That poor pup! You are a good neighbour, RR.
I biked over to the outdoor lifestyle store (one of three in our neighbourhood) and failed to get a coat. As I suspect, while they fit in the shoulders and tum, they didn't get around my hips.
I've been looking online but I have a specific style I want (in order to get rid of at least three coats) and they don't appear to make them in plus sizes. Not sure if they assume plus size people aren't active or if they are too 'hot' to need a coat. I know, when I'm at my goal weight I feel a lot colder and that my morbidly obese friend seldom has more than a vest on in the winter.
Will have a look at thrift stores in the next while. This coat-shopping is going to need to be my full-time job over the next while.

Good rescue, RR!
Congratulations to Helia's DD. Know that's a huge load off you. Will be praying for nothing but safety and smooth roads for her. That sounds like a lot of trips out.
I made a trip about 24 miles away to W mart for a few things -figured I'd enjoy the AC in the car and the store. So I (foolishly) did not turn on the AC here before I left. Needless to say -it's ON now -it was 90 in here when I got back. But tomorrow I think the high is 70 so will be cooling down this evening I think. Turned it on in the bedroom too so it will be cooled by the time we remake the bed.
Not going to do anything in here until it cools a little -I did put away all the groceries. There was a nice breeze earlier and I was going to sit on the deck in that and fold the towels/wash cloths. Not now. Usually fold as I take them out of the dryer but knew dh would very soon be coming for lunch. So folded the pillow cases and a couple of tops and just put the rest of the sheets and towels in my baskets. At least they won't be terribly wrinkled.
Dh happened by right after I pulled in so helped me bring in the groceries. He also suggested CEREAL for dinner. I'm in!

No cooking tonight. Plus I also have some leftovers from our steak dinner on Tuesday night that I could have if I want. Or I can have C heerios with dh.

Our windows on one side of the apartment are getting well cleaned right now. Major storm. This is the biggest since we were here and the lightening was something else as it came upon us.
I'll post a pic in MO so you can see the weird clouds before the rain drove me off the balcony (and good thing it did because the lightening ramped up dramatically once the rain started. At this moment, we can't see a thing outside and it feels like we are INSIDE the storm cloud. Cool and scary simultaneously.

Kathryn - I enjoy the sight of your storm I LOVE STORMS!! The energy is refreshing as the rain.
At least I think it is.......it has been so long since we received a good storm I have kinda forgotten what it is like.

Speaking of storm/water/moisture. We are back into the worst drought status. Which means we are back under the burn bans (no fires outside). And for the first time ever, our big town (and military base) went to Stage 3 water restriction. The lake that supply their water is below 50% .....this is the lowest it has ever been.
Tonight the Friday Night Gang (FNG) meets at our house. Need to move the furniture and get set up for them. Not much cleaning needs to be done, but just get things moved around. It is a bittersweet time because one of our FNG members received some bad news from his doctor this week - three months is the doctor educated guess how long DFriend has to live. (cancer). I've known this DFriend all of my life - we were next door neighbors when I was growing up. This could be his last time being in our home. Cancer sucks.
Time for LO to arrive home from school. *POOF*

Oh, poor pup! You are a very kind friend, RR. I do remember once pulling some spines out of a child who fell in our prickly pear when we lived in Texas. Some were so fine, they were really hard to see. It's a nasty job. I wonder if the pup knew you were helping her so she didn't bite?
I agree, LadyM. It does suck. Tomorrow, we are probably going to the memorial service of a man who used to go to our church before moving with his family to Chicago about 5+ years ago. He battled stomach cancer before he moved , and I guess it came back b/c he has just recently died of cancer. He wasn't even that much older than us; his kids were maybe 8 - years older than ours. His wife decided to have the memorial service here for some reason.
Yes, Dee, it will be a big help to have dd16 driving herself around. Yes, now we get to pray for safety on the roads. She's still not a stellar driver, imho. But she IS calm and not overly aggressive.
It was 93* here 10 minutes ago at 5:25. I wonder what the high temp was today? High tomorrow is forecast to be in the low 70s, so that is quite a swing. I think we're going to have t storms coming through tonight.
Speaking of storms, I'm going to take a look at Kathryn's pictures.
I'm done tutoring A. I'm home now, tired, and I don't feel like doing anything else.
We'll pick up dd16 from the football game when it is over - or when it gets rained out. She'll call. She is playing/marching at the game.

