Different kind of emergency here - dh cut his finger dicing onions. I picked up on it immediately, because he made a sound and stopped dicing. Told him to run under cold water until I was ready to dress it. Took me ages to figure out what we had left (dejunked when I packed up the bathroom http://www.shesorganized.net/phpbb/post ... =17&t=3735#

Dressed it once and it wasn't quite right so did it again and in between it hardly bled. Tried to get him to sit with his arm up but no luck with that. It is the back of the finger tip, not the pad, as he held the onion and was dicing down. Not sure if he'll be able to play for me this weekend.

I had picked up disposable gloves for hair dying so he's using one of those to protect the hand from moisture while he works. He refuses to stop cooking, I had to really push to get him to sit while I diced potatoes.

Oy vey we are home safely but it seems that a very big cloud with rain moved in over dh and dd's head - and yes, it is definitely related! I have been trying to stay clear of both of them and they've both left now - dh for bowling and dd to drive back to K-town.

This was really a nice trip so it's unfortunate that it's marred by all this getting home angst.

We had a pretty easy drive to Wash DC on Friday - checked into hotel around 6 p.m., hung out for a bit then researched and walked to a Chinese place nearby for our supper. Dh and I turned in really early.

On Sat, while Harriet was imagining us relaxing at the hotel we were up and at Holocaust museum by 10:30, including buy Metro Smart cards and getting introduced to the DC metro. We rode three stops, then transferred at the Metro Central station and went two more stops to the Smithsonian stop and found our way to the Holocaust museum. Our tour was at 11:45 so we looked at some exhibits first, then spent about 1.5 hrs going through the museum. Very powerful experience.

After the museum we walked on the mall, got food from food trucks, and dkids ditched us. Dh and I went to Museum of Natural History and saw some exhibits - the Hope diamond, the elephant in the lobby, an ocean exhibit and rested and had water and fruit in their cafe. We walked then almost to the Capital and saw the Grant monument, then walked back to Metro in a light rain. Was 3 p.m. by then and we went back to hotel, where kids had already landed. We had a short nap and down time, then out again.

The evening was awkward dinner with Z's mother and her family and boy friend. There were 17 of us including three of Z's college friends and this massive family group. She and family are big drinkers and arrived at restaurant quite late and already drinking. And.....Z's mom's boyfriend was the HS principal for dkids for their sophomore year and part of junior year for ds until principal was demoted and moved to another school for an issue unrelated to his romance with the school librarian, Z's mom. She then divorced Z's dad, who was a history teacher at the same school! The evening ended with Z's uncle and a cousin going outside to smoke pot, the whole group was pretty loaded and moving on to a bar. We took Metro back to hotel and turned in! (BTW, Z's mom was my BFF when dkids and Z were young - how things have changed! )

Graduation was at 9 a.m. Sunday at American University, which was three Metro stops up from us. We got there about 20 minutes before it started. Gwen Ifill from PBS was the commencement speaker and commencement took two hours almost on the nose. We met Z and his dad and dad's fiance' after graduation (Z's mom and BF came by for a quick photo and took off!) and eventually proceeded to the restaurant where Z waits tables for brunch. Dh was going to p/u the check for the group but Z had already given instructions that the ck came to him. Was a nice surprise - he is growing up!

I had wanted to go to the "Dead presidents" monuments on Sunday afternoon but we rested instead. Dh got a massage at the hotel and I had a nice afternoon nap. Z's dad was hosting dinner on Sunday evening at http://www.fogodechao.com/index.php?id=165 Fogo de Chao. Again we took the Metro - very nice and interesting dinner! There is a very large salad bar with side dishes, and when one is ready for meat there's a token that you turn to green and "gauchos" roving the restaurant bring cuts of meat straight off the fire and carve off what you want at the table. While eating or when satiated, the card is turned to red and the gauchos don't stop. Was a great variety of meats - bottom sirloin, top sirloin, fillet w or w/o bacon, flank steak, pork sausage, chicken wrapped in bacon, lamb, lots more. Then dessert and great conversation - a very nice evening.

Back at the hotel we slept well with full tummies, got up and left around 7:15 this morning.

(((((Harriet's dd))))) Migraines are miserable. I hope your dd gets well soon. My DH has a female cousin who is trying herbs & acupuncture for hers. She gets terrible ones. She's about age 54 1/2.

We're worn out. I had terrible indigestion, etc... in the wee a.m. hours, had to get up, worked on snail mail. Later, poor DH got up, so concerned that he'd snored too loud or when he'd taken his generic anti-gerd pill, how his stomach was gurgling & growling. He thought he'd woken me up. I told him I was ill. So he watched the last episode of "Game of Thrones," On Demand, I finished a letter, & we went back to bed at 3 a.m. I tossed & turned, slept a touch bit, then was up at 6 a.m. I napped a bit, lightly, while DH was getting wood cut/split. I did 2 lol, got them away.

Ddil said they all want to come Father's Day, DH said he's not paying $48 for 3 pizzas, so we'll have him cook up hot dogs, will serve salads, chips, & crackers. Perhaps melon & or cantaloupe will be good then, too. I bought "Frozen," with a gift card, so the little ones can watch that, on Father's Day, if we can get them to sit long enough.

