Laundry is all sorted and first load is in the washer. I'm doing my clothes first. <insert rant> DH has several clothing pieces thrown on the floor in his bathroom, which I am going to leave tonight. My rule is that I only wash what he puts in a hamper. I only pick up something from the floor if I need a piece to fill a load. There are 2 hampers inside the bathroom, plus 3 more hampers just outside the bathroom door, as well as a hamper up in our bedroom I don't expect him to sort his laundry, and I wash/dry/fold/hang it all for him, so I insist that the least he can do is get his clothes into 1 of the 6 hampers, and I don't care which one! <end rant>

Did I report on Friday night's library party? I don't see a post about it. Well, obviously I did not win the pizza grand prize, because certainly I would have told y'all about that. I told them I would work wherever they needed me, and they asked me to do the temporary tattoos. I still have most of the one on my hand, which is a cute little robot reading a book. I didn't hear a count for the evening, but I thought it looked like a good crowd.

I did a full exercise workout before lunch, thus I am feeling quite virtuous today. Is there a Smilie with a halo?

RIP James Garner. I always enjoyed his work. I wonder if The Rockford Files series is on DVD yet? I think that would be a good one for the library to have in their collection. Did you know that he did all of his own stunt driving?

I was planning to take some clear plastic jars to the library to use for storing tiny LEGO pieces, but now I'm not so sure. They had mixed nuts in them but not peanuts. However, I know there are more kids these days who are also allergic to other kinds of nuts than peanuts. Would washing the plastic jars several times with dish soap make them safe to use? Do I have to bleach them? I can find other plastic jars, but I like these because they are clear, square, and the lids screw on, so they would be efficient storage.

Bookie - it looks like cleaning them well will remove all trace of nuts. Weird about soap not working though! Clean nute Residue

Re-election picnic was okay. Not well attended (maybe 50 people?). It was HOT so I only stayed an hour then came home and crashed.
I'm trying to gear myself up to get started on the week. I'm in kick-back mode and I DoNotWanna

Dinner was wonderful (dh cooked) and then we raced over to the hospital to visit the senior. Ds called his hospital and she wasn't there so I called the 2 campus, central hospital and she was at the campus just 5 minutes away. Total time from the apartment was 35 minutes because ds came with us and sat at the side of the road with the car after dropping us off.

She was in great spirits and no pain. Since we had been told by other residents that it was a possible broken hip we were confused. Turns out the fall wasn't from missing the chair but from fainting. So she never had hip pain and that's why it took a day for her son to convince her to go to the hospital.

We'll go back and visit over the week but glad we saw her today. Never put off until tomorrow.... (and I would have felt awful if we had and something happened to her.)

Now to do up the dishes for dh since he cooked me such a great dinner.

Elizabeth, Can you work in a lab?

My natural father was a physicist and he worked in a lab in Berkeley (sp?), CA. He did that all his life, after graduating from college, with occasional other jobs. But he did most of his career in the lab there. I wondered if you could be a medical journalist? My testing, when I was a Senior in H. S., said I'd be a good medical journalist. I got the love of science and writing from my father. I never pursued college, except for summer school, to try it out, got married instead, raised 2 kids, but when I was 54, I decided to do freelance writing. So I'm doing part of what my aptitude test said to do, which was write, but it's not in the medical journalism field. Just short stories, essays and poems. I guess there's a "science" to that, in a way.

I noticed today, how our local TV news, from Seattle, on the E. WA State fires, is more accurate, with more up-to-date information, than what's on the National news. At last count, on local TV, over 200 homes have burned, National TV news said over 150 homes have burned, but hey! Over 150 homes still IS close enough. Also, we heard that all 5 fires have converged into one single fire and over 400,000 acres have burned total. The Nat'l news' total was less. I guess the smoke and air quality's affected over into Northern Idaho, too. On the morning news, they were talking about something, referring to the fire and I got an excellent title and plot idea for a June story, for 2015, concerning a wildfire and dfamily. I can write on it, currently, as it's happening, then submit it next year, sometime. The news is an excellent source for true stories, which often times goes into the magazine "True Story." I love the news anyway, but now I love it even more, because it helps me sell stories.

Dgs-14 took a nap, I took a nap, he's such a good young man, so polite, easy to talk to, has a sense of humor, and I'm loving him staying with us. I showed him a butterfly mounted onto a Granny square, for his baby sister's Christmas afghan and he was even interested in that.

DH fixed spaghetti and garlic bread for himself and Dgs, but I can't have that because of the acidity in the sauce and the spices in the garlic and sauce, since I have Gastritis. I'll eat a microwave dinner, when I get hungry, so I'm not munching all night. Need to see the Dr. this week, get weighed in, so want to "be good."

Walked 30 minutes, talking to DD on our cell phone, too. I also entered the Cedar Cove contest again, at the Hallmark's Cedar Cove site, took a magazine survey, but since I work for a magazine, they wouldn't allow me to take the survey. However, they DID allow me to enter the contest drawing. Later, I wrote an email comment to the magazine, telling why I enjoyed this particular issue, "The Good Life," by Dr. Oz, and then I wrote a question to ask the Dr. I bet he'll use it, in his column, because it talks about Gastritis-friendly foods, de-stressing to calm nerves/anxiety/stress, so there's less Gastritis, and I feel readers would be interested because a LOT of people get it.