HAPPY 44TH ANNIVERSARY FELINEFRIEND AND DH
Hoping you are having a good day despite your pain. Your DH is a riot! I love to hear you tell of the funny clever things he says.
Our day has been great. We had breakfast with our dneighbors and visited at the restaurant for so long. We are going to do it again next Friday, same place and a little earlier. It is a sports bar and we had never been there but have heard about their wonderful food. I had Joe's Special and they all had Huevos Rancheros and now I know what I am having next Friday. They were all drooling over them. We had heard that they were a specialty and so good.
When we came home we jumped in the hotrod and went over to Genoa, the oldest town in Nevada. We love it there. It is a tourist attraction and they have something going on all the time. Had ice cream at the Genoa Country Store. Oh Oh!

Shouldn't have done that and told you about it.
Rosie, you are a Saint. All involved - and not even involved - thank you. Some years back I saw a story on Animal Planet about a cat around Phoenix who had jumped over a wall to get away from a dog and it landed right in a huge tree of that horrible cactus. It was horrendous and it showed the vets trying to rid it of all the stickers. It took them several hours and they had to medicate the poor thing. I cried.
Tomorrow morning we are leaving at 9 am and driving over to Placerville, CA (between 1-1/2 - 2 hrs.) and having lunch with dd and her dh. They are driving up from San Jose. I am so excited. We haven't seen them since April. We talk, message, and send pics and videos every day but it is not like seeing them for kisses and hugs. We will be going to SJ next month for 4 or 5 days. I can hardly wait for that.
Have a nice evening.

Happy trails, Norma. All sounds like fun for you!
I was going crazy trying to figure dh's checking account. Glad I persevered -found I was off in his register by about $300! I failed (I found after going through deposits one by one) to write in a deposit early August. Glad it was to the good, though there's plenty in there right now to cover everything. Noticed the other day that if our year's lease is paid by April 1st that we get 5 free guest passes. May as well -certainly don't collect much, if any, interest in that account. And that will be one more thing off our plate for next year. Don't know why I didn't notice till now that they said we had more than I thought. I keep fairly close track.
Think I hear dh coming back from his shower -at least I don't have to worry about dinner. But here it is 7 o'clock again and I haven't eaten yet.

Next up -take my meds and eat some cereal.

Happy anniversary to
Mr. & Mrs. FelineFriend!
and --

Congratulations to
helia's dd16!
I have not furthered any goals today, except exercise, and I have to say I did not do my floor exercises for that, so it's kinda been a lost day. DS arrived around 12:00 to run, but he did not leave to after 3:00, b/c he and dh got busy looking at old coins and family history stuff, and... well... there went the day, b/c since they were paying no attention to him, dgs was all about "nana nana nana."
We're about to leave for high school football game, and then tomorrow is a question mark. Ddil is having some stomach distress and doesn't know if she will go to college town or not. * sigh *
If she stays home, I will go, and either way is okay with me, but I have to be prepared for both, you know.
Otherwise today, I have been to the bank, drug store, and CVS. I know that sounds redundant, but y'all understand, I think.
I LOVE your storm, Kathryn!!! I cannot understand why my dmom gets so depressed when it rains. I mean, to hear her talk, it is just unbelievable how the rain affects her mood so negatively. Luckily, we're having pretty good weather this week. I haven't talked to her since Wednesday. I will call her tomorrow.
Meant to say WTG to
RamblinRose, too. I know I could never manage what you did with that poor little puppy. How horrible!!!
