LO hearing test & appt with ENT was a little disappointing. It appears LO is in the 20% of children that need tubes in their ears more than once. His tubes have fell out recently and now he has fluid behind both of his ear drums again. So far the fluid is thin enough that it isn't affecting his hearing, but there is minimum vibration on his ear drum because of the fluid. The ENT doc is putting LO on OTC and prescription meds for a month in hopes the fluid will clear up. Doc will recheck it mid February and decide then whether to do surgery again this spring or hold off until fall. If the surgery can be postponed then it might resolve itself and we won't have to deal with the ear plugs while doing summer water activities.

I put a pot of beans on to cook before leaving for doc appt. It was so nice to walk into the house and smell them and also to have the bulk of dinner menu ready to eat.

Okay, my ds had three sets of ear tubes; it does happen.

Dinner is in the oven.
H . is home I have two thirds of the laundry done now.
I need to wash my hair.
Got the living room vacuumed.
Trash is dumped trash day is tomorrow.
Time to check my to dos.

I am happy to say I "walked away the pounds" 20 minutes before s2s.
All "morning routine" completed by 4:00 p.m.
Then dh and I went to --
post office
CVS
Wmart
-- and started home.
Dmil called to say she also needed Alka-Seltzer & would we check her mail.
Stopped at smaller, closer, grocery store for Alka-Seltzer... got her mail...
Paid our electric bill
Came home, unloaded our groceries
Hung load of laundry to dry
Put another pair of "wash separately" pants in washer
Delivered dmil's groceries
Back home, ate supper
* DH had a L ean C uisine philly cheese steak panini, which he said was good... but my goodness, it has a strong, weird smell, and now I think I can still smell it! Yuck. If I were 30 years younger, I'd think I was pregnant. Smells don't usually bother me too much. I'm not going to say anymore about it to him, b/c he will decide he has food poisoning... but ugh. I hope he doesn't buy that anymore.
Discarded 4 magazines, b/c 2 arrived in mail
Made phone call for dh, to slow down shipment of supplement he orders by mail
* This took all of six minutes. DH had asked me to do it tomorrow, b/c he "didn't have time." We had much longer conversation re: WHY it is that men think everything is faster and easier if a woman does it.

Whew! Always makes me feel sooo much more productive to see it all written down like that. I guess Monday mattered around here after all!

Ivy -- I'm glad you finally got your insurance straightened out. I'm still concerned about ds's. He and ddil got signed up but they made them put dgs on another sort of policy. It's a state thing -- All Kids -- I think is the name of it. It is probably something like Medicaid for children only? I didn't really want them to have to go that route, but if they had not taken the O b a m a care route, they would be paying about three times what they used to pay per month! So... we shall see. DGS hasn't been to the doctor yet, since getting on the new policy, but he has his 18 month check up at the end of the month, and they know their pediatrician will take this policy. We have friends who have used it and used the same doctor... so I'm sure everything will be fine. Just wish things didn't have to change AT ALL.

Lucylee, My b-day's not until Wed. the 15th, but I've been receiving b-day cards for a few weeks now. For my b-day gifts, DH let me order what I wanted. ♥ I got a chunky cardigan, which is very warm, a dump cake and dump dishes cookbook set w/pan and a book called "Chickens in the Road," by Suzanne McMinn. She has a blog, too, which if you "Google" it,it'll come up. Her book's about farming after a divorce, moving across country to WV. Also, she's located away from the Charleston, WV chemical spill, up in the hills from it, has her own well water and also a different water company than the one affecting all those customers and citizens in the Charleston area. She also writes a column for the Charleston newspaper, she has cooking, crafts, recipes and forum at her site. She also has a newsletter. It's cook you did walk away in your pajamas. I still need to s2s, since I d2s this a.m. Been trying to get housework/laundry/snail mail done ahead, so I have my b-day "free" to enjoy company coming.

Also, I had to go onto Medicaid, because of low income, so the insurance is through the state under an insurance plan, who contracts out with the state for those in need. It'll be for 3 years and then I'll be Medicare, but I'm planning on keeping my insurance plan through the state, when they'll be private insurance for me with my Medicare, when I turn 65.

Nancy, I need to shampoo, too. Want to try electric rollers for my new chin length "do" tomorrow, so will wash my hair tonight.

I cleaned the guest/main bathroom and powder room, except for the powder room inside of the toilet. I did the outside of the toilet. I'm still Biz soaking/washing the guest/main bathroom towels. Decided to do the kitchen counters after I bake my dump cake tomorrow after dinner, will do the dining room table tomorrow, and get help from DH to sweep/mop the bathrooms and entry. I use a Swiffer dust mop with vinegar, he doesn't like the "smell", so I let HIM use this mopping terrycloth cover thing on a different mop with some smell-pretty ♥ stuff, which is fragrant, making the tile smell so nice! It'll be nice to get the house finished up after dinner; the main living areas. Then, I'll relax on my b-day, enjoy our dfriends, and phone calls from DD and Dson. (On Wed.)

OKay two or three of our dgkids have had ear tubes at least twice, if not three times. It is more common than not.

Lucy our dkids all liked legos and still do. Your dgs might be old enough now for the duplo blocks, the bigger version of tiny legos.

We're still waiting for the t-storms to start; they said 90% chance tonight. Probably just when I get settled down to fall asleep!

Too exhausted.

Did not fly yesterday. Got through the safety briefing and were on our way to put our packs in the lockers when another employee ushered us back into the briefing room and reported that the cloud ceiling was too low. There was no guarantee that it would lift later in the afternoon so we gave up and went shopping instead.

I had a very successful shopping day. As you recall, I didn't have capris and was concerned about the hike today. At Sears I got capris, a nice shirt, a great skirt, knee-hi stockings (forgotten) and a great top. Dh got a wallet (his split a few days ago) and a white shirt (he had left his white dress shirts at home but remembered his suit!) He had also picked up a Hawaiian shirt in the morning when we had walked around downtown Hilo before the failed helicopter ride.

Got back to the ship in time for tea and trivia. We came in second, so are holding our own even without the entertainer to help.

Dinner was delightful with new couples to chat with. The show was good too.

Then bed and a short night because our tour left early this morning.

This was the strenuous hiking tour through the rain forest to waterfalls.

I wore my new shirt and capris and they will have to go in the wash tonight. Sweaty and dirty.

The hike was really tough and I'm sitting here with my leg elevated and icing my knee right now. But I made it. Three miles. With a delightful swim in a rainforest waterfall fed pool. The guide was fabulous and we had a great time.

Got back to the pier and decided to leave our things with the security officer by the tenders and go walk around town. Bought more clothes. Dh has a Hilo Hattie shirt which he loves so we went to the outlet store and picked up a sundress and skirt for me and a shirt for dh. The skirt and shirt are the same pattern so we'll match but not be too matchy-matchy.

We are now back in the cabin. We've ordered burgers and fries (and a salad) for dinner and will eat in the cabin. I'm too tired to be sociable. There is a soaking bath in my near future. And laundry. I was walking down the hall and heard a little old lady say "She fell on the grass." Actually, that's from climbing over fallen tree trunks - we had to sit on them and swing our legs over. I'll post pictures in a few days.
