Home from errand run. I need to focus on the positive tonight.

Ta-das:
-wrote for temple bulletin
-did all of a.m. routine
-7200 steps so far
-dogs have had two walks today
-got groceries, gassed the car, dropped off a dmom's and bought pillow forms at Hob lob for front porch, also dropped off at Goodwill
-got OMM stuff down

Tomorrow I'll try for a desk/work day. I got home too late to start the soup so that will roll over to tomorrow also.

Not my ship and norovirus has never happened on this line to the best of knowledge. Cleaning is constant here plus there are so few of us.

Great walk around the Mount. Will write more later.

Picked up postcards in town and am now back on ship for lunch. Will probably stay in the rest of the day since I'm limping after the walk. Plan physio and a nap and then writing.

Twin's Mom, my advice would be to abandon the OMM list then, and create a 5x5 for tomorrow and an open-ended 5x5 for temple biz (in other words, doesn't have to be done in one day - could be 5xSabbath). Also, find a benign topic to give your brain at bedtime and try to hold to it until sleep. Last night was a poor sleeping night here because of being one oddly warmer night in a series of cold ones, so maybe that also affected you, too, and you can sleep better tonight.
And if I nap that makes it even harder to get to sleep at night.
So true for me, too. In theory, a quick bit of calisthenics can help get back the alertness at that nap-moment - some low-impact jumping jacks, perhaps, or the 3-minute hoe-downs I like to do.

helia, glad you have a bit of reprieve on your schedule - sorry it is because of weather. Nice to hear from GG and hope she is well and happy staying with you.

BookSaver, stay safe. Did you have any trouble with PO run?

Oh Kathryn, so sorry to hear dh has hives. Dd says she knows how he feels. I hope this can be over with quickly, also your cold over with quickly.

Cowinkie, you don't mean the headache got worse and you needed to lie down, do you? I know how you hate to have a long headache. Oh, there you are 1.5 hours later chatting with us, so maybe not.

OKay, congratulations to dgs16.

((Sadie's ds18)) It's great that you have several in your family who can all help each other.

Oh Harriet I had it all day. Just tried to ignore it, but that didn't work. It kept on coming till I had to give.

Twins .... There are plenty of sleep apps that will help you go to sleep. Many are free. Plus you could get a radio app and just listen to soothing music. We listen to old time radio programs. Also you can down load an app to listen to books. I use that all the time especially when I have a migraine. Mines not free but I really enjoy it. I can't remeber the name because I still have a headach but I'll look it up for you.

I just listened to a wonderful book called the seamstress. It's about a Romanian women growing up before and during WW11. The narrator read with a Romanian accent and by the time I finished the story I felt like I had lost my best friend.

Here is my progress:

lunch (done)
resume (done, along with cover letter, and uploaded to company I am applying to)
upload files for benefits application
call mom
start process for fundraiser for animal org
look up a crochet pattern
reserve video at library (not necessary, on the shelf)
grocery store
library (definitely!)
crochet on commission project
me care
cat care

What I am up to next: library and grocery. The library will provide me with a Dr. Who video to do the commission crochet with. When I get home, I will call mom, look up the crochet pattern, and start the process on the fundraiser. See y'all later!

PS: I am so grateful for a group I am accountable to. I know that the village is not going to pinch me if I don't get around to all the things on my list. However, I find that telling all of you what I need to do is getting my booty in gear to do it. Sending thanks and virtual cookies to all PWYCers.

I wish so many of us weren't sick. I'm glad Kathryn's ship doesn't have the Noro. That one is awful. We got it once from DGS and everyone he was around that weekend got it too. Uggh!

Lucy, read your computer file problem...that would be annoying for sure. Mine tells me file already exists, do I want to replace? I have no idea what I'd do if it didn't prompt me with that. Maybe it's just doing it automatically?

An hour at my desk. One trip out for an errand for DH. Then I spent the rest of the day on a project fixing my drapes at the bedroom sliding glass door. They've never been hemmed, just pinned after all these years... ... and the rod bracket sticks out a few inches and that leaves a gap. Apparently DH thinks people are up there on ladders peering into our bedroom  so he takes the drapes and pulls them over the bracket at the top. Makes them look really bunched up and bad.

So I got a yard of fabric in same color and made "wings" which I sewed onto each side and put a buttonhole and a button so now the door is completely enclosed. Looks ok. I suppose we should have put the rod up higher or out to the sides more...but we didn't anticipate that problem.

Adjusted the hem an inch longer and sewed that too. Washed them and the door and wall around it..no more dust bunnies. Gonna see how long it takes DH to notice it!

Presently our couch is upside down in the living room. We've been working on a new handle to raise the feet (handle broke off) but we haven't figured out how to attach the spring underneath. Cleaned out lots of stuff that had fallen down in there.

Got a bunch of papers copied, permit going in soon. This will be a job I'll need to help keep track of while DH recovers. Wish me luck..

Harmony - you are doing great! So much accomplished. I hope the job goes easy while your DH is down.

Elizabeth - YGG! Thanks for sharing the virtual cookies!

LO is not 100% over the stomach bug, but nothing has come out that shouldn't (IYKWIM) in the past 16 hours. Hopefully he will resume normal eating soon. I think we are going to send him to school tomorrow. Maybe. Not sure whether to keep him out another day or not. They are doing Mid year Dibels testing this week. Not sure which is best choice.....for him to miss the testing or take the test while not feeling 100% well?

