OKay, I'd take the boots back with proof of purchase, describe amount of time he wore them, and ask them what sort of boots to buy in the future since these obviously were not an appropriate purchase for him. That might get you a discount on another pair of boots. And, BTW, $70 is WAYYYYY TOOOOO MUCH to pay for something that only lasts a couple of months.

I'd take them to a shoemaker and see what he can do before spending money on another new pair (unless the shop is going to give me full credit for the first pair.)

I'm finished the bookkeeping. Pleased with my progress. And that helps tidy things up on the counters since the receipts look so messy. I also feel more confident about our money situation when everything is paid up and balanced.

Ds didn't pay our shared credit card bill before he left so although he gave me $300 to cover off his monthly charity expense while gone, that money has been used up for car insurance and the b&b he used when he first arrived. He's been paying everything else with cash or the new bank account, but that was before he had a bank account so he had to pay by credit card.

It's 43*, 100% humidity, heavy fog, slowly lifting to a sunny afternoon. It'll be the same pattern all week/weekend, I believe they said.

I was ill this a.m., but am fine now. I have lol going, started writing in my journals, and have been watching the news and reading FM articles on-line.

I'm going to take it slower today, although I have a lot of plans, but meaning to say it'll be a baby-step day.

I have a wonderful Dfriend who's sending MY DH a b-day card for his 72nd b-day on Oct. 27th. Sometimes the adult kids don't send cards, but phone and give a gift later, when we're in person. For my Dfriend to remember DH, makes my heart feel good because DH will be so very surprised, yet pleased. She's a widow, knows how special of a man DH is to me and all he does for ms/us, so she knows what it's like to be so in love with a DH. She tells me to feel lucky because she misses her DH so much. Her advice is so good.

I'd better check my card for my a.m. routine again and run and set the dawn simulator for a.m. because DH and his dfriend get up early to do firewood. We have 8 3/4 cords, need 10 to make it through until spring or a later spring, in case of weather not warming up. We ran out this last spring.

What's "Trending Tuesday" reminds me of myself and how I read the latest trends or news on-line. There was an 18-foot carcass of a sea serpent found, several people are holding it up, and it's amazing these types of creatures exist in our oceans.

We haven't had success taking boots for repair. The last couple of times we went to local boot/shoe repair shop, we left very unhappy. There is another shop that I know of but it is a 70 mile drive (one way). It just isn't worth it for us to drive 280 miles (there back twice) to get repairs done. LO has been growing out of his boots every 3-6 months so I expected to buy him new ones before the holidays, I just didn't expect these to fall apart so dramatically before we got him new.

Watched episode of Duck Dynasty online. I enjoy the humor of that show.

Kathryn: I think I do have Windows 8 at home. Like DeeClutter, I was able to post until a couple of months ago.

Think it's been just about that long that I haven't been able to open this site on my newer laptop, Elizabeth. Of course it's in the repair shop now so don't know if it will work after the repairs or not. I plan to ask them to try getting into this site. Wondering if there was some change in "8".

Okay: I will try the Chrome browser, I know Firefox didn't work. Then, I will try compatibility mode. And if none of that works, look into a Windows 7 emulator! I want my site back!Elizabeth

I've tried all of those, Elizabeth, but no luck. Perhaps in all the trying I managed to really mess up my computer? I do know that the problem with it is in the software and not hardware.

And I'm not sure contacting an administrator would have helped me at all, especially since "I are one". And I knew not what to do.

Still no word on my computer -it's supposed to be done the 15th -that IS today, right?

Have some maple bulk sausage in the freezer (I'm defrosting) and planning to make that and eggs for supper. Trying to use up anything in my freezer. Know the dates we'll be eating out -or at least some. Have a steak I wanted to cook on the grill for ds-R & DDIL, but they've now closed up and gone home for the season. There aren't too many holdouts here any longer. But there's always a few. Dh will turn off the water to the bath house/laundry room on the hill tomorrow -"probably". But that is the official 'turn-off' date.

Dh did say this morning, "2 weeks from today we'll be on our way". Uh no. That would be 3 weeks and we'll probably leave sometime between that Sunday & Monday. Depends on the weather forecast for our travel route. Gets too 'iffy' for snow about then -and I don't do WELL in snow!!

