Hello, villagers ~
Checking in.
This morning at 9 I had a meeting at the library with the other LEGO Club volunteer. I hoped it would only take an hour, but she was running late and also did not finish what she said she was going to do. :| So ... I finished her part of the prep, then finished the rest of getting ready for tomorrow's meeting, and it took a little over 2 hours. :(

Before the meeting, I exercised and then washed my hair. I had fast food for lunch, which I am rather regretting now but I was afraid that if I came home for lunch, I wouldn't feel like going out again, and we desperately needed some groceries.

I am so happy with Aldi grocery store this week. :D While I was eating lunch, I went through a recipe book of different types of summer salads. I made a list of ingredients to try to find, and wrote down more than enough because I didn't think I'd have any luck finding a lot of them. Whoa, Aldi had almost everything! (They did not have fresh basil or balsamic vinegar, but I can cope without them.) They had lots of new products, too, including mini cucumbers, a different kind of tomato, fresh tortellini, fresh mozzarella, and lots of other yummy things that will be quick to fix. I almost decided not to drive that far for groceries, but I'm glad I did because I know that Tiny Town Store would not have had any of the extras on my new salad list.

I have time to cook this evening, so I will do an easy skillet casserole that DH likes. Tomorrow because of LEGO CLub in the afternoon, I'll make a caprese salad in the morning to be ready whenever we both get home. Or maybe I'll do the BLT salad from the cookbook, I'll see which sounds better in the morning.

DMom was supposed to be moved to another floor in the hospital today. I'm waiting for a text from DSis with her new room number and phone number.
Hi, Dove, thanks for the hug!

I'm tempted to take a nap, but I'm going to try to power through. Maybe if I have a big glass of ice cold tea while I wash dishes, that will help.

Hello Dear Ladies,

Cloudy here, maybe rain?

Another day of working at this house. Today I vacuumed this house thoroughly. Then I cleaned the laundry room and the bathrooms. When DH came in for lunch, I told him the cook never showed up today, just the cleaning lady did and offered him a TV Dinner for his lunch.

No Ivy, I still can't tie an apron. I can get my left hand back far enough now so that the fingers on both hands just barely touch. I know my right arm is going way over to do this but considering before I couldn't get my left arm/hand beyond the side seam of my jeans, this is progress. trying really hard to get my arm to bend up behind me. Our arms and shoulders do so much without us even thinking about it, Until you can't do it.

Yes finally heard from Dson-18 heart doc. Insurance okayed procedure and it is scheduled for July 28th and 6 o'clock in the morning. Praying all goes fine.

Going reward myself and read a bit.

Then time to make dinner.

Ds spent ages at the hospital (I was in the 10 minute pick-up parking spot so aware of the time!) but reports that he has shifts starting next week but a possible one on Sunday night. He only told one department he was coming back (he had a part time and casual position when he left and was bumped down to casual for both of them so he could take the leave of absence.) The other department has had one retiree, and two go out on medical leave and one on a leave of absence, all in the last few weeks so they are desperate for him to be back, and taking shifts.

From there we had lunch at IKEA, then picked up my clear diet stuff plus soup for him (if he's got a night shift) and then looked for a 7-11 so he could pick up a cell phone but didn't find it. Turns out there are none in Ottawa so he has to order it online and await delivery. This could mean he has to go to a more expensive option. In the meantime, I'm considering getting one too so that I can have a data plan on my phone.

I'm elevating my foot now and might have a nap as well. Ds is napping now.

Poured like crazy here for a while. Had .34" yesterday and had .28 early morning hours, then it came about 45 minutes ago in earnest. It's now at 1.42" for today so far. Big test is that there is no water standing in our back. YAY!!! Last summer was big time flooding here. Well, not the type flooding too many have to deal with. Dh wants to go out to dinner. The sky is somewhat streaked right now and a little sunny. Sure we have more to come. But dh is thinking that maybe he can go get a quick shower.

Spent a lot of time this afternoon making reservations at a hotel and at Sight & Sound theater in Lancaster, PA. Couldn't get seats we really wanted but these aren't too bad -she says hopefully! I just can't climb the steps to those upper levels. Right now I think we're on the 3rd row of the upper level. Think I can manage that few steps. This upper section is extremely steep and we sat near the top last year. Not good for me! We were having a difficult time finding a time we could go. Decided to go BEFORE our anniversary and "Christmas in July" here. Works out pretty well for us. Going to see "Moses". This is either the 3rd or 4th show we've seen there. Shows are stupendous!

I left my post I was doing, to watch the kitties moving together in unison, and I lost the post! It's the first time it's happened to me! I'll try to remember everything I talked about!

I got #10 done (put away groceries) when DH and Dgs got home, which was on my 10 x 5 list. Yeah! :P DH bought me a notebook for my journal exercise, so I can date pages ahead from Sept. 24, onward. Sept. through Nov. are busy (for me/us) because of my Dr. appt.'s, procedures, and tests. Also, DH will be taking drug study classes for his diabetes and have appt.'s for that. I'll be writing and crocheting gifts for Christmas, too.

