Thursday Thievery

Plans change once again. DD has holidays from school today and tomorrow and wanted to spend them here. I already had vet trips lined up for dFosterKittens, so she just went with me. We saw a dog under anesthetic and she commented the he looked uncomfortable. I had to reassure her that he had no idea he was on an operating table in an uncomfortable position. By the time he wakes up, he will be in a recovery crate on a nice soft blanket and full of IV painkillers. Naturally, she wanted a Chinese lunch! Then, on to the library! My book on reserve finally came in! We watched some movies at home while she worked on weaving projects and I worked on crochet.

Next up: dinner. After that, I will do job search activities until a 730 church meeting. Then, I must get her something for valentines. Turns out XDH suggested DD's twin friends call me for a ride to her birthday party on Saturday. Kind of annoyed me that he did that, but I am giving the twins a ride anyway. It's certainly not their fault their parents have irregular work hours or that XDH doesn't have room in his truck. DD and I are going to clean and vacuum my car tomorrow. It is a disaster area.

My arm hurts incredibly much right now. I carried both kittens and crates. Why did I do that? Especially knowing that Taki is already the size of a cat AND he is overweight.

Exhausted from the million phone calls it takes to deal with the fact that one dear aunt wasn't answering her phone this evening. I'm sure lucylee would understand - it takes a village of relatives, and each one has to have updates on the research and then updates on the discovery she's fine. So we've gone through who has a phone number for who, and what friend might there be, and who talked to her when, etc., etc., etc. I finally just called ds and had him call the fire dept where her grandson is Chief and they called him at home and had him call me. Sigh. Ultmately, she's fine - she was unable to answer her phone because she was on the phone. Dear Uncle here beside me was so grateful for my last call back. He says now he can sleep tonight.

Oh well, very pleasant to talk to my first cousin once removed, and it's good for ds to get a dose of the needs of his great aunts and great uncles, and their worries.

In the lounge at Wellington Airport.

Haven't had internet since yesterday morning so am connected now for 45 minutes. Will also grab lunch.

Got off from the b&b just fine. There was a note this morning reminding me that I still owed her $40 for the additional person in ds's room and that she had people coming in tonight so needed us out of the rooms asap in order to wash the sheets and put them back on the bed. Hmmmm, I have two sets of sheets for my guest room and don't run a B&B.

Met up with one of the computer staff from Weta Cave (currently working on Hobbit and worked on Tintin) for a coffee before heading to the airport. Very interesting. It is another gorgeous day here so the kids are running up the coast. They have one hostel tonight and another for 3 days. The car is returned tomorrow. It is an 8 year old rental car but 1) affordable and 2) large enough for 4 people and all our luggage which is unusual for outside North America (i.e. the taxi on the way in had a suitcase beside the driver and we didn't have ds & TGF's things with us then.)

I cried when I left ds. Couldn't help it. Am still weepy now when I think about leaving him. Emailed him money and gave him $250 in Australian and NZ cash. Suggested that regardless of whether or not he got a job he come home when TGF comes home in May. That way they can travel together as far as Vancouver.

We really love her. She fits in perfectly with our family humour, joining in the teasing we do with each other. She seems wonderful in every way. The only weird thing is how much she reminds us of dd. I'd be happy if she was 'the one.'

Our flight to LA will be 12 hours, sitting up, overnight. I'm hoping to get some writing done during that time. We are in premium economy in mini-pods that have good leg room, some amenities and should have electrical and foot rests, all of which will make the flight more bearable. We arrive at 10:30 on Friday (it is currently 12:40 on Friday!) and will stay in a hotel until early Saturday when we fly home, in economy. I'll pay to upgrade us if it is affordable. There's no food at home so we'll also be paying extra for the taxi to stop at a store along the way. Actually, they have limos at the airport that aren't pre-booked, so if I see one, I'll grab that since it isn't on the meter so the stop won't cost extra.

Looking forward to a good night's sleep.

Quick check in. Incredible day. Was so tired from all the tile work yesterday I didn't even hear alarm until 5 minutes before we were to leave for doctor's. Managed to get out the door pronto and on time for appointment. The 3 weeks he had previously told us it would take for him to schedule evaporated into 3 days. DH is having surgery Monday.

I don't know how I'm going to handle all this. The caretaking doesn't bother me. All the stuff going on with his company does.