We'll get up about 7 a.m. tomorrow because the weather's cooler, so the guys get wood from 9 a.m. - noon or 1 p.m. instead of at 8 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., or noon. I'll get my shower before bedtime. It helps me sleep better. I wrote tomorrow's "to do" list out, made calendar reminders, and will continue to crochet on Granny squares.

LadyM, It's too bad no more turned out at the election picnic than that.

I finished it! My goal for tonight was to do one appraisal method, but once I got started I just keep going. Figures for three different appraisal methods have been gathered & spreadsheets developed. There is such a huge different between the different appraisal methods (almost $1M!!!) We have several interested buyers waiting on us to establish a selling price for MPB. The price must be backed up by appraisal. Finding & hiring a licensed appraisal person qualified to do our type of business will be #1 priority this week.

It is waaaay past LO bedtime. Sweet Dreams.

Napped for quite a good while. Had a LOT of trouble sleeping last night -- I didn't feel particularly nervous about the issues that arose during the day Saturday, but still, my mind wouldn't turn off.
But -- after my nap -- I got in gear and *** drum roll ***
* helped dh finish unloading the dishwasher
* washed dishes in the sink
* watered plants
* helped dh get the garbage to the road
* wrote check for weekly paper man
* transferred pics to computer, backup drive, and Walmart
* typed meeting notes and emailed to church secretary
* laid out vitamins/calcium/etc for the week
* took allergy shots
* went out to eat w/ds & dgs -- ddil was going to bed EXTRA early b/c tomorrow she starts a MONTH of 4:00 a.m. duty!
* saw d(x)sisil as we were both driving across parking lot at Dairy Queen, and she called to say hello -- AND I found out she would be VERY interested in buying ds's truck from dmom, once their transactions are complete. So that was GREAT news!
* went to bank
* went to convenience store to get enough necessities to get us through till next Monday's big grocery trip
* home, called dmom (twice) but no answer. Left message to call me or I would have to come looking for her.
* did an online survey at pastor's request of all congregation this morning. It says my spiritual gifts are Faith, Wisdom, and Knowledge. Pastor wants us all to take and email results to her/nominating committee. I don't want to send mine in b/c I'm scared they will want me to teach Sunday School, and I just cannot make that time committment right now.

DH already has our clothes packed for tomorrow. Just have to get toiletries together in the morning.

Still need to write two thank you notes, memorials to dmil to our church, which secretary gave me this morning.

OH -- let's play Tell Me What I Said Wrong.
We were checking out at that 7-11 store, and there were lines at both cash registers, and dh and I both had all we could hold in our hands.
When I got to the counter, where the clerk was a former student of mine, I said, "We should have gone to the grocery store..." in what I meant to be a sort of apologetic way, b/c we had so much, and they were busy, you know, and I was kinda embarrassed that we had so much...
And MY comment embarrassed DH! He said he had "never in (his) life seen someone apologize for doing business with someone."
Good grief. So that made me feel stupid, and I thought maybe he was right -- did it sound like I was SORRY I had chosen to shop there? Good grief.
It's no wonder I'm crazy. I am surrounded by insanity. I mean -- maybe it did sound that way, but OTOH, maybe dh is a nut, too, for taking it that way.
How does that comment sound to y'all?

FF -- how close are the fires to Seattle? DH has two cousins who live there.

So glad you saw your friend, Kathryn, and glad ds could do car-duty while you were visiting. At big hospital in our area, parking is a major inconvenience, so having someone sit & wait is a HUGE help!

I don't blame you for the rant, BookSaver! Sounds just like my late ddad.
That is one problem I do not have w/dh... he hangs dirty clothes on a rack beside our bathroom door, sorts underwear into separate basket. He washes and puts away ALL his underwear and ALL bath towels. He does this on his own schedule, which drives me crazy... but he does it. I wash his clothes, hang them on drying rack in laundry room, and he puts them on ironing board when they are dry. I iron, he puts in closet.
So -- he's insane in a lot of ways... but he can be helpful.
He also loads and unloads dishwasher -- except tonight I did help by unloading silverware.

(((Elizabeth))) Ooohhh... IKWYM about the car! When I was in high school, I drove my grandparents' car one summer -- I was working a summer job and we had no extra car, and dgparents didn't need theirs. It had that same problem -- light would come on and I'd have to stop and add water. It was never a huge problem, but sooo annoying. Also, I was really, REALLY "cool" in that car... (NOT). PIcture it... 16 years old, driving a several years old four-door faded blue Pontiac Bonneville. It was like a TANK.
(It was much better when I got to drive the family car; my parents drove a Monte Carlo by then.)

One other thing I would like to share. We saw movie last night -- Persecution. It is not getting a lot of media attention, so far as I know, but it was a pretty good movie. Kinda a Christian drama -- a pastor is falsely accused of murder -- and it is definitely from a pro-Christian, politically Conservative point of view -- but it was very interesting and certainly held our attention, thinking, "Okay, so now what's he going to do... how's he going to get past THAT situation...?" BUT... I have to tell you, the ending was sorta... hmmm... well, left you hanging a bit. Go see it so we can talk about it!

I cannot get any weather or news about the fires.
My eye was bothering me this morning but better as the day went on. Smoke dirt and getting water in it in the shower not good. So I didnot do close work or watch tv and doing yd wk card was up.

Did our date and got groceries and got rx refill request put in. So glad I got the counters cleared off first.
