Normal-land Tuesday

This week deep cleaning focus (for me) area is our bedroom. This morning I disassembled the bed then cleaned everything well before putting the pieces back together (rails, box spring, mattress, etc). It takes a solid 30 minutes to do all this plus washing/drying all the removable pieces. Two loads are done - the bed comforter and mattress pads. A load of sheets/pillow cases are in the dryer and load of pillows in the washer. It will probably take most of the evening to finish up the bedding pieces and get it all reassembled.

I have become addicted to watching 7th Heaven. All of the eleven seasons are free on Amazon Prime and I'm slowly making my way through the 200+ episodes. I take the Kindle with me into the kitchen while I cook/clean and the time passes quickly while watching an episode.

Paid 3 bills over the phone.

Worked on my monthly budget and took the PT Co-pay off.

I had dson-18 help me take things off the coffee counter and i washed it off, then he helped me put everything back.
I washed off the kitchen table too.

Folded and put away the white laundry.

dson-25 came home for lunch and unloaded/loaded the dishwasher.

And dson-18 swept and mopped the kitchen.

Did my Bible reading

Dee my doctor said yesterday that for some patients she has them stay in the sling for 3 months and then start PT. I've learned every shoulder surgery is different. Hoping your son's recovery goes smoothly.

Waiting for DH to work me into his schedule for showering/dressing help. And he'll help me with PT.

Sadie, you made me think of a girlfriend here who had rotator cuff surgery a couple years ago. She was doing therapy locally and her shoulder was hurting a lot. She went up north to be with family and had therapy there was gentler and pain went away. They told her this place was having her do things that were too advanced for her progress. She is about back to normal now.

Harriet, loved the chicken coop pictures. Wondering just how that chest of drawers gets cleaned, maybe the top comes off? Loved that multi-level one.

Dee, your DD had her femur broken during her surgery? My goodness that is awful. I feel so bad for her. DH's bone became dead (the top part) and sooner or later he would have had to do something.

I love 7th Heaven. Was my favorite program for a long time!

Going in for my hour nap. Hope I can sleep.

Yeah, that was not part of plan by any means, Harmony, so it was a long recovery. That hip bone is so thin that they're not sure they can do surgery in the future -but things keep changing so I'm hoping for her. She's too young (because after all I'm only 50 -right? Not) Hoping Mr. Harmony has amazing healing -is he better pain wise today?

Just got back from a small grocery run and refilled the gas tank. Wal mart who is usually cheaper was 10-cents more than right at a nearby corner. Wanted to fill up before I get DS-A and family tomorrow. Plan to be there before 11am (check out time). Their flight isn't until 3:57 so not sure what we'll do with extra time. They may just decide to get lunch at the airport or something -or if they have meal plan (quick serve) meals left they may just go over to the restaurant on hotel property. Would be a shame to waste them if they have quite a few left. They usually would not get the meal plan but were given 35% off their room & Disney tickets and the meal plan was "free". The food on the meal plan is unbelievable. Way too much. They could all have high priced meals every day (4 of them). Plus a 'quick' meal (hamburger type, pizza, dessert, drink etc) and a snack. I'm talking meals going from $20 each to $40+ each.

Think I'll rest my leg for a bit. DD will be late getting home today.

Dh finally worked me into his schedule to help me shower and dressing, He had an unexpectedly busy day. After the hot shower he helped me do some PT. Worked with my wrist and forearm area as they are stiff from being in the sling so much.

Did light motion for shoulder and used the pulley.

Dson 18 is going cook dinner soon-- I hope--I'm hungry.

Sadie, I am so glad that your dh is able to help you shower and dress. Also, glad that he is involved in your at home PT. I have been meaning to tell you that I got a kick out of you getting a new stove after your dh and dss had to use your old one, right after your surgery.

I have never watched 7th Heaven and have always wanted to. Guess that can be my new obsession after I finish "Downton Abbey".

I fixed mini meatloaves and a new recipe for "C racker B arrel Hashbrown Casserole". Dh was skeptical but ended up thinking it was excellent.

Tomorrow I need to get that cleaning done at dd2s house that she is selling. I have a hair appt. at 2. It is suppose to be super windy on Thursday, so I plan to get my errands done, so I can stay in that day.

Interesting day.

We toured a rental building's premium apartment in the morning.

