Re: Three Thousandth Thread Thursday
HI everyone! Boy did my plans for today get changed! I got a call from XDH that DD11's school got cancelled and she wanted to stay with me rather than go to her daycare. So instead of doing job search stuff, I have been goofing around with DD. She made snakes out of perler beads and pipe cleaners and ALL of them needed testing. We found that two of them needed glasses and five had dyslexia. Fortunately, no one needed hearing aids. For lunch, I raided the freezer and find I am almost out of freezer food. We have watched a lot of Hardy Boys on video and I braided DD's hair. Then, I actually got some of my commission crochet done. No job search stuff though, I can't use the computer while videos are running. The computer is the only device in the house that allows viewing. (I will not be watching the Olympics or American Idol due to complete lack of a television).
Tonight is art class and I need to find a frame for the water dragon. (XDH reports that the roads are now fine). I will log off, eat something, then venture forth to find the frame.
harriet: Really. Froot Loops. And I was given the go ahead for my nice Southern sweet tea. Also encouraged to go visit Alabama where mom and then-MIL would see my skinny pregnant frame and feed me good home cooking. They wanted to see calories, calories, calories. They even considered IV type feeding. I looked like a stray cat.
helia: While you are in FL, don't forget Busch Gardens in Tampa. I like it better than Disney. It is easier. Disney is so large and complicated and full of long lines that it takes PLANNING to get around. BG is not so difficult, so instead of running around on a tight schedule, I felt like I was actually on vacation. Get the meal plan. (That last goes for BG and Disney).

The internet slowed right down so nothing was loading. Just plugged in my tablet and it seems fine. Trying to unpack in this tiny room and getting frustrated.

Hi, Kathryn! Sorry about the internet.
Count our area in for weather report changes. Snow in the forecast now.
A dreaded phone call and I was nearly late to pick dd up. Then errands. Back at home started getting caught up on laundry. Helped with finding a civics article in a printed news source (teacher counts off 10 percent for internet-only). We're blessed with lots of papers lying around, lol. HRH had just collected for recycling and we still found article choices easily.

!!! 3000 Threads !!! What a great Village we are
Waving hello to everyone.
It was cloudy and cooler all day here -- tried to rain, but it came ashore 25-30 miles north of us. It's only 57* now.
Lazy day for me; just did some puttering. I did work in the kitchen, moved stuff and wiped counters and decluttered a lot of plastic containers. Cleaned my desk off and did a few other little things -- nothing exciting.
I thought about Harmony and dh and Mr. Deeclutter today. Hope all went well for both of them.
Harriet...I'm glad there's no ice. Oh, sorry, just saw that you are expecting snow... I hope not much.
I am watching Olympics now. I like the winter games better than summer, but I watch some of that also. Speaking of tv, it just occurred to me that Helia said they couldn't get the super bowl channel. Wonder if her tv is analog and without cable or a converter wouldn't be able to get many channels.
Time for my evening cup of tea....

Re: Three Thousandth Thread Thursday
Elizabeth, sounds like you and DD had lots of fun together.
I'm watching the figure skating on TV. So beautiful. I love the winter olympics. Sorry you won't be able to watch, Elizabeth.
Dr. apt was timely and nice. This guy is pleasant and extremely friendly. He did not give us exact lab numbers which irked me, but was totally ok with DH since he said everything was ok except for total cholesterol which we are working on. This dr. doesn't sound negative about supplements, etc., and that is refreshing. The fax of a good report is on its way to surgeon.
We stopped at supermarket on the way home, I wanted just a few things, and we ended up buying a cart-full.
Had a couple imp. phone calls. Taxes are ready to pick up. Plans are ready at draftsman. Tomorrow will be busy.

Sunny, we do have analog TV but we also have the converter. We've gotten several channels in the past. I would like to watch some of the Olympics, so I hope we can get it figured out soon. How were they tonight?
Local newspaper article said that there are 5 ice dancers from our area who will be in the Olympics, including one who graduated from kids' high school. Dd18 just said there are siblings that graduated from the high school in the Olympics - but it was unclear what she was talking about. I'm not sure that is true. . .

Helia, they have been going back and forth between the team ice skating and snowboarding. They all look good to me!
The U.S. has not been in the top 5 so far. I hope you are able to watch. Maybe you'll see someone you or your dds know.

Re: Three Thousandth Thread Thursday
Just popping in for a CUOP.
Snow's in the forecast for tonight, Friday and Saturday, turning to rain and warmer for Sunday. Right now it's 8 p.m. and 30* outdoors. It seems a bit warmer tonight, than last night at this time.
I scanned a subscription order to Poets & Writer's Magazine, sent it to myself, via PDF, and printed it. I've never done that before, so it was kind of fun to try something new-to-me.
I take 3 crocheted dishcloths and 1 scrubbie I made, to my dfriend with dementia, tomorrow for a chat. Sometimes, it's hard to visit because her memory fails her and she gets a bit frustrated. I'm looking forward to a good visit with her.
A pen pal wrote how she's on the verge of losing her job, so I promptly replied to give her a "pep talk," and told her of some options she might consider, too.
I felt badly for her, so I hope my encouraging letter helps her feel better.
I got 5 bookmarks in the snail mails today!
3 were from DH's CO cousin, from her garden nursery where she works and 2 were from DH's insurance company.
I gave DD 1 bookmark, because, of course, she knows DH's cousin, too.
They're so pretty, have their website on them, flowers, etc. ♥
I'll work on another letter this evening. And crochet. Without a TV in the great room, I can read, etc.. to the radio music. DH is in the bedroom, watching TV. We get the new TV on the 12th, which will be so nice to be able to watch The Olympic Games on it from the 12th, to the closing ceremonies. It's uncomfortable for me sitting on the bed or the bedroom chair, to watch TV, so I'm only getting a minute or 2 of TV here and there, but I don't mind. So much news is on-line, too.
Have a good night, Everyone!

Re: Three Thousandth Thread Thursday
3000 threads all full of people getting along together nicely, who woulda thunk it?
Library group meeting tonight went ok, not great. I was able to report on the good things happening with Lego Club. Disagreement within the group about how much time we all should be spending doing fundraising activities. 2 people think we are not doing enough, and they insist we should have a big special event almost every month.
Tomorrow I need to do some shopping, and want to work in some time to pull books from my shelves to donate to the library's used book sale shelf. Scheduled lunch with a good friend to catch up on her news.
