declared them a keeper in the menu rotation. I thought they were salty but most processed foods seems that way.

Next up -

Dh helped me carry up most of the stuff we had identified for sale from the basement (although dh wants to give it all away.) I'm going to not price items and have three donations jars - one for the church, one for Habitat for Humanity and one for the children's hospital. People can donate what they think an item is worth to the charity they want to support. On small items they can donate what they want - on larger items, I'll put a sticker and they are to clear it with me first. The goal is to live the scripture Luke 12:33 "Sell your possessions and give alms."

I still need to go through the pile of board games because dd had a couple of them in her 'keep' pile. And I'm not sure we'll bother to carry up all the TVs.

After the sale stuff is gone, I'll empty the rest of the games cupboard because that's going to my musician friend. Not sure where I'll store the games (a large number were kept.)

After working on the basement some, I moved up to the bedroom to sort through travel stuff. I feel like I could open a shop! Part of the trouble is 'just in case' which is meant dh had me keep three suit bags and only put two in the giveaway pile. Sigh.... we don't use suit bags when we travel but he just couldn't part with them.

Half the travel stuff is in the guest room, half in my room so I moved it all onto my bed. My closet shelf also had other things, including jewelry boxes (empty) and I found myself going through that instead of the travel stuff. That is now finished (I'm getting rid of only a few pieces of jewelry) but I'm exhausted and sore from physically bending over, sorting. And mentally from finding so many memories.

I'm trying my best to be ruthless. I'm overwhelmingly blessed.

Back from visit w dmom and grocery stop. The warning light for the emissions control system is off again but I'm thinking I'll take it to the Honda dealership in the morning to check in. Macs has PT at 3 in the afternoon tomorrow so there's time to fix hopefully if something is needed.

I got a couple of small steaks, corn on the cob and salad for supper. Will have dh fire up grill soon...

I need to do a major OMM brain dump update to my li&ts. I'm using Remember the Milk again for lists and a wire bound paper monthly planner for daily stuff. For those into planners, the blog "A bowl of Lemons" at http://www.abowlfulloflemons.net/2013/0 ... lenge.html has a link to join a Facebook group called Planner Addicts. These people are customizing planners with highlighters, Washi tape, color code pens, planners to match purses....waaaaay too much time on planner, LOL.

I'm echoing Lucylee, glad that I'm not heading to work tomorrow!

I am sooo happy that I do not have to go back to school tomorrow!

She is arriving on Saturday!!!!!!! I'm SO excited and terrified at the same time. We have been approved, apparently, and she called this afternoon and talked to dd17, dd15 -- and me. She seems very excited and nervous -- or maybe both. She laughed a lot.

I got the groc. shopping done and walked with dfriend for an hour.

S and R are here. Dh is cooking my bday meal. Should be fun tonight!

helia, she is so blessed to have you and your family as her exchange student sponsors/family. If I had a child going to a foreign country as an exchange student, I would be thrilled if you were that family. None of us would have had any doubts about you and your family not being approved. This will be exciting for us too, because we haven't had anyone with an exchange student, that I can remember anyway.