Ugh! Just received phone call from life long friend. She just received call saying prepare to evacuate home due to fire headed her way. She lives 1/4 mile from DH family land. I've made 3 calls to continue the change of notification. Spreading the word.

Editing to add - Fire is under control. Family and friends are returning home.

ohmigoodness, OKay! Thank goodness for the report that the fire is contained.

((Elizabeth)) We are glad you do not pinch, either! Happy for your good news - a relief. Maybe that unresolved issues thing just pops up for everybody at first. The problem with being a night owl is that others aren't, and you'll end up getting a package delivery in the morning and miss it, or the phone will ring with a call you need to take.

Sleep - Cowinkie reminded me that I very much appreciate the "ocean" setting on our nighttime sound thingie. Since I've had it, I haven't had the adrenaline rushes as badly when awakened abruptly in the night, either. I used to wake up with my fingernails lodged in the ceiling if Sammie barked right outside the bedroom window.

Harmony, great job on the curtains, hemming and everything - wow, you got ambitious. I should bring my buttonhole project to you! Haven't ever made one with this machine, and I still have that hanging towel idea on my mind. But other mending is ahead of that in line anyway.

Dd came to give me a good night hug and I was exercising to a DVD, so she leaned over as I was holding a long stretch and gave my cheek a kiss. She said, "Mama, I'm proud of you for exercising." I need to put that on a compliment card!

Hello to everyone! I gave in to the nap... and may go to bed early.

I am trying to decide whether to Call the Man (Dentist). I know I should... but ooohhh... this IS a pretty busy week... plus the terrible cold weather doesn't make me eager to get out and about... AND -- I'm kinda terrified of what will be needed. I've had a spot on one tooth that dentist has been "watching" for the last two years. I remember him using that term at past check-ups. Well... I think I know what he's watching for. I have begun to have severe, sudden sensitivity to -- something. I can brush my teeth, floss, and eat pretty well, but every once in a while, I get this sharp, "quickening" sensation. Usually like when I breathe in deeply or something -- to cause air to hit it. * sigh * I am NOT a happy camper. I can't tell exactly which tooth it is, but it is either one that already has a crown on it, OR it is one that has a large filling in it already -- which will probably require a crown at this point. Ugh. I just totally DESPISE even thinking about this, and I HATE the dental work... and I HATE the $$$ involved. Because we do not have dental insurance. * sheesh *

I made remarkable progress w/my back-up files. Once I am working from one (specific) file to another, it works very well, and it does ask me if I want to delete/replace or keep both files with the same name. HOWEVER... if I just do a blanket "My Documents" or "My Pictures" to the new one, yep... looks like I get copies of EVERYTHING. File NAMES are not the same, obviously, from My Passport to my PC. I wasn't that organized. I don't do a lot of files on my PC... (except in My Pictures, but when I started seeing documents in triplicate on the Passport... I realized there was a problem and started organizing there.

If I can just be consistent with saving, though, I think I can get a handle on it.

I did go to the teachers' lunch thing today, enjoyed it.

Saw dmom... she had lost her SUV keys so drove truck out here to get spare keys from me. Mentioned, "I may end up giving that truck to (ds)... I want a truck, but I don't need one that size. I've just got to decide what I do want. I don't want (ds's) truck, but I could trade it in on something else."
Hmmmm... Of course, it will probably be another 8 or 9 months till she DECIDES... but my goodness, she does have sooo many decisions to make. She wants to sell 2 Corvettes and a boat, plus 2 utiltity trailers. Plus she has to get her taxes in order... insurance claims filed... and all her health concerns taken care of. If I were in her shoes, I'd probably lie on the couch and zone out to old Westerns on tv, too.
She also said, "I just don't think I'm going to be any better until I have that surgery, so I might as well back my ears and do it."
That of course makes me nervous and fretful, too, but the sooner it's done, the sooner it's over.

Went to Wmart w/dh... bought our groceries plus almost $70 worth of groceries for dmil. Delivered those to dmil.

DH started washing towels and I went to sleep.

* WHEW * So glad the fire was contained, OKay! (((BIG HUGS))) for LO!

Looks like lots of hugs are needed in the village... hope all of you who are dealing with illness or various aggravations * hives, for example! * feel much better soon... and hope you caregivers can find a few moments to care for yourselves.
days and nights reversed. When I don't have to go anywhere, I revert to my natural night owl schedule. I wish I were a morning person, but, alas, I am not.
Elizabeth, I am so glad to see that there are others out there like dh & me. It's kinda embarrassing to be a nightowl in a normal world -- like when dcousin stopped in at 10:30 in the morning and I obviously was still in bed. But dh says the remote chance of that happening is not enough to make him want to rearrange his schedule to suit the world. Says he is 62 years old; he should be able to go to bed when he wants to, LOL!
Harriet is exactly right though, re: the frustrations that go along with it. Living on Elvis Presley Time only works well if, like Elvis, one has an entourage that awakes early to take care of the rest of the world. And of course, seeing that Elvis' life ended at 42... maybe that didn't work, either. Of course, I'm sure he had other problems besides being a night owl.

I need to exercise. Maybe someone will come tell me they are proud of me too. Not likely.
Tomorrow is another day.