I just did a quick look through what boots are available in LO size at Big city store. I suspect boot shopping will be quick & easy. I think I will try to add it in with the zoo trip. If I was a betting person, I would bet LO will pick this boot the moment he sees it. If that is the one he selects, it isn't a quality boot, but will hopefully take him through the rest of the year.

More desk-day progress!

Wrote a church thank you note (I had sent some off to people who had worked so hard over the summer and one of those people suggested I send one off to another person so I guess I'm the thank you person now!)

Wrote a birthday letter to my duncle (he's 101 today.)

Wrote a note to my minister friend and popped in an article I had set aside for him. Was going to give it to him weeks ago but ended up not seeing him.

Filled in a government form and got that in the mail too.

Picked up the mail at the general store when I posted the other items and it had more bills to pay and another piece for me to scan and send to ds.

Even so, my kitchen table is much, much, clearer now and there is only a small pile on the counter which has a home elsewhere, I just haven't moved it yet.

Next challenge is to get dressed. I'm doing a survey tonight and these fleece pants and t-shirt aren't suitable.

Hi again! I just wanted to tell someone I have finally finished catching up on my Listbox email (where I keep emails from mailing lists like FlyLady and some crochet sites). Last week there were about 500 emails there! YIKES!

Tonight, I am hoping DD11 will want to go to a pumpkin patch place rather than just stay home. She will undoubtedly want to eat Chinese, which is fine by me.

I'm late getting here, but I have a good excuse..I've been busy around the house.

Cleared and cleaned out all the kitchen drawers. Also did my bathroom drawers as well. All clothes are washed and put away except for the ones Sweetie and I are wearing

Dusted and of course picked up all footprints although they were kind of sneaking up on me. Haven't felt well for the last few days so some were waiting for my attention. Bed sheets washed, bed changed and clean...phew see what I mean?

Dinner is ready and hope there is time to play a hand or two of cards with Sweetie. We haven't done that in forever and want to start doing that again for a bit of "we time" each day. Always good for a laugh and a few smiles.

Lilac...I tripped on the bucked sidewalk a few years ago...in fact I think it was just this time of the year. End results were more than some scraped hands and knees...remember I broke two ribs. That wasn't fun... Hate it when the driveway attacks early in the morning

Doesn't sound like you had much fun either Elizabeth. Best advice I ever received was to use a raw potato pushed up in a broken light bulb to remove it. But then again us "do it your self gals" know that there will always be some owies in our lives.

I was going to sub tomorrow, but decided to work around the house instead. There are two major tasks I want to tackle and decided to move on it while the motivation is there.....

Waving to y'all...Sweetie is hanging round my shoulder and whispering...well he's not really being quiet about it...that he's hungry and wants to eat. Told him dinner's already done and to pull it out of the refrig. Sometimes I wonder how he ever managed to live alone for 14 years without starving

Forgot to mention.. I wear boots most of the winter. In fact I guess all of the winter. Usually I don't have a problem with them cause I buy my boots at K mart. I can't seem to wear those dear things out because the boots are made from some man made materials. However a year ago I bought myself two pairs of real leather boots at Penney's. If shoes fit me well I don't care what I pay for them.

I ran into a problem with the boots because I sometimes drag my left foot...another result of those stupid mini-strokes..and knocked the leather off the toe tip. My solution was super glue...ok it might have been gorilla glue, I love that stuff...and a permanent marker like sharpies. I colored in the exposed part of the toe where I couldn't cover it with the torn leather. Had to do it to both the black and brown pair of boots. Worked great, but still will buy my next ones a K mart. I have a really weird toes and need a box that is deep enough to fit my feet and K mart brands always seem to fit.

In the past when I was wearing heels to work I tried to keep a pair of comfy shoes to drive in, otherwise I would wear the material off the back of my heels. But sometimes I ended up using the same above procedure to fix them. I'm tough on shoes even when I'm trying to be careful.

Funny story...Last fall it turned really cold on a Sat. night when we were going to a car show. I put my boots on cause it was too cold to wear sandals. I didn't pay much attention to them until I started walking around the parking lot to look at the cars. Didn't realize what bad shape they were in till then and was wabbling around as I walked. I looked at Sweetie and said "see ya" and took off to K mart. The car show is in their parking lot. Found a pair of boots to replace my 4 year old pair...bought them and wore the boots out the door. When I got back to Sweetie and my friends they all laughed at me. I'm good to go this year so I don't have to worry about them.

Gotta go...Sweetie's yowwing at me like an ol' cat needing to be fed.