We came home and immediately got to work. Jack hammered up another 7 tile, with much chiseling and grinding work. I had covered up everything in the bedroom and the bathroom, took up all the carpets, etc., we worked from 11:00 till 8:30 when he had to take a tool to jobsite. I continued to clean and put those rooms back together. We have set all the tile from the last 2 days except one. That one he needed to build up the base which he did. We need to finish that one and grout everything.

We have pre-op apt. at hosp. at 9:00 tomorrow morn. We have papers to do and notary signature (work stuff) and I need a few groceries - we're out of bread. I'm sure glad I did all that cooking so early. I'd never have gotten it done otherwise.

I can hardly move. Every bone and muscle aches. Poor DH is not allowed any supplements or pain killers. He has not been sleeping anyway, I have no idea how he'll manage till Monday.

Elizabeth, Good luck and success on your job search. My Dsis is now living in Utah and she's doing the same you are. Applications and interviews all the time. Very time-consuming and frustrating.

Twins', You sound busy with paper.

I got my s2s this afternoon-late. It'll be this way tomorrow, too, as the cable man comes about 8 a.m., so we need to be up and "going" early. DH has taken all the cords from one side of the built-in entertainment center, hooked them up to the strip, in back of the TV stand, which is smoked glass with a floating shelf. THEN, he didn't like the CORDS! So, then he takes them, re-does them, to hide them better. He's happy. Or IS HE? He decides, to move ALL the cords AND cable box/DVD-player, from the right entertainment center, to the LEFT one! Then, he leaves to go get a special cord, for a better picture, as the TV isn't running yet, because we most probably will need a new box, which is updated for new TV's. So he hooks up this cord, he doesn't like it, he thought the TV would WORK, then decides, "We probably need a new cable box. I'll wait until the guy comes tomorrow." So out goes the cord. Now, he's waiting on baited breath for the cable guy to get here between 8 - 10 a.m. tomorrow. Am hoping he comes about 8 A. M. so DH doesn't lose his mind and do his cord-trading-inserting-taking-out-game again! This is so funny to see him do this. He can't make his mind up over these cords, but one good thing is: Both sides of the entertainment centers have been dusted, cleaned and re-decorated.

I'm off to CUOP. Have a wonderful night. The only thievery around HERE is: WHO STOLE DH????

Back from the clinic and then got blood work done for Rx refills. (I got day time insulin at the clinic too.) Life flight helicopter was leaving when we arrived at the hosp. For the blood work. We had dinner afterwards.
The hens have been closed in for the night.
Babyn has figured out how to feed the chickens it was so cute!

Ivy rewarded myself with some reading time today.

Nancy, I was thinking about rewards, too, and reading's one of them. Also, crochet and making cards for a BFF's b-day, too. I think rewards are good motivational tools. Without motivation, life would be too much hard work and not as fun.

It looks like, if everything goes well tomorrow, with the cable guy, our new TV will be up and running. DH won't be in the bedroom all the time, watching The Olympics, with me in the great room or office. It'll be nice to see The Olympics together AND ON VALENTINE'S DAY, TOO! ♥ ♥

DH went to the dr. office today for routine drug study labs, check-up, etc... He doesn't see the dr. for this, he sees a special nurse there, who's trained in the drug study info, etc.... His BS used to be very, very high, but with this blind study he's been on for about 5 years, going on 6, his BS has come down, he's lost weight, and feels good. He's lucky how his doctor's an internist who specializes in diabetic patients because his daughter was born with diabetes, so his interest is because of her. He's a wonderful dr. and DH is in good hands. He does a weekly abdomen injection to administer the med, plus he takes pills for it. The injection's rumored to be a form of insulin. I've enjoyed the drug study because they give their patients gifts and DH has given them to ME! Like a pedometer, a box of playing cards, water bottle with a holder, etc....

I'm back. Happy Valentines Day. I did manage to get DD11's V Day stuff - a stuffed animal (like she needs another!) and two small things of candy. It occurred to me that, even though I am broke and cannot contribute money to the animal org, I can contribute a crocheted fancy shawl for the silent auction. I found 4 potential patterns and narrowed it to one I thought I would have the right yarn for. Depending on when it is finished, I may do another. What is left for tonight: wrap present (DD arrives early tomorrow), cat care, me care, then BEDTIME! Good night!
