Monitoring on Monday

Hi everybody. I had a successful weekend. I got the attic fixed on Saturday night after cat adoption clinic. It was SO dusty, my sinuses are still plagued. Sunday, I made Bible study and church, then painted the ceiling. My paint matching is not so hot, so I am going to try again, and may have to repaint the entire ceiling (bummer). I did not have DD11 this weekend because her father's parents are in town. I did some sewing on cat collars. I tried on some of my dresses for my Halloween costume (queen) and found two that I am going to take to a consignment store. The third fit ok, so I need a crown, scepter, sash, and medals to go on the sash. I found some white gloves. I guess I need something for my hair as well. Queen Elizabeth always has a hat. I did some kitchen maid work - cleaned the microwave, sink, and light globes (by putting them in the dishwasher).

Today, I have been reading documents and taking notes in Excel. I have also looked up how to winterize a swamp cooler and will try to get that done tomorrow. It requires roof work, so I need DD here.

I have a LONG list of errands tonight: pet store for cat litter, pharmacy, craft store for fabric paints and possibly Halloween costume stuff, and grocery store. Then, I need to cook some stuff for my work lunches. Oh, I guess I should eat dinner sometime!

What do I need to monitor on Monday? My maid. She (me) would much rather sew and read than do house work. I would fire her, but that would only make it worse!

Hello from Mountainair, NM!!
We had a VERY uneventful trip - which is just the way I like it.

Up early and gassed up and then came back to the Elk Lodge parking lot to hook up the pick-up. Then down I-40 west for about 50 miles.

To avoid going thru Albuquerque, we turn south at Santa Rosa and take US54 and US60 SW to I-25. It is pretty country, less traffic and I can see my horizons all the way.

The roadway and fields are full of cholla, sagebrush, tumbleweeds and creosote bushes, so I feel back at home.

We stopped in Vaughn at Patty's Diner. Can you believe they charged us for water??? $2 per glass. Next time I will have soda pop for $1.50.

Tomorrow we only have 153 miles to go - 10 less than today.

Choir was fun. We have plans. The musician had not picked hymns so we spent time doing that and are all in agreement about the good choices. Nine of picking hymns made it chaotic but still fun. The one I wanted the most, we don't know but worked on it - we all loved the words.

The following week is Anniversary at the second church so we'll all be together for that service. For this upcoming week, as many as can will come to my church first so there are more voices for the anthem, then they'll go over to their church. Dh and I (as the whole choir at my church) will then join them for their service. The music this Sunday and next is going to be especially good.

Picked up the mail including a parcel (our new router.)

Dh had several emails to work on when he got home and I'm dealing with a couple as well. Still have a phone call to make. One of dh's emails says we are to be at Santa Fe for 9 a.m. Not likely since we have reservations at the Blue Swallow for Sunday night. Unless we get up insanely early, we won't be able to come close to making it. So much for staying at a fun motel, we'll be in and out in a very short period of time.

Tonight I might be going to a meeting of survey facilitators but still haven't heard. Must submit my latest survey results. Will do that next and then start cooking some dinner.

Where has this child come from???? LO came home from school with the same bratty attitude that showed up this morning. ***VBSigh*** After we played ball together, I asked him to shut the gate. He turned to me and said "NO" and walked off. REEAAllly? His consequence is spending 5 minutes in the corner. Only 43 more seconds to go and we can start again. Hopefully with a better attitude.

I'm still looking for a purse size calendar for 2014. I wonder if I could find one that includes the Canadian holidays, too.

Does anyone know of an online calendar that includes holidays? I wouldn't mind printing my own now that I have a new printer, but I haven't been able to find the right style for a small size.

MT, will you be home tomorrow?

I've gotten quite a bit done - haven't hit any of those spaces, but have scheduled a vet appt for dMacs for tomorrow, a bath and nail trim for Moses, and pedicure for myself. Also need to pick up meds for Macs before 7 p.m. at the vet's office. Paid a couple of bills and scanned info in, talked on phone again about temple visit by a sofer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sofer) because we need to have our Torahs appraised for ins, ordered a Judaic wedding gift online, several temple emails about people not following through ( the secretary again) and emailed tax partner at old firm to see if I can come in and finish my return for last year.

I think I will head upstairs with a timer and do about 45 minutes of work up there, then go to get meds for Macs.

OKay, do you think it has anything to do with the asthma attack or is he "testing" you?

Serving water (without being ordered by customer) in restaurants during some phases of water restriction is against the law here.

LO daily book read together
LO read one paper of homework to me. This paper requires my signature that he read all the words.
Several more pages of homework to do. I try to break the homework pages up with other activities.
Do one page of homework.....play ball....do another page.....play drums....do another page
Because LO can't read 100% of the words, it means "I" have to do homework too.

I suspect LO is testing me. And little bit of acting out from insecurity. LO has been asking "Who is going to take care of me if you and Papa die?" I talked with his counselor about it and she said it was normal question for child his age to ask. The problem is.....we don't know the answer since the legal limbo continues. LO learned this weekend that his parents moved "far far away". Their moving came up with a comment from his brother to me and LO picked up on it. I don't think it upset him. LO is very persistent to ask questions on anything that intrigues or bothers him. He hasn't mentioned it since it came up in conversation this weekend. However, combined with the other question that he was already asking makes me wonder.

Spaghetti cooking for supper. Then more homework.

There is a circus in our little town but the only show doesn't start until 7pm. That is LO bathtime. Decisions. Decisions. Do I take him and let him miss a couple hours of sleep and deal with MR CRANKY from lack of sleep. Or.....miss the circus

Miss the circus. It will come back when he is older and can miss sleep better than at this age.

Twins - I won't be home for 2 weeks. We are headed to Deming to see friends and for an RV Rally.

We can't miss our trip over the border to the Pink Store in Palomas, MX.

Uh oh, I've turned lucylee Grumpy today! Thanks for comments on newspaper artistry. Teacher, who has only seen dd's class illustrations, took dd aside and showed her the former artist's portfolio as it related to the paper, hoping not to intimidate her. ... .. . Dd said she was very complimentary and won't show him any more of her sketches for a while, so that he won't be comparing them.... .. smile. Translation - there is no comparison, she's just being nice! There, I was as modest as I could stand to be.

Elizabeth, you'll need to find time to practice your wave. Find a video! It's a skill!

Dd33 has a good reason for not being able to come this weekend, and possibly not the next. Out of 55 potential plans submitted, hers has made the cut of the final 3 for the college's 5-year Quality Enhancement Plan. So she presents to the deans and dept heads Friday night. Then, she presents to the VPs and President next Friday, but doesn't know the hour. She says having her plan win out over the others would be a feather in her cap and give her an additional title, but it would also be a potential headache, since whatever plan is chosen is still sure to be changed quite a bit by the Pres, to suit his vision. Yet blame for any failures will rest squarely on the shoulders of the one who proposed it. She says all 3 presenters are heartily wishing each other well!

I am trying not to panic at a letter from the county. Spraying will be done on land near us that they own, but I can't find out which land. They will spray, then have a controlled burn, then plant a pine forest. Obviously, they own it (even though some of it was taken from a neighbor who didn't want to let it go), so they can do as they please, but this sounds ominous and it means land that has been open space for my entire life will undergo a forever-change.