With lack of sleep, the fibromyalgia pain's acting up, I got the gerd & had (past tense) IBS in the wee a.m. hours. I'm fine now, thank goodness, except for just a few aches & pains & being tired. Want to work on 2 letters. Got my thank you cards out today, + 3 other letters. It's so relaxing. Plan to brainstorm story ideas, read, & crochet this evening, while the Mariners play, too. I can't get over how sweet & NICE DH was to get up because he blamed himself for having woken me, he was worried & it just goes to show you how tender & unselfish & kind & loving of a dman he is. ♥ ♥ It made me feel so good when he did that. Yes, in a marriage, there are many ways to show the spirit of love to a mate. I was emailing Ddil about Father's Day plans, & DH had taken my underwear & socks, tank tops, & folded them for me, waiting for me on the sofa to put away. How nice of him & I know how tired he is, too, because I interrupted his sleep, too. He's in the shower for the 2nd time, I'm heading that way next, for my 1st s2s. I'd gotten d2s before, so I was dressed. It's beautiful here outdoors & about 76*, too. Lovely day.

My Monday was Magical when I realized how much DH loved me, by his wee a.m. concern. That was Magic, IMHO.

Kathryn~does your piano fit into the elevator at the apartment?

Sorry to hear that your restore doesn't do hazardous. Maybe they are afraid that they might find a politician crammed into a bin one day.

Just got home. My sister took sooooooooo much out of the house today. The contractors were there redoing the hanging ceiling in the basement today.

I finally finished CUOPing for the day.

Lucylee, your ds continues to impress me with his common sense. It makes perfect sense to let your dmom know that she needs to be able to handle routine trips out before planning an overnight trip.

Helia, I feel much like you do - that I can't keep up with regular routines. I'm still planning to have more time now that I don't have so much temple responsibilities. Here's hoping the threat of tornados has moved on through for you.

Ivy, that does sound like a magical Monday!

Oh, Harriet, hoping that dd's headache is better by now. What a awful day for her.

Kathryn, 7:15 here and I'm ready for bed - but I need to do some prep thinking ahead for tomorrow too.

Harmony, I'm so sorry for dFIL's passing, I don't think I had said so before we took off. Yes, you likely need recovery time all around! IKWYM about getting so worn out with things that used to be easy.

Cowinkie, your sunflowers are beautiful! Wishing I had room for them but I'm guarding my raised bed space. While away, a neighbor offered us a couple of squash plants so I'll need to get them out tomorrow.

What does tomorrow hold?
-dMacs needs to be at vet early for surgery, must take water up at bedtime. He really doesn't seem to feel great.
-I need to get ds to work and pick him up. Probably we will need to purchase a car for his use.
-I need to get my week on track. Last week T, W and TH rushed by with everything that had to be done. I need to regroup for this week after a lovely weekend away from reality.

I am feeling weepy and tired this evening and probably oversensitive. I did most of the 9 or so hours of driving today and was up this morning at 5:45. The issues with dh and dd really get to me. We really had a good trip until we hit home tonight.

Twins - What a packed weekend! Glad it went well. We have eaten at Fogo de Chao in Dallas and loved the experience. We tried to "sneak" the token to green without anyone seeking us, but they always did. Never did figure out how they knew.

I just finished going through LO's last Monday folder of this school year. It typically takes me about a hour to process the papers. Today there was about 40 pages of LO work that had been graded, a birthday party invite ( RSVP), summer reading program signup, another summer program, lunch account tally, the end of year Dibels test scores, and 5 school programs to attend between now and the end of school.

Dinner was brisket, mashed potatoes, corn and carrots. Kitchen has been cleaned up and coffee pot set up for tomorrow morning.

Cathy, the piano isn't coming with us, we'll load it on our truck but 'drop' it off at CM's house. Right from the beginning, 18 months ago, when we first realized they'd buy our house, I decided to leave the piano for her and let her know. Then I realized that even if they didn't get the house, I wanted her to have the piano. It has been in my family since it left the factory over 100 years ago, but my grandfather was also a church musician so I figure he'd be happy it went to her.

We'll should end up with more money for the house since we are selling it ourselves, so we've decided to move the piano to their home and they've found a couple of spots it will go nicely.

Dinner is done. Dh says the bandage isn't showing in more blood (it got a bit bloody while he insisted on cooking) but he's watching some you-tubes now. I have the hockey game on in the corner of the kitchen. I've cleaned up the dishes, have the crock pot out to remind me tomorrow morning to start dh's dinner and am going to work on Sunday's service next.

Howdy folks! I slept way too late (2 pm ), but have been studying since then. I took the quiz and did ok. Next up, I will eat some dinner, then take the real test that the interviewer sent me. While I was studying, another recruiter, that I have been trying to get hold of for a week called. I am to take their test and send them an updated resume. I told them, I could not take that today, because of the current test! It must be done tomorrow.

Here is the other stuff I really need to get around to, in order of importance: test, bills, health care, balance checkbook, hang LOL to dry, put away LOL, scanner, more job search stuff, general cleanup.

Bleah. What a list. Tomorrow, I will NOT sleep late, because I have an art class at 10 am.
