Nancy On Mother's Day there were 12 of us, DH got 3 pizzas and they cost $50! For Father's Day, DD is coming, so we're having crab cakes, mashed potatoes, seafood salad and another salad, which (at the moment) eludes me. It's a healthy little lunch. Are you making something special for Father's Day?

I just wrote my down's syndrome pen pal, who is an adult DD of a pen pal. They're both sweet. I tuck in desk calendar kitty cat photos and stickers for the DD. I'm happy I hear from her. I have a soft spot in my heart for down's syndrome people b/c I have 2 cousins with it, at our old church, there were several who came to attend services from a group home and one of DD's first jobs was as job developer for the adult disabled workers, with down's syndrome, too. In fact, I went there 1 day, to stay awhile with DD and also went to an open house there. They've closed it, several years go, so I've always wondered what happened to the adults. I don't know if there are other foundations for them now or something through DSHS for them or not. But ARC of WA State uses donations, to help them and other adults with ADD, etc.., too. This is why it makes me feel good to donate to ARC. They're doing a service project, as we'd say in Brownie Scouts.

My laundry's all done and I cleaned the office desk. I'm on letter #2 now. I don't know if I'll be able to finish all 4 next letters by bedtime, b/c it's 8 p.m. now. DH to vacuumed and he'll do toilets and kitchen in the a.m. I have a sore shoulder/wrist from 2-hours of housework/laundry/dishes from yesterday. He'll help me out. I dumped trash tonight. I'll relax, before DD arrives at noon - 1 p.m. and maybe crochet on the Christmas afghan for dgd-17.5 months.

I'm off to go shampoo in a nice hot shower. Have a Happy Father's Day, Everybody- for those who have fathers or kids. I don't have any Dad's anymore. All 3 passed away. 1 natural father and 2 step-dad's. BUT since DH is a father, we still have a special day. ♥

Just checking in to report that yes, today HAS actually been very soothing to me. DH went to Hardee's for our breakfast, and then I went back to bed to watch cowboy shows... my Saturday indulgence... and I slept through ALL of them! Woke up @ 2:00 pm when dniece called, wanting to compare thank-you card lists. She came over for a little while and we did that. Then I started in on my list and * TA-DA * they are all DONE now. Except one that I don't have an address for.

DH and I went over to dmil's house and retrieved our very nice extension cord, which had been in use for the hospital bed... and we went to CVS... and to Subway for supper...

And I have caught up with all the laundry. All that's left to do is get the sheets back on the bed. Oh -- just forgot -- I have one black skirt waiting in the washer now. THEN I will be finished. That will be nice, to leave home without having a bunch of laundry piled up when I return.

Twins -- I don't think ds's group has ever played the festival you're going to. Usually this weekend (Father's Day) has them at another place they go to almost every year.

Called dmom earlier this evening. She didn't answer and hasn't returned my call. * sigh * Once we get back from this trip, I have GOT to help her get her act together. This is just ridiculous. I was telling dfriend about it yesterday... and dfriend reminded me how dmom was writing checks in her hospital bed the morning of her back surgery. How the mighty have fallen... * sheesh * There has GOT to be some way to turn this around.

I am so embarrassed... For the first time in ds's life, I have not gotten dh a Father's Day gift. I do have a card for him, which is all he usually gets me. He always tells me to pick out something for myself. This year has been so hectic that I just haven't done ANYTHING (except the card) for him. However, DS/DDIL have a video, that I told them about (a Will Rogers movie he caught on tv one Saturday morning and loved) and a cute AU t-shirt that he will love. But we're not going to celebrate until we get home Wednesday, b/c ddil won't be with us.

That IS a long dance recital, Dee.

Wow, (((Kathryn))) for the cut finger and misc. injuries... PLUS the shower head!!! That WOULD be a problem... (((HUGS))) for Ken, too...

The golf show is on, it's relaxing b/c the announcers practically whisper gently during the broadcast and it's so nice.

I love to take my Sunday afternoon nap while dh watches golf.

I was surprised to hear about penguins in Hawaii, too!

Lucylee, DH and I were talking. We figured out I'd taken a 3 HOUR nap today, from 9 a.m. to 5 minutes before noon. I was surprised. But we girls need our beauty sleep, right?

When I gave DH his early Father's Day gift early, b/c I never GET him a gift, but give him this ridiculously over-sized Father's Day card to my Husband card every year, as a joke, he was so angry I'd gotten him a gift. I was hurt, he said later it wasn't the gift, but that I'd told him before the gift arrived that week, WHAT it was! So now, I don't know if I'll get him a gift next year or what. If I can keep my mouth shut, I WILL, gladly, because he's WORTH it. ♥ (I got him a book, called "The Closer," about and by/w/ a co-author, a retired as of 2013, closer pitcher from the NY Yankees.

I posted a yummy recipe at the SHE'S in the Kitchen recipes sub-forum called "Pumpkin Gingersnap Dessert," from my MIL's old recipe file box. It's done in layers. Sounds delicious. I'll make it someday. don't recall if I've ever eaten it before, when she was alive, as she passed in 2002.

I hope you're not too embarrassed for not getting DH a gift. Maybe a gag gift from around the house? Cell phone's ringing. Gotta go!

Aww, I'm not really embarrassed, Ivy, b/c dh and I don't do big gifts ever, except at Christmas. He always goes overboard w/Christmas shopping -- he wants a very specific LIST from me, but I have to be careful. I can't make a list of suggestions and tell him to surprise me, b/c if it's on the list, he will move Heaven and earth trying to find it.
OTOH, anniversaries, mother's day, and birthdays, I'm generally on my own -- he will just tell me to go shopping and pick out something I like, b/c he is so afraid of getting me something I won't like.
