Re: Monday Mix and Match
Correction, Harriet:
DH said it's a 1.5 - 2 hour drive there, if I walk around and stretch there, I'll be fine, plus have medication. It's all by freeway, hard to pull off to do stretching and get back on. I'll be fine. Done it before. It's the next day, after travel where I do myself a mistake. I'm physically and emotionally drained, so I tend to sit in one place too long and get stiff. I'm going to search for some more tips on traveling and I have been able to stretch my legs in the car. Also,
the seat reclines, so I could lay back, stretch my arms up over my head to get some shoulder stretches, then arch my back while reclining and this would help, too. When I told DH that I told you it'll take an hour to get there in 100 miles, he said,
"HOW FAST do you think I DRIVE?"
The nice thing, too, is they have a huge home, and I can be on my feet chasing toddler grsons, too.
My dfriend who has early onset dementia or Alzheimer's is getting a visit by me in the later park of the week. I've talked to her DH and since she used to crochet, I asked him if it would help if I brought a very simple-to-crochet dishcloth pattern and yarn, to see if she can crochet again. He's thrilled because it'd be a good focus for her to be able to do something new. She has hooks, I have hooks and I'll re-print my pattern page, put it in a plastic sleeve with cardboard from shirts, to make it stiff and longer-lasting. It won't get all bent or dirty.
I walked for a half-hour, some of which was waiting for 2 business calls on the phone, then after they were done, I kept going. The pity was how I'd opened the dining room bay window blinds and WOW!
All the dust on my china cabinet shelves shone up terrible. Like the "dusting of snow dust" hit in the night.
I dusted the shelves real good, rearranged things, and next project will be to strip the shelves, clean with glass cleaner and put things back. I also stripped the bed sheets off and started them, and did some stretching and ended up red-in-the-face and dripping with perspiration all over my face by the time DH drove up.
It's nice to know that housework can give us exercise like that because you MIX AND MATCH: You clean & exercise.
I napped, have been counting calories, too, am doing well with that, got 4 letters in the mail and also have a social phone call to make tomorrow. I called today to see when my 97-year-old friend will be free to chat, since she'll be at the doctor's today. I'll walk-talk to her tomorrow.
She's got a soft-spoken voice and contagious laugh and when she's talking, sees humor in what we're talking about, her voice cracks and you know she's smiling when she does this, which makes me smile or laugh. She's like a sunny day in the midst of a terrible dark dreary winter. She's amazing, still walks, and I hope she makes it to 100.
Have a great early evening and evening, ALL of you.

Re: Monday Mix and Match
Dd and dsil came home but have headed off for dinner with friends. I bought one of those "Entertainment" books with coupons and there was a coupon for the restaurant so I sent that with them too. The snake is snuggled up on top of the gas fireplace to keep warm.
Got the Arthritis canvassing materials back to the coordinator.
We are going into town tomorrow so I've figured out how to put photos from my computer on the tablet and I'll take those to show our hair stylist and the chip wagon owner. They'll both be pleased to see pics and excited to see dd. It has been a few years since dd's been to the chip wagon and many years since she's seen our stylist (she's known him all her life.)
Now to clean up the kitchen and get to work on the service.

Re: Monday Mix and Match
Evening y'all...
I had a really mix match day... got up and did my morning stuff, picked up foot prints, went to the dentist, uck...then to the post office and grocery store. Came home and put everything away and didn't want to sit down for fear of running out of steam.
Then it was off to library, picked up a STACK of books...isn't that what retirement is all about...and finally stopped at a new TJ Maxx that has moved closer to me.
Came home...still didn't sit down...and made dinner. Cleaned up the kitchen, put everything away and then came in here to read my emails....Phew, I'm tired just writing about my day.
Twins...I wanted to say something about your Dsis's clothes. When my dmil first went into her health care facility, the nurses told me not to bring in any good clothes. She had a laundry bag where her soiled stuff went and when her clothes came back half the time they were never her's. Then when my dad went into rehab and eventually his care facilities the same thing happened only this time I warned my mom about it. We went out and bought him sweat shirts and pants from K mart and used a laundry maker on everything, including his blankets and pjs. My mom and I got tickled because we brought the stuff home to her house to mark them and I told my mom I felt like we were sending my father off to camp. When I was a young girl my mom and I did the same thing to my clothes before I went off to over night camp. We bought a laundry marker btw because it lasts longer than permanent marks...another thing I learned with my dmil.
Ok, my day is over and my teeth are really beginning to hurt. Time for some hot tea and advil. Cyall tomorrow.

Re: Monday Mix and Match
My day is pretty much in J&C. Uneventful, somewhat pleasant day… but exhausting beyond belief for me. Good grief. I am NOT cut out for this. When I got home, dh said he was going to his dmom’s and I said, “Good.” Then he said, “After supper, I told ds I would come over there and watch the basketball game (preseason, on Internet only) with him.” I said, “Good.” When he came in just now, he said, “Can you stand me yet?” I told him I could; I’ve had a nap now.
Just wanted to say hello to everyone here, too.
Sometimes when I click on this site, or click “submit” or something like that, I get a screen that says something like “Address cannot be found.” Is that what is happening with some of you who have been complaining about not being able to post or get into the site?

Re: Monday Mix and Match
Elizabeth, with Gravity and Levity getting adopted at the same time, I just have to ask - do they get to stay together?
Skippable - After the insistent email from dfirstsisil, which was accompanied by a phone message to both HRH and me, we put our heads together over the weekend and came up with a carefully worded response, from his computer for authority, no signature just "we", responding to "all" for transparency. We simply repeated what I'd already said, using the past tense in hopes everyone would remember (or find out for the first time) that we had responded when first asked. Whew. It is awful to feel you need "documentation" to manage communication with family.
HRH has asked me out to lunch tomorrow, to a restaurant his Thai-restaurant friends have recommended to him, where they go to enjoy southern comfort-food type dishes! LOL. Since they are such excellent, super-clean cooks, he figures any place that's a favorite of theirs is a favorite of his. Our only nearby cafeteria-style place closed up, and so the idea of some similar dishes is tempting. Definitely suspect it will be off my way-of-eating plan, though.
