I meant to comment about your "girls" earlier but forgot to post. Most likely the girls that appeared at your door were gypsies and are long gone from your area. Either that or they are being made to work by "guys' who own them. You shouldn't hesitate about calling the police. They need to know

Many run-away-girls get caught up in these scams as a way to survive. Usually a group of kids live in a van which is controlled by the male adult driver. They are forced into this type of work and must pay the drive all that they make for food and shelter. Gypsies on the other hand are trained at an early age how to go into a community and scam the residents living there.

I had some come to my house once and played along with their game. There was a teen boy and two younger girls with him. They too were selling school cards. I was trying to gleen information from them so I could notify the police after they left. My purse was sitting on a chair in plain view of the open door. The boy tried to persuade me to get him a drink of water, which of course would take me out of site of the door. I knew what was up and refused. Within a matter of minutes the teen got very angry at me because I wouldn't get him a drink. I told him he could use the outside water spicket if he wanted. That made him even more angry.

I finally told him the gig was up, laughed in his face and shut the door. A few minutes later I went outside in hopes of seeing the van, but it was gone by then. I still called the police to let them know.

Had a rough start to the morning, but by the time DH went to town to shop, I was fine. I used the Miracle Ball Method for my trigger points, massaging the balls to trigger points against the wall. Later, I did stretching and walking. After he returned and we put everything away, I napped. I'd been crocheting and listening to music, was drowsy, and only slept about 30 minutes. It's windy here, drizzling and raining on and off. I'm 1 row over half-way on the afghan and sorted the mail, too.

Need to make a Costco list for DH because he'll go Mon. or Tues. and this past week I had 2 appt.'s, which tired me out and next week there are NONE! Yeah!

I got out the metal turkey sculpture for the table and I also got out the wooden Pilgrim couple who have a sign that says, "Happy Thanksgiving." Next, I'll start cleaning on chores listed on my "Thanksgiving O. M. M. List". I'm taking it slow so I don't over do. I want to be a happy hostess on Thanksgiving! Not a grouchy worn to the frazzle bear!

Ivy, are your children and grandchildren coming to your house for Thanksgiving?

Dh is packed and loaded, except for toiletries, cpap machine and his laptop. He wants to be out of here by 6:30 am because he wants to be in Springfield, MO tomorrow night which is about halfway.

Dgs19 came home to go to the HS football quarter finals which are here. The team isn't doing so great right now. I have it on the radio. Once your team gets to the playoffs, your reserved seats are no longer yours. Dd2 and I decided not to go since dgd17 isn't cheering. The varsity team is in Kansas City for a cheer competition. Dgd17 was bit by the flu bug and didn't get to make the trip. They left yesterday. She missed school yesterday and today. The JV cheerleaders got to cheer for the game tonight. Dgs19 is headed back to the university tomorrow morning because they have a home game at 2:00. I might not get to see him but he will be home in less than 2 weeks for Thanksgiving break.

I have the last load of my laundry in the washer. Right now everything is clean but the clothes on our backs. I plan to get my laundry done up again before he gets back, so I can start on his. I sure do a lot of laundry for just the 2 of us. I must have spent all of my kids' childhoods doing laundry. Dd2 has a constant battle with laundry. It's no wonder with 5 kids, a business, a part time job and now a move in the picture. Yikes! She is one of those people that does best when she is under pressure.

Our newspaper was streaming the game live over the internet. I hadn't been able to find it. After my last post, I checked FB and someone had put a link to it. I was able to watch our team score twice and they won the game. So next week they face a power house of a team and the game is away. So dgd17 will be cheering at least 1 more football game this year.

Haven't cuop yet but wanted to post before going to bed.

Had a wonderful day that went like clockwork. Dh and I headed out of the hotel at 8:26, got on the 8:32 bus, were leaving the car rental place with an upgraded, fully loaded, Ford Taurus at 9:02 and were on the road to Taos at 9:40 with not only our luggage but AF's (Australian Friend's) luggage in the trunk and AF and the Chinese Delegate (CD) in the back seat.

Thunderstorms were predicted for noon at Taos but rain held off until 3 and we even had sunshine at times. The Rio Grande River Gorge bridge was phenomenal. Lunch at Dragonfly was great. The Taos Pueblo was fascinating. The drive back on the high road wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. The guys got to see snow as well as great views since the storm that was hitting Taos wasn't all along the way. But there was enough cloud that the sunset didn't blind dh.

We dropped CD at the hotel in Santa Fe at 5 and were at our hotel in Albuquerque at 6:30. We checked in, went for dinner at Dion's (a local pizza and sub place) and stood up from the table at 8 p.m. At 8:30 we walked into the hotel lobby having gassed up the rental car, returned it and took the hotel shuttle back to the hotel.

We are just decompressing from the day for a few minutes before heading to bed. Dh is quite congested and has no voice. He drove just over 250 miles today and is exhausted.

Our flight (AF and we are on the same flight, seats near each other) is at 10. We upgraded to economy plus because I didn't want dh all cramped in the back.

Congratulations to your high school team, Lilac! Glad dgs got to see a good game -- and glad dgd will get to cheer one more time! (I'm so sorry she missed out on the competition this weekend!)

The young salesgirls... my goodness. There are benefits to living out in the country. We don't get a LOT of door-to-door traffic like that. Sometimes, but not often.

DGS has been pretty content in his playpen since supper time. I know he gets tired of being confined, but good gracious, this granny gets tired of walking round and round and round the house, following him. There is NO WAY at all to confine him to a large room and have all the "no-no" items out of reach.

Still * STILL * he does not talk. Some little bit of jabber-jabber, but NO repeating anything I try to get him to say.
He recognizes all objects, even seems to recognize some of his colors, comes when called (sounds like I'm talking about a puppy, doesn't it?) BUT... "Say truck... truck... " No. No truck. Pats the truck. No words. If I try to make him say something, "Milk," for instance, before giving him his sippy cup... that just makes him mad. Screaming, crying, but no "milk." * sigh * DH/DS say he WILL talk, eventually. ALL OF YOU say he will talk eventually. Just so frustrating for this granny who has never stopped talking, apparently.

Talked to dmom a long time on phone. She & daunt are thinking it might be nice to do our large family gathering for Christmas on some other day that week, rather than Christmas Day. * sheesh * I told dmom MY little family would definitely be against this move... and pointed out that duncle & his wife would probably have no where to go if that were the case... (Although that's not exactly true. She has a brother, and they've been kinda on outs, but I think that may be improving. Might be a great time for them to have freedom to go there.) Regardless, dh/ds/ddil would DEFINITELY be against any change in our own family tradition. Suggested to dmom that we might do late evening/Christmas supper. We just do finger foods at Christmas, anyway. Good grief. As if we don't have enough change to deal with this year. Absence of ddad... loss of grandparents' home... dcousin w/cancer... now they want to change the day.

I put a bunch of items in my amazon shopping cart, so I guess I am doing some attempt at Christmas shopping. Need to get sizes/etc... work on my list a little more... and then decide what day I can manage to hit the mall.

Realized I hadn't heard from ds in 9 days so sent an email. He responded right away. He's been four-wheel driving on an island somewhere.

All I need to know is that he's alive.

All 4 bags were locked and loaded before midnight and they are all under the allowable weight. I can't think of anything that we may have forgotten. Unlike one time where I took stuff that didn't go with anything else. I have also taken stuff that didn't fit before. This time it all fits and everything mixes and matches.

I have 2 hot spots that can get dealt with tomorrow or not. Not stressing. See you all on Dec. 9.
