Crazy long day. Still need to try to call dsis and walk ddogs and have probably spent last two hrs on phone.

I decided that I really should go get oil changed in my car. The tires also needed rotation and brake fluid needed to be changed, but I got that squared away. If I need to go see dsis later this week instead of next week I can do so.

Ds's meds are very expensive - I didn't get them today but told them I would ck with insurance company regarding the cost. (Verified w insurance co by phone that cost is high because of deductible. Also found a manufacturer's coupon at dmom's drug store that will help.)

Dropped off a large bag of unused meds at sheriff's office drop box. Dmom has tried a long list of anti-inflammatory meds over the years.

At dmom's drugstore, issues with getting her bp meds and glucose test strips. Checked w dmom's insurance co tonight and her glucose test strips s/b about $40, not the $160 that the tech quoted. She also was quite confused about 40 mg bp meds needed.

Stopped off at W hole Foods for a walk through and found some cut hyacinths that smell so good! Still have not found Helia's recommended Lawash wraps - will have to try Trader Joe's in ATL.

Also called medical ins re: them not paying for the CPAP machine....after going through numerous phone menus the dept I need to speak w was closed for the day.

Then a long phone call w temple Admin VP... close to an hour.

Holding now for dsis and I bet they've forgotten me but if I hang up I may not get through again. Ddogs are going nuts because I keep yelling "HELLO!" info phone.

Going to hang up and go walk ddogs and I'm done. Stick a fork into me.

I got my laptop back today, have been doing computer stuff, and other things on it, like plan out my calendar, read obits, etc.... It feels good to have it back, too. I'm trying to get used to the New Times Roman font on it and I'm absolutely in love with my larger icons on the front, when I'm not at a site. With my eyes (AMD) it makes seeing them so much easier.

We're in for a real cold snap this week. But at least I've got Under Armor, a wool chunky knit b-day cardigan and leg warmers now, too! I have oodles of gloves and mittens, in my new-clean and organized (left from the porch/entry FOCUS week) entry closet, too. DD gave me some back.

Hi everyone! I finished my dragon painting this morning! It is a Chinese lung dragon in the water chasing its tail. Since its horns are fully formed, it must be at least 2000 years old. Wings are fully formed at 3000 yo and this one doesn't even show wing buds, so it is probably not much more than 2000. Friday, I also managed to complete DD11's stuffed owl. That went fast because she did the cutting out (the long part) and all I had to do was the sewing. This means, of course, I HAVE UNCOVERED MY SEWING MACHINE!!!

Last night, I went to a surprise birthday party for a friend. XDH and the other woman were there. In keeping with their new 'be nice to Elizabeth' program, she talked to me about my cats, job search, DD, and a recent (extremely scary) injury sustained by her DS. (DD had told me about him being taken away on a board by ambulance with a possible neck injury. Fortunately, it was not serious, though I am sure he was very sore.)

I returned a boatload of library books, but checked out even more. I was just settling down to some nice job search activity, when DD called. Her after school club had been cancelled and she could not get hold of XDH. I rushed out the door to pick her up and managed to get hold of him while waiting in the parking lot. Turns out there was a procedure she was to have followed on the cancellation, but she did not remember it. However, all agreed that she had come up with a good, safe backup plan. When XDH arrived at my house to pick her up, he reviewed her on what she should do next time - take the bus to the after school place she goes to when there are no after school clubs. (This is not the city bus, but a special bus that goes between after care and school only).

I have a long list of things that need to be done, but I am getting a migraine. Therefore, I should eat something, even though I am not hungry.

So glad to see that Ivy is posting again.

I think 2,000 is an excellent age for a portrait, Elizabeth. I am not even sure what medium you used. If you are continuing to enjoy painting, let us know in A, C and N your thoughts on it. Both HRH and I painted in oils once upon a time in our separate lives when we were young. I have one painting each of ours framed and hung in the house. Dd has done some watercolor.

((Twins' Mom)) So much to think about. How kind of you to try to help your dmother's dog, but I agree it would be chancy to introduce even more pills to keep straight.

Cowinkie, I hope your travels are safe and you have a great time taking your dmother out to eat.

Errands have exhausted me today. I had my circle planned and got just far enough along to make it foolish to return, when I realized I'd left the tax info behind. So I ended up having to do part: school, pet store, PO, pharmacy, return home, and go back out to the tax preparer's office and back to pharmacy to pick up.

Things seem halfway normal around here for a change.

I made cornbread, and y'all, it turned out PERFECT. I mean AMAZINGLY perfect. It just slipped out of the pan like Martha Stewart had done it, no sticking at all. AMAZING. DS and ddil have decided I am a better cook than I admit to being. We all scraped the chili pan clean, too, so I don't think ddil cared that it wasn't homemade. DGS enjoyed his, too.

Talked to dcousin (the one with cancer, who is getting a new granddaughter Wednesday) tonight, also. She was doing pretty well.

Then dfriend whom I used to work with called, who never calls, LOL... and we talked for a good while (while I chased dgs around the house).

Talked to dmom; she and doctor agree that the surgery can be put off for a while -- she is more concerned with some of the other things right now, since doctor told her this is NOT like cancer, it is more of a quality of life issue -- although he did want her to realize the seriousness of kidney infections, he was not trying to scare her into the surgery, he said. So she feels a little better, which means I feel a little better.

Third load of laundry is in now, and I have two more small loads to go, if I'm going to get it all done tonight.

S/S bathrooms, except for master bath.

Kitchen is clean.

Kathryn, will y'all be flying home after your visit with ds? Everything has just sounded sooo wonderful on your trip, but I can imagine how exhausting it must be getting to have to be "on" socially all the time. That is one reason I don't think dh would ever take a cruise.

Elizabeth, the painting sounds so nice! And the stuffed owl! You are so creative. And you are also being very... noble? What is the word I am looking for? I am trying to say I am very impressed with the way you are taking the high road in these dealings w/x and the other woman.

Dmom was talking about tax stuff tonight, and I did get a LOL from her -- I told her if she got put in federal prison for tax evasion, it probably wouldn't be so bad, and she could get all her medical stuff taken care of on Uncle Sam's dime... She said, nah, she had sent them their money, and plenty of it, so they were not putting her in prison. She said she thinks as long as they get their $$ they don't get too excited if the paperwork isn't in on time. But she would like to get this all behind her, and she needs to talk to dbil the lawyer re: closing the business.