Pluses:

* Big, 2000 square feet
* View - the kind you don't want to turn your back on. 180* view of river, Gatineau Hills and parkland. Will get both sunrise and sunset but face north for the other direction. Can see Parliament Hill. May be able to see boats with a telescope.
* Perfect dining room
* Perfect place for the office
* Price - top end of my budget but everything except telephone and internet is included.
* Very good compromise on location - 15 minute walk through tree lined streets to grocery store and interesting shopping/dining area.
* two bedrooms area can be completely shut off from the main rooms (the other is on the opposite side of the apartment so perfect for guests.)
* It is a rental. They can't evict me unless I do something wrong (in a condo, if the unit is sold or the owner wants to move in, I'm out at the end of my lease whether I want to leave or not.)
* she'll hold the place until June 1 for us

Minuses:

* 50 year old building so not old enough to be charming, just old looking despite updated flooring and fresh coat of pain, updated cabinets in kitchen and bathroom.
* Radiators (and not the old charming kind, just ugly) which take up wall/floor space
* No swimming pool or exercise room
* kitchen needs work - not enough counter space, single sink (but we are allowed to pay to change this.)
* bathrooms are a challenge. No shortage (3) but all are minimal square footage, the kind you can't swing the door shut if you are sitting on the toilet. I don't believe in the excessive bathrooms that are all the rage these days but these could use 5 - 10 more square feet. The master bath will be fine if we remove the door.
* 22nd floor (but not a penthouse suite.) I was fine as long as I didn't look down. Not sure if I can live without looking down or not.

So that gave us a lot to think about.

Then we had our hair cuts. We were late so missed lunch at the chip wagon which was gone when we finished at the stylist.

Grabbed lunch from Subway and then had our appointment to see the fancy condo building that did have a view of boats.

It was a flop. The agent had not read my email and started by showing us 2 bedroom but no den places. Had not noted my need of a dining room. Finally he got permission to show us the unit I had inquired about. It was 3 stories (but in a building) and the living room dining room was too small for our dining table and living room couch (not to mention the recliners and buffet and tv stand, etc.

It was all blonde wood floors and cabinetry so my mahogany would not work.

There was an upstairs bedroom but no door at the top or bottom of the stairs. And no closet.

The lower level had another bedroom with no closet. And it was missing two bedrooms. Seriously, the listing had 3 bedrooms downstairs and 1 upstairs but we could not find the 2 bedrooms. There were two bathrooms on that level, which also made no sense (plus two more bathrooms, one on each of the other levels.)

The views were fine but the noise from the construction across the street (which is due to be there for the next 3 years at least) was bad.

So it wasn't even a candidate - I didn't take notes because I couldn't consider it.

We picked up dh's yoghurt drinks on the way home and chinese food for him. I had lasagna. Still need to clean up and run a load of laundry.

I have emailed 2 more places but they are both on the small side. One is floor 4, the other is floor 2. Nothing is showing up as available in the building we first picked last year.

Kathryn I really don't know what's up with some agents. I sent an R.E. agent in Niagara Falls an e mail about a beautiful century home right on Victoria Avenue and he never did respond. I finally called the real estate office. Sadly we found out that the house had asbestos. Darn. I told the agent that he should have responded because we are actively looking for a house in that area, and he was no longer on my list as it had taken far too long to respond.

Dinner is in the oven.

Dee, that's too bad about DD. Yes, DH's pain was less today. He wasn't desperate for relief and was only using the pump button now and then. Of course, moving it wasn't fun. Tomorrow they're removing a couple tubes and IV's; the pump disappears. Crossing my fingers.

The double light above his bed only works half, the bottom bright half that shines directly on his head. So, as he was wanting to sleep about 8:00 he said I should go home rather than sit in the dark. I hope he gets some rest, they'd had him up one more time while I was gone.

Two people have called with work, the kind of calls where they say, we need this done, we'll do whatever you tell us... go figure...NOW the phone starts to ring.

I'm going to hang out the load of towels I washed this morning and make up the bed with the clean linens. I had blankets in last night and I heard on the other side of the house a clink clink. Had to get out of bed, took phone with me down that hallway - it wasn't an intruder, it was plastic laundry soap cup bounced to the floor from vibrating washer... whew! This house is quiet with just me.

Going to make it an early night. I did manage to sleep 40 minutes this afternoon.
