There is a quiet sunset here today. There are no clouds in the sky so there is just a pinkish-gold haze near the horizon. I've noticed the sunset is just a little bit later each day.

I've had a quiet day here at home also. Puttered around today and took care of some odds 'n ends after daily routine was done...paid the last few bills of the month, cleaned off my desk and processed a stack of papers (filed a few, threw most away), switched new aarp cards for dh and I. I baked some soft taco shells in the shell bakers for salads for supper. I've got some laundry sorted for washing tomorrow; also have a small pile of mending to do.

Dee...wtg on the Chain Tasks. I think our low temps coming up will be in the upper 30s; we're always a little warmer here by the coast.
Kathryn...I enjoyed your recount on the last few days of your trip. So glad you and dh are having nice weather and a pleasant vacation.
BookSaver...I was sorry to hear that you lost your kitty. I know you will miss him. I'm glad that you had an enthusiastic turnout for the Legos Club.

Harriet...we have 3 dsons, and yes, the youngest is with the U.S. Army Band in D.C. He was 34 on Nov 12, his wife was 34 on Dec. 20. Our ds#1 will be 44 on Jan 30 and middle ds was 39 last June. Dsis's dds are close to my first two. I wonder how many other Villagers have dkids the same ages? Interesting thoughts!

Sunny, Thank you! I just researched about dense breast tissue v. s. fatty breasts at Susan G. Komen, too. It's normal as we age to get fattier breasts, sometimes it's inherited, and if you're not on an HRT as an older woman, you'll have fattier breasts. Fatty breasts are easier for the radiologist to read because the pictures are more gray. The denser the breast, the more white in the picture and the denser the breast, I understand, the risk of cancer goes up. In some states (5, I believe I read) they are now rating dense breasts with a 1, 2, 3, or 4 rating, which is included in your mammogram results envelope. They say someday all states may do this. It was interesting reading. So in one way, you could say I'm healthier OR I'm getting OLD!

I had an upset tummy from red onions in my deluxe taco salad with grilled chicken meat. DH suggested I pick out the red onion, before eating the remainder of the salad for my dinner. I took a generic Zantac, rested, crocheted a scrubbie for BFF's Dmom and did 1 lol, but towels are washing, so will dry and put them away. I only walked 20 min., will do yoga/Pilates for exercise after dinner, and get some housework done for my activity. My physician wants me to move more. I'm trying to. I just make sure I'm up and running around for a bit before sitting down again. Also, puttering around helps move me more, too. It'll be so nice this spring when I start container gardening,too, because that's more exercise. I should probably write a list pad of exercise DVD's I have on hand, which are the most fun to do, write different types of exercise I do, and write down some new things to try. Of course, there is the FOCUS duties to do, too, which can be super active, too.

Oh, I forgot to put deodorant on after my mammogram. I'd better go do that now! Anyway, the Susan G. Komen site is very good for information on dense v. s. fatty breasts.

Booksaver, I'm SO SORRY you lost your kitty! It's just not the same when we lose a pet. Sorry for your loss.

Wow I got so much done today. If I was this productive all the time, I'd live in a spotless house all the time. Know that's not going to happen, though...

Got kitchen all cleaned up after dinner and made lunches. Brought in LOL hanging and put that away. DH gave me 2 of his old flannel shirts that are so torn and worn out he said to take off the buttons and cut them up for rags. I think I would like to make a lap quilt out of old flannel shirts someday...however the ones he's done with are so bad they're not usable for anything anymore! One has all patched and mended spots and I remember doing that about 15 years ago!

We are coughing less now, cold crud symptoms have eased up considerably for us. The grandkids are better too. H. still has a bit of a cough mine is pretty much gone.

Dinner is done, dgd is gone she was here a bit later.
I got hen chores done for the day.
Work clothes are done I need to finish up with laundry maybe tomorrow.

Ivy, dh saw his Dr today and later they THOUGHT the appointment with the specialist had been made -but then was cancelled. Appt was made with the wrong Dr for the test he needs done. Very few doctors do this test and there was only 1 in Rochester. His gastro Dr. just took on someone who also does it and they have said that he will get a call early in the week with a new appointment. So it's wait and see.

Dh stopped to see DS-R today. Of course he's still sleeping in the recliner. He goes back to the ortho tomorrow. I'm so surprised Sadie has gone back to work already with this surgery. DS is out for many months. DDIL#1 is still home with him. Dh did go buy boots today and plans to go watch dgs9 play lacrosse on Sat. then DS-A is picking him up to take him to DGS14's hockey game. WEll they're not letting him get too bored. He did stop to see dgs18 months and he's still calling his big brother "Hockey".

Dee, That's too bad about the dr. delay for your DH. Also, did your DS-R get his shoulder surgery on the side he uses normally all the time? I wondered if that makes a difference? Did he have a torn rotator cuff?

Harriet, I understood that women with fatty breasts have easier-to-read-pictures for the radiologist to see the cancer because they're grey, but with fibrous breasts, there's a lot of white in the photos, so it's harder for the radiologist to read. Hence, other tests nowadays, too. They explain it better than I can tell you, at the Susan G. Komen site. I also understood, fatty breasts meant less incidence of breast cancer compared to those with extremely fibrous breasts. I guess these are newer findings, too.

Another hand up for fibrous breasts. There's no greater risk, its just an ultra sound is needed if they want to read through them. That's why I go where I go. They do both every time. The state owned / funded screening clinic just do mammograms unless there's a particular point wanted to check out. In the end I prefer thorough, with me not left thinking - If there was anything there they wouldn't have found it.
I think the only greater risk - is them not finding things they can't feel that are left to grow.

I've got some things done here today. Pleased with myself.
