Regarding Helia's very interesting posts, does anyone remember when Kathryn said a long time ago that she and Ken had worn Maple Leafs on their wraps because most would think they were American until they say the Maple Leafs? (Because we are hated by many Europeans! I have to laugh at that when we all remember from history who saved their B---s in WW2. They would all be speaking German if it wasn't for us, the Canadians and the English.)

Anyway , Helia I am loving your sharing about your trip. Thank you! I so want to see the Amalfi Coast. We are too old now to venture out on a long trip overseas. Sweden was our one and only long trip. We can do Hawaii but that is about it. Several summers ago I googled Amalfi Coast and looked at all the apartments for rent along the coast and imagined renting one for a month or two. Never happened, but imagined how wonderful it would be.

I had a really great surprise last night. There was a knock at the door and lo and behold there stood G----, my former nail and pedi girl who became a good friend. I suffered with her when her no good ex cheated on her. They had been married 20 years. She was so devastated. Long story short she met a wonderful man (a Texan) who was just retiring from a very good government job he had held for over 39 years. They married this last January and she moved to the District. She is sooo happy and so am I. :D Because ..... they are buying a place here in our Park where they will live summers and then winters in his home state of Texas. She is very dear to me and it was hard to see her leave last year. Her Mom lives across the street from me and now we are all very excited and happy. When God closes a door he will always open another one.

I have Mammo in an hour and Mr. Guy will be across the hall in PT. Things are going good for him. :D

:D Whew! I finished everything on my to do list for today! I edited the list on page 2 of PWYC for today, and even sent out two stories today. I'm worn out now. DH has PBS concert music on TV, so I'm going to rest and listen for awhile, taking it easy.

I need to clean up my office and only have 1 letter to reply to and only 1 email to reply to. So that's nice. I'm glad I dumped trash when I did because DH ran the garbage can to the curb when he got back from the woods. He worked 4 hours. I did, too, but then added 2 - 3 hours after that, so I got in a good writing session today.

Have a great afternoon and evening, Everybody! :D This is just a quick C. I.

We biked over to the beach cafe for dinner but it was closed. Apparently there was a problem with the power and so it was closed until rectified. So we biked up to the main restaurant (the cafe is just a satellite location) and had dinner there. Bigger menu, same prices, sit down service and we chose inside which turned out to be a good idea since it ended up raining for about 15 minutes.

Ds left early because he had to go pick up his sister to take her rock climbing with him. Since the rain had stopped, dh and I biked around the neighbourhood a bit, taking note of access to the bike paths and the architecture. It was a poor neighbourhood at one point and now is being gentrified. It is known as Westboro Beach and while most homes don't have views of the water, there are a lot of beach style homes going in so I'm anxious to show them to ds who fell in love with this style of architecture in Sydney. Ds is keeping his bike here since the paths are so great around here.

I've left my bike in the living room (there's more than enough room now that there aren't piles of boxes everywhere.) We aren't expecting anyone over and I'll be more likely to take it out in the morning if I don't have to take it off the balcony first. The patio door is narrow so that's tricky. I can see through the window I have to go out and bring in ds's helmet since it is loosely hung over his handle bars. It can get really windy out there so we store loose things like that in the deck box.

When we got back we took the recycle down and dh checked out the open cooled shelves at the tuck shop for a dessert. He didn't see what he was looking for (baclava) but then Achmed called out as dh turned to leave - "My friend, here is a dessert." Dh hadn't said that was what he was looking for but it was exactly what he wanted. He bought that, and I had an ice cream confection. I also noted there is an apartment contents sale coming up on Friday that includes custom blinds. We may have hit pay dirt.

Tomorrow is the funeral at 11, followed by family and friends reception back at the house at 2. At 5 is the apartment building summer bbq (and our chance to join the residents association.) And we are thinking of going to a movie tomorrow night. So a full day.

I sit intently with my eyes glued to my laptop screen, as I edit a short story so carefully. I notice that my lips are dry. I need my lip balm from my right desk drawer. My gaze continues as I edit. I pull the drawer out. I'm still looking at the screen. Edit. Edit. My right hand reaches into the drawer, without my looking inside. After all, I'm busy editing. My fingers blindly find my lip balm in it's tube, I'm editing, as I slowly bring my lip balm to my lips. I pause from editing, to remove my lip balm lid. All of a sudden, I look at what's in my fingers! :o  YELLOW HIGHLIGHTER PEN! Can't have yellow lips now, can I? I sure had a laugh, promptly returned my highlighter pen to the drawer and this time, I looked and got my lip balm! :!: It made me laugh at myself today.

DH was playing music on the TV Radio, but he started snoring so loud, I had to retreat to my side of the bed, where my cat lay sleeping. I took about a 1-hour nap, waking to a claw piercing my left thigh, because my cat was trying to crawl under my blanket, I'd thrown on top of me. I finally freed her claw from my dress and she ran off, after I scolded her. Poor baby, but it's a shocking way to wake up with something sharp piercing you soft thigh.

I wrote out tomorrow's list, have writing set up to do, will try to crochet a few Grannies tomorrow and read on my Jennifer Weiner book 'All Fall Down,' some more. She's sure a great writer. She's very descriptive and you feel like you're right there in the story with her. It's fiction, of course, but she makes it come to life so well! :P

I can't believe tomorrow's Thursday. DH is going to take our sedan into the garage because they couldn't find the mouse bed in the car, merely changed the filter, and now when you get in the car? It smells like dead fish or urine or pooh, from mice. They must still be in there. DH is a bit irritated because they should have done it right the last time he was in for an oil change, etc... He said, "It's probably going to cost me at least $50 to get that mouse bed out of there."

FFriend, in fairness to the guys, the mice are very good at being mice, and figure out how to make a hidden bed. What? You don't want distinctive lip color? :)

Kathryn
is already biking again - that's great.

One wall of the LR is redecorated. Most of exercise done. Actually I'm taking a break from that now.

FF: it is nice to see you are so intently in 'the zone.' I kind of like it when I'm 'one' with my computer, creating.

Got the service pulled together. There's still a lot of work to do but the hymns have been chosen, a sermon title assigned and the prayers we'll pray together have been written and sent to the church secretary. A whole day early.

Also spent an hour on the phone with my music friend. Sounds like our churches will be well represented at the funeral tomorrow. Dh isn't coming so I'm glad I'll be there with lots of friends. Also found out that the reception at the home after is fully catered so I don't need to worry about bringing anything. Yay! I'll wait until a week or so and then send over some food once they've eaten up all the leftovers and donations from others.

Off to do stretches now. I'm bound and determined to get better and that means doing all kinds of things to be good to myself. Will have a glass of water now too. Haven't had enough of that today.

Finished vacuuming, put away third load of laundry.

DS & DGS did not leave until after midnight, and dgs was still going full blast. Did not want to leave. I am exhausted. Good gracious... I love that little boy more than words can express... but whew... Nana is exhausted.