Sadie, You sound like you're slowly making it to the apron-tying stage. Congrats and best wishes about the insurance approval for Dson-18's procedure, too. What date is it again? I forgot. :?:

Dee, Nope, you don't "want/need" summertime flooding in back. Good news so far now, how you didn't get it. :D

Booksaver, So sorry that meeting seemed to go on forever. I hate it when I feel "trapped" like that, when there's nothing to do, but just wait it out. It's very frustrating and tiring, too. :!:

LadyM and LO, I hope you both get a very good nap in, too. :D :D

Kathryn, I hope your Dson gets a cell phone soon and enjoys his job at the hospital. Good he's taking a nap and you're elevating, too. :D :D

Waving to Dove, Nancy and all you others- you KNOW who you are. I must get going and work on my calendar now. I go the laundry done, 2 loads, too.

Back from the nursing home thing (ds/dh/dfriend sing there once a month). DH has "hit the wall" so to speak, and has fallen asleep on the couch... I have waaay overdone it on sweets and could use a nap myself... and dgs is alternately playing and protesting his time in the pack-n-play. I wish he would take a nap. He came home with us b/c ds is going to local tv station w/gospel group tonight, and ddil has decided she will start singing in the church choir, and they have practice tonight. I'm really proud of her for taking this step to get more involved at church... but you know how it goes... every extra involvement THEY take on means extra babysitting time for us, LOL. But it's okay. I'm exhausted right now, and we'll have him again for most of tomorrow... but I wouldn't change a thing. I am sooo sooo blessed that they live close by, and I am enjoying watching him grow up sooo sooo much. He really is a good baby -- toddler, I guess is the more correct word now!

Did any of y'all see my post from late last night?
Dmom cancelled her doctor's appt today -- partly b/c it was RAINING. Good grief. But in her defense, she said it was "coming a FLOOD" at her house when she was getting ready to go, so she called the doctor's office to see if he was running on time and she found out he had been called to the hospital for emergency surgery, apparently, and they really did not know WHEN he would return to the office. This is not unusual -- he is MUCH in demand and the nature of his specialty (gastro-internist? I don't know the word I'm looking for) means sometimes things do happen unexpectedly. So... she rescheduled for next week.
Also, she told me ANOTHER friend, who also attends the new church, had called her this morning "just to see how she was doing, b/c she'd been on their prayer list for a while..." (This was a male friend, long-time mutual friend of hers and my ddad's. He is in his second marriage now, but used to be married to one of dmom's best friends.)
I did not tell her about the lady who called last night. * sigh * Please, if you have time, look back and see if y'all think I said too much or if I sounded too negative re: dmom.
I wish she COULD get her life back together so people would quit worrying about her and so I could quit worrying about her!
Last night she was also talking about taking a train trip with me from Savannah to Williamsburg.
I would love to make that trip, but not alone w/dmom... good gracious... * sigh *

Back from a part run. MPB has another leak.... I do hope we are nearing the end of this life style. DH has finally agreed to put MPB up for sale. Getting him to this point has been a long process..... after months of encouragement from me.

LucyLee - I think you should tell your DMom about her DFriend calling you. Otherwise, it might appear you are hiding something from her. I do not think you have anything to worry about your conversation with friend. Just 2 people who loves your DMom and want the best for her.

So far just able to CUOP and answer from last night

lucylee, that doesn't sound wrong. You probably handled things correctly. None of the health things you mentioned were big secrets, I doubt. You might want to confide in your mother in a straightforward manner that you happened to chat with Mary and you suspect Mary and John want to come by to see her, so don't be surprised. I'm glad you reminded the lady that there are so many ties for your dmother to the old church. When a church splits people can't help but see the good in their own situation and want to share, so you do get a lot of inviting and suggesting - don't know if that can be avoided.

Yes, I do think it's important not to break confidence IF a parent isn't telling just everyone about health. My family's a cautionary tale for sure. I had to get defensive a little regarding my parents. I'm sure you haven't really had to do that. Your dmother is doing fine. One cousin's wife just jabbered on and on to a large group about the ONE time she had bothered to see my ddad in the last TEN years of his life (and the occasion was because he was sick) as if those minutes of her visit defined his abilities and made her an authority on "his condition". I had to correct her clearly at that time, and still wonder to whom she had made this speech previously. :( So do beware of gossips. Otherwise, most people are genuine, and care honestly.

BookSaver, your post about your dmother last night was one that made me smile. I know you are so relieved that things are moving so positively.

Not being southern, I wasn't sure what to say to Lucylee but I'll echo LM and say she should mention it to her mom. Now she has an entry line - "I think those folks at that church are really hoping for a visit soon, I had so-and-so call me to ask if you were ready to be going out and you got a call from that gent. How about we swing round and take you on Sunday morning this week" (or better yet, to a social event.)

Dinner is done. I napped a bit. We woke up ds so he wouldn't sleep too much. Seems odd to get him onto this time zone and then send him to work the night shift!

I'm going to go through a box of papers that was part of a stash and dash.

My tummy is upset from too much fat today. I had fries and a cinnamon roll at lunch and then fried potatoes with dinner. Too much and I'm feeling ill now.
