Harriet, I think I would be concerned about the mixed grades, also. I guess there’s nothing that can be done about it, short of changing schools, but it doesn’t sound like a good situation. OTOH, as my dmom says, sometimes what we think is the WORST thing, turns out to be the BEST thing that could possibly happen. So maybe it will all turn out for the best…

Other than the crisis w/dmom's wallet, I probably should put the rest of this in J&C... * sigh * Partly dmom stuff... partly just me being me (crazy).
It has been a busy day, though. Got up and went to cattlemen's steak sandwich sale. Then ds and dgs came over, ds ran, they stayed and stayed... THEN I talked to dmom and got nervous... tried to take a nap and just kept having cold chills... got up, took some Z ofran for nausea... went to steak house for my birthday dinner w/dmom (who didn't eat anything, just had a cup of coffee b/c she said she'd had too much lunch and wouldn't sleep if she ate)... everyone came back to our house for lemon cake dmom had made... everyone left... dcousin called to make plans for Sunday... then dmom called w/all the chaos about her wallet. * whew * I am exhausted and still kinda frazzled.

Posting w/o cuop since previous attempts to read first were interrupted ....

Yesterday's round of errands was an exercise in futility and a lot of wasted miles on the car.

Today made up for it, though. I had a long lunch with a friend, and then met a different friend for a long chat. I hadn't seen either of these good friends for a couple months, as our schedules were so different all summer. Lots of laughs and great conversations.

DH and I don't have any solid plans for this holiday weekend.

Technically it isn't Friday any more but I'm just off to bed now and wanted to post.

It was a lovely dinner. We didn't eat on the balcony (dfs is afraid of heights so ds didn't even bring the card table over.) Dd came, and the Third Amigo so I had all three boys here (for newbies to this site, when ds was 17, we had a foster son join us for 6 months (until ready for college) and another friend of ds's ended up moving into the house and I got him a job painting the church basement because he was having a rough time at home that summer. I also financed his college application and made sure it was in on time (he's now the father of the twins and has been married 2 years, dfs has been married 15 months and now owns a house.)

TGF gave us a lovely card and gift thanking us. She is a wrapping ninja so the paper was as nice as the gift. And reversible so ds's present were wrapped in the 'same' paper but looked different. She is a professional wrapper (it is on her resume!)

We sent everyone on their way. TA is driving ds and TGF to the airport so we are off the hook for that. Dfs has to work tomorrow so he and dd left first (she was off to listen to a band play at a club.) Dsil would have come but thought it was going to be a bigger party with people he didn't know, not a family party (although he doesn't know TA or dfs' wife, he joined the family the same time dfs did.)

Dh did most of the clean up. The dishwasher just stopped running, so I'll open it up so thing will air dry. And collapse into bed.

Edited to add: I have a friend coming for dinner on Monday and dh has a friend coming for lunch on Wednesday so we are entertaining a lot more here. That makes sense, it doesn't seem like a far drive to here if you are already in the city, unlike when we were in the village.
